first things first

This book was an emotional roller coaster. I felt like my heart was in my throat for nearly the entire time I was reading.

main thoughts

This is a friends-to-lovers-to-enemies kind of story. To say their relationship is complicated is an understatement. The things Jake and Tessa go through are intense and it’s understandable how their relationship basically implodes.

I don’t want to go too deep into their relationship dynamics because it’d be so easy to give spoilers, but this is a story that’s better read when you’re going into it somewhat blind.

This book sucked me in immediately and once I started, I couldn’t put it down. If you’re in the mood for an angsty friends-to-lovers story where they eventually become enemies (for reasons you’ll have to read to find out), you definitely need to read this book!

bullet points

  • the love between Jake and Tessa is intense and all-consuming, at times to a fault.
  • I’m a little frustrated with the hypocrisy of Jake at the end, but I’m assuming there’s more to the story than what’s been stated in book 1. I can’t say much more than that without giving away spoilers.
  • the switching POVs was incredible. I love getting a glimpse into both characters’ heads and learning what they’re thinking and feeling.

final thoughts

Like I said, if you’re in the mood for an angsty friends-to-lovers (to enemies), you definitely need to check this book out!

As always, if you end up reading this book, feel free to come back and let me know your thoughts in the comments below.

Happy reading!
