Falling for her brother’s best friend was never part of Katie’s plan.

Tea witch Brew has always had a thing for his best friend’s sister, but the alliance between their families has always held him back from acting on it. But now things are changing, and it’s becoming impossible for him to ignore her.

Having known Brew for years, Katie has never considered him to be a serious contender for romance, but when hints of his true feelings shine through, she starts seeing him in a new light. Unable to resist her new feelings towards him, she realises she’s ready to go up against everything to be with him.

Except that Katie’s older brother, and the rest of their families, might be against the match. Is that enough to put a stop to the budding relationship, or can they make it work despite the odds?

The Tea Witch’s Promise is a cozy fantasy romance with a brother’s best friend m/f romance, an adorable and energetic dog, unusual magic, and a happy ever after.

housekeeping

I first want to apologize for the delay in getting this review up. Just like I said in my previous post, I caught the horrible bug that’s been going around and it knocked me on my butt. Anyway, I’m finally slowly getting back in the swing of things.

intro

This is easily one of the fluffiest books I’ve ever read. Honestly, it reminded me of a Hallmark movie; something you’d want to curl up to with your favorite hot drink and just enjoy it for the cozy, fluffy, cheesy story it is.

main

I can’t recall if I’ve read anything by Laura Greenwood and/or Arizona Tape before, but I did enjoy this. Like I stated previously, this is a very fluffy book. There’s not much depth to the story, so if that’s what you’re looking for, you’ll probably be disappointed. However, if you want something super sweet and cozy that will give you the warm fuzzies, then this is the perfect read for you.

I loved the characters, especially Brew, and the way he treats Katie and her familiar. The magic system was fun to read about and the neighborhood gave me magical Stardew Valley vibes. Super cute story, small, close-knit community, and the sweet romance between Brew and Katie was fun to read.

bullet points

  • the animated tattoos were awesome and so fun to read about. Think the Harry Potter portraits but on your skin. So cool!!
  • I love Howie, the brother’s owl familiar. He keeps accidentally hurting Oliver but I think he’s just a bit of a clumsy, misunderstood little guy. Plus he’s just adorable lol
  • I’m a little confused why the four families have such strict unspoken rules that they can’t be in relationships with each other. I know the “official” reasoning is to keep the balance but I don’t really understand how that keeps the balance. I kind of wish that was explained a little more, but maybe there’ll be more details in other books in the series.

final

This was a sweet read that made the perfect palate cleanser in between my Fourth Wing and Iron Flame re-reads, lol. I’m not sure if I’ll continue this series as I tend to prefer something with a little more story to it, but it may need to be another palate cleanser for after Onyx Storm or any other emotionally devastating book I tend to gravitate toward haha.

I definitely recommend this book for anyone who’s a fan of Hallmark and/or cutesy romcoms–or someone who needs something short and sweet that won’t destroy you emotionally 😉
