Abandoned Girl by Lexie Winston
Her entire life, Harlow has been the cuckoo in another bird’s nest. With an unreliable junkie for a mother and an unknown father, her foster family, the kind, successful, and generous Bostons, are the brightest spot in her life.
But even with a foster family like Harlow’s, there are some things money can’t buy- like the ability to fit in with the shallow socialites who act like her lack of pedigree is contagious.
Now that she’s finished college and her veterinary degree, Harlow’s life was supposed to take off. She was supposed to get a job and create a life away from the petty drama of the wealthy elite.
But when her mother dies and a life-changing secret is revealed, Harlow finds herself flying across the country to face an uncertain future that Kai, Holden, Jaxon, Thomas, Jacinta, Declan, and Oliver are going to make sure she won’t accept.

I hadn’t read the newer books in the series, so I re-read books 1 and 2. They were just as good as I remembered and I thoroughly enjoyed finishing the series!

Broken Bonds by J. Bree
After the death of my mother and her Bonded, I was relieved to find my own Bonds.
I was sure everything would be okay if I had them.
It wasn’t.
The fate of our people is in my hands and I know we’re better off if I’m alone.
After five years on the run, I’m caught and dragged back to face the men I ran away from.
I thought I was doing the right thing.
Now, I’m not so sure.
North, Nox, Gryphon, Atlas, and Gabe may never forgive me but one thing is for sure.
I won’t ever forgive myself.

What if they’re one and the same?
The stable foundation I thought I’d built in the Sanctuary has been ripped away, and I find myself on the front lines of the war against the Resistance. I might have my Bonds on my side, but there are darker schemes in motion.
Can I prove myself and turn the tide to protect our most vulnerable, or am I nothing more than the monster they’ve always claimed I am?

Find Me by Ashley N. Rostek
One year ago…
My family is gone. My parents. My twin sister. All of them murdered by the man who has stalked me for years. He nearly killed me, too. But I got away and he’s still out there, searching for me. He won’t find me. At least, I hope not. Thanks to WITSEC, I’ve been given a new life with a new identity.
The present…
My uncle, my only living relative, has helped me glue myself back together and given me the tools I’ll need to survive. I’m not fixed and my grief is heavy, but I’m at a point where I can put one foot in front of the other to try to move on.
I know my future will be hard and lonely. I must stay strong and focus on the good. I’m getting a second chance at life. I am safe. My new home is beautiful. The four brothers who live next door are even more so. Little do I know that Colt, Creed, Keelan, and Knox will soon become my everything. It’s as if my lonely heart screamed out for someone good to find me. Four answered back.
***WARNING This is a reverse harem romance. Contains violence, graphic killing, foul language, and sexual content. Some parts may be triggering.***

Smile Like You Mean It by Willow Hadley
After Charlotte’s father died, her mother changed. She became cold and distant, and Charlotte slowly withdrew into herself. She spent years feeling lonely and insignificant, and rarely spoke more than a few words to anyone. One night, after a traumatic incident instigated by her mother, Charlotte is arrested and taken to juvie.
A year later, Charlotte’s being released from juvie for the second time. Instead of an awful group home, her social worker brings a welcome surprise: Charlotte’s long-forgotten uncle, Arthur, who is all too eager to help her after everything she’s been through. When Charlotte learns that Arthur has a step-son her age, she’s even more apprehensive. How could he not resent having a stranger thrust into his home and family?
To her surprise and relief, Sebastian is kind and friendly. He and his four best friends—Grayson, Remy, Liam, and Elliot—make Charlotte feel welcome. They never make Charlotte feel badly about her past or her anxiety. They make her feel seen. As she gets to know the boys, she realizes they each have their own issues and demons they’re fighting, and she forms a unique bond with their group.
It doesn’t help that they’re ridiculously attractive. How could Charlotte not fall in love with all five of them?
This is a good story, but I’ll be honest: the boys really drive me insane. Idk if it’s because I’m in my 30s now, lol, but wow, the immaturity is real here. Particularly the anger issues–one of the boys gets so pissed off at even the slightest showing of interest from any of the others because he “really likes her,” but he hasn’t asked her out or even confessed his feelings, so I found that to be super annoying. Other than that, it was a good story and I’ll probably continue the series, though keep in mind if you want to read it that this series–so far–is definitely catered to the young adult audience.
Trigger warnings: past abuse and trauma; boys have pretty significant anger issues (though they do not hurt the heroine)

Tarnished by Indie Black & Sienna Cousins
He was supposed to protect me. Instead, he made me fear the dark. He was supposed to love me. In the end, his love was sickening, cruel and filled with malice.
Five years ago, the only bright lights in my world were extinguished. One decision. One text. One sentence and my fragile life shattered.
I never expected the depravity and lies that greets me when I return to Montecito, leaving me with one goal… To flee and never look back.
Everything changes when three gorgeous guys crash into my life. They’re determined to mark me as theirs, and make me question everything I hold true.
But when the ghosts of my past and future collide, who will be left standing? Me… or the monster who coveted me for all of the wrong reasons, turning me into what I am today…
Tarnished.
*Tarnished is the first book in the Tainted by Ruin Trilogy and cannot be read as a standalone. It is a Dark High School Reverse Harem Romance that contains scenes that may be triggering to some. Including : sexual assault (minor), physical abuse & self harm. Recommended for readers 18+.
I want to start by saying this author is a fantastic writer and this story had me in chokehold while I was reading.
With that being said…these first two books have some of the most graphic depictions of familial sexual abuse that I have ever read, which made them extremely hard to read at times. The story is great and I love the love interests, but the abuse is rough to read. If this is a trigger for you, please stay far away from this series.

Destroyed by Indie Black & Sienna Cousins
He was supposed to protect me. Instead, he became the monster who turned my dreams into nightmares.
He was supposed to love me. In the end, his love was poison, leaving me tarnished and hollow.
His death was supposed to bring me peace. But, his memories continue to terrorize me.
Since his first lecherous touch I’ve had only one purpose. One reason to not fully give into my demons :
The fraying hope of escaping this depraved life.
Coming back to Montecito has reinforced what I was callously taught as a child.
Everyone has something to hide … even those you hold closest.
Depravity lurks in the shadows, taunting me, waiting for the perfect moment to strike.
While anonymous threats promise nothing but bloodshed and death if I don’t obey.
My heart is torn between the three gorgeous guys who are the only bright lights in the obsidian darkness surrounding me.
But if my soul claims each of them equally, will they forgive me for refusing to choose?
When my nightmares begin to mix with reality, it’s hard to know what’s real and what’s a figment of my fractured mind.
One thing’s for sure, if my monster’s back, he’ll stop at nothing until I’m exactly how he loves me …

Make Me Lie by C.R. Jane & May Dawson
The world knows me as the Demon’s Daughter.
He’s a famous serial killer. And I may have been his accomplice.
But no one knows for sure except for me.
The dangerous, cruel men of the Sphinx secret society intend to uncover my secrets…and break me.
Stellan, my childhood crush who lost his sister to the Demon.
Cain, the boy with the face of an angel to who manipulation comes as easy as breathing;
Remington, the playboy soccer star full of secrets.
Pax, the dark psycho who hides behind his fists.
I hoped for a second chance at Darkwood University, only to have my dream ripped away the first time I kissed one of the handsome bastards.
They know who I am.
And they’re determined to make me pay.
They should have thought twice about who they were playing with.
Because I am the demon’s daughter. And just because they have the power, the connections, the faces and bodies of gods… do they really think they’ll win?
I wanted a new life, not a war.
But if they insist, we’ll see who ends up playing.
Blurb from Goodreads.
Talk about starting out with a bang! This is a fascinating premise and I definitely enjoyed the storyline, though the “heroes” definitely treat the heroine like shit, especially considering the reason for treating her this way is for her actions when she was young(er) living with a literal serial killer. There’s pretty much no empathy for her at first, and just when you think they’re possibly starting to warm up to her, the floor falls out from underneath her. These books are so good, though, and I’m really looking forward to reading the next one!

The monsters almost made me love them.
And now I’m paying the price.
But so are they.
Stellan, Cain, Remington, Paxton and I are locked together in a war that I refuse to lose.
They’ve taken my freedom, my money, my reputation…but they can’t take my soul.
They keep forgetting I was forged in fire by a demon. Monsters don’t scare me.
They think I’m trapped in their mansion with them. They think every time I seek their mouths, their hands, it means something.
They think they can break me with their punishments…and their pleasures.
But I’m only playing their game to win our war.
One by one, I’ll find their secrets, however bloody they are, and make them think I’m saving them…only to use those dark secrets against them.
Death. Bloodshed. Betrayal…and now Sex. That’s all my life will ever be. Now it’s time to welcome these men into my nightmares.
These monsters think they’re the kings of the world.
But the king always falls without the queen.
And the kings in this game…are going to burn.

Merciless Kings by Becca Steele & C. Lymari
They say bad things happen in threes.
The first was when I lost my parents.
The second came when I had to leave behind everything I knew to move across the world to live with my only remaining relative.
But what was life for, if not for living? So I kept moving.
Then the third thing happened, just as I was about to begin my junior year at the prestigious Blackstone University.
I caught the eye of not one, not two, but three of the most infamous guys on campus. The three guys from the wrong side of the tracks.
Saint, Mateo, and Callum.
And now that they have me in their sights, I know that there’s nowhere I can hide.
There’s no escape from the Boneyard Kings.

Another dark read…there’s a huge criminal underbelly within this town and just when you think you’ve figured it out, it gets worse… The “heroes” are extremely damaged and grieving and they believe the heroine has something to do with the heinous acts that were indirectly committed against them. Web of Lies by Aly Beck
My enemy is invisible.
Nameless. Faceless. Controlled. Puppets on strings. Sheep in the masses.
And I’ve turned into their number one plaything.
When I transferred to East Point Prep, I had one mission in mind: find the people responsible for murdering Magnolia. Someone within these entitled walls killed my only friend and threw her overboard like she was human trash.
Now, they’ll pay.
My best friend told me everything through weekly emails, leaving coded clues in her simple messages. I know every incident, and I have the names of her bullies—her murderers.
Seger, Chase, Zeppelin, Carter, and Ainsley.
Somehow everything gets twisted and turned around. Every piece of evidence turns to ash. Magnolia lied to me, and I have to unravel her words one piece at a time to understand the truth hidden within her code.
My pawns become my kings. The ones I once called my suspects turn into allies. They help me search for the invisible culprit slithering through the shadows.
The hunter becomes the hunted.

This book is fantastic. The heroine is super intelligent, the heroes are the perfect mix of drool-worthy and bully-ish (though it becomes more prevalent later on; you’ll understand when you read it) and there’s a cult working behind the scenes (apparently I was super into cult books this month? lol). There’s also some great Autism representation here, which I thought was awesome.
