Hi there! If you’re reading this, then chances are you’re looking for someone to review your book, in which case, I thank you for your consideration 🙂

First Things First

I accept ARCs and prefer eBooks in the epub format. I will read physical copies of books, but eBooks are more convenient for me. I’m not opposed to reviewing audiobooks, but again, eBooks are my preferred reading format.

All of my opinions belong to me alone and getting a review copy of a book doesn’t affect the way I feel about the story or how I rate it. While I do my best to review the book in a timely manner, if I’m backlogged with review copies or other circumstances arise where I need to take longer, I’ll do my best to let you know as soon as I’m able. Due to the fact that I run my blog by myself and simply don’t have enough time to read all the review requests I’m given, I, unfortunately, cannot review every book that comes my way. Please include answers to the questions and if I feel we will be a good fit for each other, I’ll respond to your request and we can move on to the next step (whether you would prefer emailing me a ePub file or sending it directly to my kindle with my kindle address is up to you). While I can’t guarantee I will review or promote your book, I can guarantee I won’t do anything without those answers.

As a book lover–and a freelance proofreader–I appreciate the time and effort you put into writing and marketing your book.

Most of my reading is done on a Kindle which means I appreciate well formatted ePud files. I do read quite a few unedited proof copies, but I would appreciate if you disclose whether the book has been edited or not prior to my reading it.

If you would prefer to send me a physical book, mention it when you fill out my review request form and I’ll get back to you with my address if I’m interested.

The Reality

I receive quite a few review requests, and I do my best to respond to everyone, but there may be a few that fall through the cracks (I’m trying to eliminate this by now asking that you fill out the review request form prior to my accepting your request). If I’m unable to do a full review on your book, I may include it in a series of micro-reviews, a promotional post, a blog tour, release blitz, or include it on a book list. Please understand that I cannot guarantee that I’ll provide these posts, but I will do my best to. The decision regarding when, how, and even if I share a book on my blog or social accounts is entirely at my discretion. Sending me a copy of a book in no way guarantees any promo or positive review.

My reviews are always honest and based on my own experiences with the book. While I try not to share negative reviews, sometimes I do.

Review Preferences:

Romance is definitely my genre of choice, and I’m not too picky about the subgenre. I will say that I do not enjoy FF, MPreg, horror, and I rarely read historical.

I rarely venture outside of the romance genre, although I do on occasion find myself craving something different. These books typically end up on book lists based on the themes of the book. They also likely won’t have a very quick turnaround time. So please be aware of that if you send me such a request.

Please disclose in the review request form whether there are any sexual encounters without consent, surprise pregnancies, death of a main character*, or themes of infidelity. I’m not a huge fan of these themes, but that doesn’t necessarily mean I won’t read books with them. I would prefer that you disclose these things so I can make an educated decision on whether I would like to read your book or not.

*I realize this is kind of a spoiler, so if you’d rather not say directly, please disclose if there is a happily ever after (or happy for now) or not, as this will influence my decision.

Genres I Will and Won’t Read:

Preferred

  • Romance (most subgenres)
  • Young Adult (again, most subgenres)
  • Graphic Novels (particularly romance-themed)
  • Manga

I Won’t Read

  • Horror (an exception to this is if it’s light horror or doesn’t focus solely on horror)
  • Children’s
  • Historical fiction
  • Non-Fiction
  • F/F

My Rating System:

1 star – didn’t like it at all

2 stars – didn’t much care for it, but there were some parts I enjoyed

3 stars – it was okay

4 stars – really liked it

5 stars – LOVED IT

Links:

Each review includes a link to the book’s GoodReads page. I tag authors/ publishers in social media posts regarding book reviews assuming the links are provided. Each review and book list also has affiliate sales links when appropriate. Generally, I do not tag individual authors/publishers in book lists although I will send an email to let you know you’ve been included. You are welcome to share those posts with your followers in whatever way you see fit, though I would appreciate that you give me credit.

Where I Share My Reviews:

I post reviews here on my blog, my Goodreads account, and sometimes on Bookbub. I do not review on Amazon, and I apologize for any inconveniences that might cause. I also create my own graphics and share them primarily on my Instagram and Pinterest pages. Depending on the performance of the posts and what I’m currently blogging about, I may share them more than once. If you share my review and/or any graphics I make, please give me credit.

Disclosure:

I identify the source of books in my reviews as either author, publisher, NetGalley, etc. However, I maintain complete control of what and when I post.

And if by chance you would like to quote any part of my review, please do! All I ask is that you credit me as Risa at AlatedBibliophile.com <3
