GREAT double update today! UPDATE: 1/3/2021: Mom' GREAT double update today! UPDATE: 1/3/2021: Mom's oxygen is down to 35% (!!!!) and they were actually able to take her off the oxygen for 25 minutes today. We're seeing progress, but she isn't seeing it, so she's very frustrated, and she's bummed that she can't move like she thinks she should be able to. It's also incredibly frustrating to her that she isn't able to communicate the way she wants to. It's difficult for us to try to read her lips and she isn't strong enough yet to write anything down. I just hate so much that she's going through this. When we video chatted today, she kept mouthing, "I want to go home," and "I just want this to be over." 😢 So please pray for some peace and comfort for her. I'm happy she's aware enough to know she wants to go home, but I hate seeing her suffer. She's still pretty out of it and gets kind of a blank stare every so often, but those moments are getting fewer and farther between the bouts of clarity. Today is day 37 in the hospital and day 26 in the ICU. There's still a ways to go yet, but the progress we're seeing is incredible and we've been thanking and praising God! We've just gotta keep praying ❤️🙏🏻 1/4/2021: UPDATE: Dad told me when he got to the hospital, Mom was doing physical therapy. They had her sitting on the edge of the bed and lift her arms and legs (with help). She's on a milder oxygen support and they had her off the ventilator for over an hour and a half!! This is huge! He said she's worn out now--obviously--but she's making great progress! Thank you Lord!! 1/5/2021: Mom is very frustrated she can't do more, BUT she's awake and mostly aware and I'd much rather have her like this than what she was a week and a half ago! ❤️🙏🏻
UPDATE: My dad just texted me. MRI came back looki UPDATE: My dad just texted me. MRI came back looking good and the PA is happy with her increased mental clarity!! They've started physical therapy with her already, which is good, and she has a slight fever today but they've put her back on antibiotics, so hopefully they'll knock out that infection soon. They told Dad that the next step is coming soon! PRAISE GOD!! Also, when Dad first got there today, even though Mom was still really out of it, her bouts of mental clarity have been increasing, so he asked her if she wanted to video call me and she nodded. He put me on the video call and I talked to her a bit, told her I love her, and she was able to mouth, "I love you" and I THINK, "miss you." 😭🥰 It made my whole day. She still has a long way to go, but this is progress that we've been REALLY needing to see! And getting to see her tell me she loves me after weeks is one of the best blessings I could ask for right now. Thank you all so much for your continued prayer!! I know she still has a long way to go, but praise God for some progress! <3

Her vitals have been great, but she isn't waking up like they think she should, so they were going to do an MRI on her brain today to see what's going on. Yes, we're seeing some improvements, but she's still critical and she still needs a lot of prayer. Please pray that the MRI shows everything's okay and she's able to wake up soon. Once I hear about the MRI, I'll give another update. Please feel free to share this post and continue asking for prayer if you see fit. We have a whole army of people praying for her and we're more than happy to add more! Thank you to those of you who've been checking in on my mom and my dad and me. If I haven't responded to you, I apologize; I'm beyond overwhelmed and just trying to make it day to day right now. KEEP PRAYING--THEY'RE WORKING!!! Dad video called KEEP PRAYING--THEY'RE WORKING!!! Dad video called me earlier today... Mom was moving and opening her eyes!! He told her I was on the phone and I said, "Hey, Momma!" and she turned to the camera and opened her eyes for a couple seconds! I bawled after we hung up. Thank you, Lord! I don't know any of her stats yet, but I'm praising God for this bit of progress. It'd been a month since I'd seen my mom's eyes and those 2 seconds have given me so much hope! There's never been anything so beautiful ❤️ They put her back on sedation afterward because it was kind of strenuous on her and they want to give her a chance to rest overnight. But wow...I have so much hope ❤️ Still a long way to go, but this is progress!

She reiterated the setback of the other day trying to get her off the paralytic and it not going so well, but Mom's been off it for two days now and handling it okay. Her oxygen levels are too high to do the trach right now and they really need her oxygen levels to go down. They're going to try lowering the sedation but they don't want to lower it too much so she doesn't fight the ventilator. Everything is good--vitals, kidneys--it's just her lungs that are so bad. She's also out of isolation so Dad will be able to go visit her in person. Anyway...Mom is still critical; she isn't better, but she isn't worse. We were kind of hoping for better news today, but the doc told Dad it's going to be a long, long process. I don't normally get too personal on this app, but I don't normally get too personal on this app, but sometimes situations call for it and this is one of those times. This has been one of the worst weeks of my life. My mom has been in the hospital for eight days, fighting for her life with Covid-19 and pneumonia. My husband & I have been sick with a mild case of Covid, but it got ahold of my poor mom in one of the worst ways. If you're at all aware of our work situation, then you know that I work for/with my mom--she's a copy editor & I'm a proofreader/editor--but she's so much more than my work partner. My mom is my rock; my best friend and confidant, & to say this week has been horrifically stressful is a gross understatement. If any of my dear Instagram community are praying people, I beg of you, please pray for my mom. This has been terrible & we've been so worried. We just want her home, healthy and whole. While the doctors are feeling positive, they've made it clear that it's going to be a long, tough road, & she could use all the prayer/positive vibes she can get. I'll get back to my normal content soon, but to be honest, my mom--& getting healthy myself--has been my number one priority. If I could tell anyone anything it's to please take this virus seriously. My family thought we were being careful & we've still gotten sick, with my mom quite literally fighting for her life in the hospital. Don't take the precautions for granted & if you aren't wearing a mask for yourself, do it for someone else. It's just a minor inconvenience in the long-run. We missed out on Thanksgiving as a family & we aren't sure if we'll all be able to be together for Christmas, & honestly, as long as my mom can heal & recover, I'm not even that upset about it. I just want her healthy & whole again. Please be safe & cautious & take care of yourselves. You just never know & it's so much better to be safe than sorry. #covid #covid19 #prayerrequest
