first things first
This book picks up almost immediately where the first book left off. Avery is reeling from Callan’s accident and the stress of having a stalker who seems to constantly be three moves ahead. Unfortunately, adding to an already stressful situation is Callan’s accident-induced amnesia; he doesn’t remember having a relationship with Avery–and even worse, he seems to have resorted to the time when he hated her guts.
Enter Sebastian…
main thoughts
Sebastian surprised me in this book. I expected their relationship to grow, but the way he falls fast and hard for her took me by surprise. He and Avery almost immediately begin a physical relationship, and of course, super tough and broody Sebastian can’t admit that he’s head over heels for her.
Aidric, though…if I’d thought he was a jerk in the first book, it was mild compared to how he acts in book 2. This man has a lot of making up to do!
Once again, I loved this book. There was a nice mixture of spice, plot, great writing and a super intriguing mystery. I’m usually pretty good at figuring out the plot twists, but after the ending of this book, I’m stumped. I can’t wait to find out what happens next!
bullet points
- Sebastian is the star of this book. Talk about a complete 180 from from the first book! He’s absolutely obsessed with Avery and I love every minute of it.
- Callan’s amnesia was heartbreaking but incredibly well-written. I loved seeing the two of them falling for each other all over again–despite Callan’s general confusion about it all for the most part.
- Aidric, on the other hand…he’s decided to go full jerk and whew, I have a feeling he’s greatly underestimating the wrath of Avery.
- The stalker thing is absolutely wild. The whole story line has kind of been blowing my mind and I can’t wait to see what else happens in the next book!
final thoughts
If you’re interested in a spicy yet intriguing why choose romance where all the guys are morally gray bordering on black and a woman who doesn’t take any kind of crap, you’ll love this series!
As for me…I’ll be anxiously awaiting book 3.
Happy reading!
