I've lost my family, my wealth, and the place I called home for the past five years.

Now I’ve moved back to where it all began…

With the guys I thought I’d never see again.

Abel, Ronan, Wells, and Bishop were my friends at one time.

The only girl they would let into their inner circle.

Now they hate me.

They think I’m a traitor.

And I don’t know why.

But I am bound and determined to find out.

The problem is, there is a super fine line between hate and lust.

What happens when we all cross it?

Being that this is a new to me author and with how much I enjoyed this book has me really wanting to take a look at her previous books, this one pulled me in straight away and didn’t let up until that last page was inhaled.

Many questions left unanswered, and a cliffy to boot, but these two things just have me anticipating the next book even more.

This does jump from their past, to present, an unorthodox disciplinary Camp Capitree is where it all kicked off with these characters. Only two blood related, but that bond between them all made them family and the girl who was the glue in their little group.

275930626-351981266842374-8529579962800888746-n

Until she wasn’t.

And these boys don’t forgive easily.

Lennon was the girl who had it all, from the mansion, to the money, to having nothing at all, with both parents out of the picture she's now living with her Aunt when they both move back to the town that they have fond memories of is when things start getting interesting.

She thinks the boys will be happy to see her and be there for her with open arms, but it's the exact opposite, they all just want her gone with a vengeance. Gone are the boys she used to know.

I genuinely kind of have a love-hate relationship with this book.
On one hand, I kind of hated Lennon (the mc) because she's one of those characters that are like 'IM SO BADASS' and she's done almost nothing to go along with this info and she just seems pretentious. Like she literally tells the guys 'you can't break me' (something along those lines) and yet almost every single time they talk to her she starts sobbing...like girl why are you all talk and no follow-through?😭
ON THE OTHER HAND, I definitely liked Abel, Bishop, Ronan, and Wells a lot more than I liked Lennon. I don't love them yet. But I feel like they have potential.
What I loved most about this book was that regardless of the characters not being the best, the plot is literally so addicting. I read this whole book in almost one sitting. There's such a sense of mystery and just this need to answer the questions "WHAT HAPPENED AT CAMP CAPITREE??" and "WHY DO THEY HATE HER??" and "WHY THE FUCK DOES AUNT DARBY SEEM SO SUSPICIOUS??" just so many questions and the twists make it even better.
THE PLOT TWIST AT THE END?? THE CLIFFHANGER??? THAT WAS EVIL. I NEED THE NEXT BOOK.
In conclusion: This book has kind of shitty characters but the plot is a little addicting and I loved it and I think there's a lot of potential for it to be better.

Traitor is one of those stories that simply did not work for me. It clearly works for a lot of people, yet I never felt any investment in this one. I tried hard to like it, was looking for things to be invested in, yet those details came too late (and were too small) for me to overcome my initial inability to care.

I think the big reason I had trouble with this one is because it’s so vague about things. It is necessary for all the secrets to be maintained, yet it reached the point where there were times when I had no idea what was going on. Especially in the flashbacks, as it wasn’t until almost the end that those were explained in full and I was finally able to work out why something so illogical had happened. By that point, however, I had lost interest because it had been too vague throughout. Moreover, despite the necessity of keeping things secret to give an air of mystery, many of the details were predictable. There was no moment in the present timeline where I was shocked by what happened. I could have overlooked this if I had cared for the romance, but there was nothing about it that had me hooked. It was too fast and underdeveloped, and I never felt any real pull.

Maybe I’ve just read too many in this genre and have seen it done better, but this one did not work for me. I’m evidently in the minority, though.

Traitor is the first introduction to the Loxley Prep series. In it, you will meet Abel, Ronan, Wells, Bishop and Lennon. Throughout the book, and series really, we get bits and pieces of what happened in their past and how it sort of shaped them into who they are in the present. They all have one thing in common: the shitty camp they all went to.

Now when you think of a camp, you think of a fun summer one where you get to make friends and memories to last a lifetime. Yeah, this camp was not that kind of camp one freaking bit. Luckily, they all had each other until they didn't.

Lots of betrayals, secrets and mysteries to solve. A lot of which didn't add up because we were missing some puzzle pieces. The overall unknown bugged the heck out of me because I just wanted to know what went down and why no one trusted one another. Of course, it came done to the usual suspects: assumptions and miscommunication.

This eventually gave this group so much conflict - whether it was good sexual tension or not. It also doesn't help that there's just something about Lennon that makes the guys question every little thing. She's the light to their darkness and they have no idea what she has gone through since she left their lives. With their little reunion, they don't know what to do about her either.

The romance was so freaking good. Unfortunately, it also gave me a huge headache and some anxiety. Again, it was the unknown messing with my mind because I just wanted this group to get back to being on the same page.

In the end, we have so many suspects to keep track of and lots of secrets to uncover.

I absolutely loved this one.
I have never read this author before and it was my first time with her so I was a bit nervous , I don't usually pick up new authors but this book had all the genres I love so much so I have it a go and damn , I did not regret it. I read this one in a single sitting and as a bully romance lover I would say that this one was not very dark but more of a contemporary and dark romance mix.

The suspense edge of the book was good and I loved the heroes so much although I hope that they just sit and talk shit with each other rather than assuming stuff which just creates problems. The h deserves a better chance at communication and I hope that she gets it. A few of the heroes still have a long way to go with their character development and relationships and I am here for it!

So excited for the next instalment and I would definitely recommend this book to all the dark romance loving people out there with a taste of RH and High school bully romance in it.

Honestly, there’s not much of the story here, more like a really long prologue to the series.
We don’t get to know the characters much, and not much actually happens, so the book just feels superficial. The spice level is PG 13, so there isn’t even that. Things sort of start to happen at the very end of the book, just enough to intrigue you enough to pick up the sequel.

This is an enemies to lovers and reverse harem/why choose book. Trust me when I say that if that your kind of read then you do not want to miss this one. I wasn't sure what to expect since I haven't read a Hattie June book before and all I can say after reading it is wow!!! This book blew me away from front to back and then I still didn't want it to end. I could have gotten lost in this amazing book form days at a times. . This is the story of Lennon who is a girl who use to have it all until her father super suddenly was left with absolutely nothing. Together she and her Aunt Darby find a way to get back to where her aunt grew up in Minnesota. The first people she sees is the boys he was in camp with and they are not happy to see her and tell her there going to make her life as miserable as possible while she is at their school. They still though will not tell her what she did to deserve their hate. I don't want to give anymore away about the story. I basically went into this story blink and that is the way you need to go in it too. This book hooked me from the first page and I just could not stop reading it. I loved the boys and Lennan and I still haven't figured out half the stuff that was going on in this book. The secrets really pile up in this book too. I hope yall give this book a chance. I personally loved it and can't wait for the next book to come out. I thought it was an absolutely amazing read and I am so glad that i read it too.

Wow

This is addictive. I read this in one-day and have a feeling I'll binge the rest this weekend. It's a super good bully reverse harem. They're seniors in high school with a tragic past and secrets and there's all that good push and pull. Not super spicy but I'm so pulled into the story!

This being a new to me author I was super intrigued with the blurb on this book and let me tell you Hattie you knocked it out of the park. MIND BLOWN!!! What a way to come out the gate HOT AF.

This book is packed to the brim with secrets, lies, betrayal and one epic roller coaster ride of emotions and that is just barely scratching the surface. This book dives deep!!

Lennon is a survivor and so are the four boys she fell for 5 years earlier. Now she is 18 and she is here for some answers from the boys who apparently hate her now and she wants answers. Lennon is strong and resilient and I instantly well in love with her. I love how determined she is and there isn’t anything that is going to stop her from her mission even though the guys are not making her life easy at all. I love that we get to see flashbacks it definitely helped with each character development and why and who they are now.

Abel, Bishop, Wells and Ronan these four are out for vengeance and have their sights set on Lennon but is their anger and hurt misplaced? Well you will definitely have to read to find out because there is so much that happens in this book and I still have so many questions. While all of the guys are making Lennon’s life hell some of them change their tune and it has you crushing on them pretty hard. Ronan and Wells *swoon*, even Bishop but Abel this freaking guy I am going to need some groveling. I can’t wait to see him in the next book.

But it will seriously grab you from the beginning and will have you not wanting to put it down until you get to the end and then have you screaming that you need more. You need answers because I know I surely do. I cannot wait for the next book in the series.

This book gripped me from beginning to end. You want a good RH book, this is it for you!

You will get some twists and turns that will literally make your head spin like beetlejuice.

I loved that we get what's going on in the present and also flashbacks to what happened 4 years ago, which is where Lennon met the boys at Camp Capitree (worst than the military) so it gives us a better understanding, or at least it tries to but I love the whole puzzle it throws in with all these twists and turns between Lennon and the boys from Loxley Prep.

Lennon had left to care for her father to another State and her aunt Darby was the one who helped her a lot, but when her aunt decides to move back to Minnesota Lennon doesn't hesitate to go back because there are a lot of unanswered questions she needs resolved and she's hoping that once she returns she can find out why the boys hate her so much, where did this hatred stem from and why, but Abel, one of the guys is the most haunted of them all and he's the one who seems to have the biggest chip on his shoulder when it comes to Lennon.

The boys all mostly have soften up towards her but there are some mysteriousness going on at this small town in Minnesota and I can't wait to find out what all the mystery is all about. So much is happening that you just want to throw your device at the wall when you get to that last page because that cliffhanger was not nice ;(

I totally can't wait to get the next book, my hands are itching to get more of Lennon and her boys and to see if they will eventually bow down and forgive her for something she had nothing to do with! And I also can't wait to see what other secrets unfold with the whole Vandenberg family and Lennon's aunt. So much mystery gahhhhh it makes me antsy!!

One thrilling roller coaster that I'm sure you don't want to end!

This is an excellent bully romance! Lennon knew the four guys, known at schools as “The Valiant” five years ago. They used to be close, having bonded over difficult circumstances, and Lennon needs to find out why they hate her now. We get some flashbacks from all of the main characters that give some insight into what their lives were like when they first met, and the author does a great job of showing the contrast between how their relationships were between then and the present. The bully aspect is not super heavy from the harem. One of the guys goes harder into that part than the others, but there’s more of a stalker vibe than an actual bully. The reader is left in the dark about what happened previously. We discover things as Lennon does, and while she does find out some answers, the book leaves us with some bigger questions. It’s a great hook into book two! The spice is medium burn and 🌶🌶🌶. Can’t wait for the next book!

I was given an ARC of this book and asked to leave an honest review of it.

MC: Lennon, Wells, Bishop, Ronan, Abel

4/5⭐️
3/5🌶

RH, flashbacks in multi POV, prep school, bully, enemies to lovers, cliffhanger

Lennon is back in her hometown after living away for years. When she comes back, she enrolls at the prep school that her former friends, the guys, attend. Bishop is even a teacher there now. None of the guys are happy to see her there because they believe that she is a liar who can’t be trusted because of things that happened at a “juvenile correction camp” that her father ran.
I need the next book ASAP! The relationship forming between Lennon and the guys has such an interesting dynamic. Lennon says she came back to figure out what the guys did to her father and just as she starts to get some answers, Boom! End of book. I really enjoyed this one and can’t wait to see how things develop over the next book.

I've read books with pretty similar plots to this before, but I did like the addition of the camp for "troubled" teens that the characters attended. We have a lot of those wilderness camps here, where people come and take kids out of their beds and make them survive in the woods for weeks. I can't imagine how that could actually help someone going through issues and I think it causes a lot of trauma. In this book, we see the lasting effects on the characters and how they're trying to cope with what happened.

This isn't quite a bully romance, but there's definitely some hate between the guys and Lennon. It was interesting trying to figure out why they dislike her so much and I liked that Lennon kept trying to be their friend instead of starting a war with them. There are a few shady people in this that I think have dark motives and I can't wait to start the next one to see where it goes.

not the cliffhanger… sigh…

This one is not for the faint of heart and does have some triggers, so I advise looking into that beforehand if you are planning on reading it. The spice was GREAT but I did want more of it.

There were a lot of flashbacks that really added to the story and the history of the characters that I thought was very well done. Our main character, Lennon, was a great character to follow. She clearly had a lot going on, and I was investing in figuring out her past with the other characters.

The short chapters kept the story moving very quickly! I do wish we got more, but knowing it is a series makes sense on how things played out. I cannot wait to read more from the series and get more answers!

DNF @ CHAPTER 25, 46%

For a really pretty cover this book was far from it.

The prologue was interesting and it pulled me in but that's literally all that was fascinating.

I didn't like the Auntie at all. Darby or Dirby or whatever, who even asks her niece to get along with the children of the guy she fancies so she can get into his pants? Like get your own guy with your own effort?

I also know there is some backstory with the boys (Bishop, Wells, Abel and Ronan) but at the rate that it's being revealed I can't even say it's slow burn it's just ridiculous-burn. Almost halfway into the book and there's still no idea, not even one line about the falling out. Also don't be fooled by the description, there's no bully aspect when the bullies supposedly play volleyball and chauffeur her to a party.

Sadly, my high hopes for this pretty cover series have all gone down the drain.

This book left me speechless!!! It was suspenseful, sexy, dark, and super hot. I loved Lennon. She was fierce, brave, and strong. The boys were all amazing. Each of them had a characteristic that when put together easily makes you fall for them. The storyline was amazing, full of twists and turns. I loved the flashbacks and getting to see some of the flashbacks in the boy's pov. The characters were perfectly written. I could feel the hate and love in each chapter and see how Lennon was struggling with her emotions. This book was written perfectly and is a great first book. I cannot stop thinking about the story and wish I could jump to May and have the second book already. This book easily became one of my new favorites.

So it’s more like 3.5 and hear me out.

Did I go into this blindly only knowing that it was a RH? Yes. Lennon returns home after being gone for a long while. Her aunt, who plucks my ever loving mind, supports her coming back. Although Lennon is 18 she decides to come back to her home town and goes to a school with scholarship. There she finds the four men that entered her life at a younger age, but they had turned their back on her, and confidentially one of them is her teacher. The men have their own agenda and it is to show her that they won't back down and make her life a living hell by claiming her already. Lennon actually does not back down for the most part and is not easily swayed by their dynamics. Things start to become an "Ah-ha" moment for the crew. This does leave on a cliff hanger and it at least got me to want to see what happens next.

Now we all know that RH tends to be very spicy.... my loves, the steam didn't pick up until later in the book. I wish there was a tiny bit more, but maybe there is more in the next one. It was a quick read as well. I know that others will like this series but maybe in the end this may not be for me. But I will continue to support the author in their writing!

For the first time I get to be on the starting line for a new RH series! I usually end up coming into these part of the way through and then enjoy joining in with the reading and reviewing once I’m caught up, but this time it’s ground floor, baby!

I have been really looking forward to this book ever since it was announced. I’m more of a fan of private school/boarding school RH romances than the bully aspect of it, but I’m okay with it the vast majority of the time, if only because it can make the spice even hotter when there’s a little bit of anger in it.

I’m loving the premise and our FMC, Lennon, who’s obviously been caught in more than one “between a rock and a hard place” scenario throughout her entire life. I feel like we got a basic gist of who the boys are, but this book wasn’t long enough and had too much story to tell for us to get to know them better. That’s an advantage to having a RH series: we’ll get to know everyone better in the next book.

Lennon’s Aunt Darby is both exasperatingly naive and selfish. I don’t feel like she’s a bad person: she’s just woefully misguided and likely easy to manipulate. Her “relationship” with Brewster raises more than one red flag for me and I’m invested in seeing how it turns out.

The pacing was nice, though the constant influx of memories told in flashback format is something I am cringing a little at. I’ve never been a fan of flashbacks because of how they interrupt reading flow and cause us readers to shift gears, but I can somewhat understand why the author make that executive decision.

I happily recommend giving this book a chance! I’ll be looking forward to the next one!

What a great book!!

I finished it in less than two days and honestly if I had the time, I could have read it in one sitting! It was so good and I just didn't want to put it down! 😍😍

It is slow-burn, the characters are introduced slowly, there is no info dumb and we get more and more snippets of their past through backflashes and memories. It's a puzzle slowly getting put together, with a little mystery and endless questions that want to be answered.
The book kept my attention and I was always questioning what might have happened in the past. Seeing things slowly get uncovered was super interesting, too.

Also, I really liked that all the emotions and feelings only built very slowly. It was a slow transition from hate to interest to a little more, but even at the end of the book there is no "I love you forever and ever" and I am happy about this, because with the situation these characters are in this would only be unrealistic.

There are a lot of questions that still need answering and the ending especially left me with even more answers and I LIKE it!!! It leaves tension and I am super curious for book two in the Loxley Prep series.

The only thing that could have needed a little more attention was the sentence structure. The writing is good - no question! What could've made the book a 5 star read though would be more details. I feel like some sentences were very simple, which made the reading experience fluent and easy going, yes, but I think some sentences could have used a little more detail, a little more explanation and I absolutely would not have minded longer sentences and paragraphs, because the story was really good!

All in all, that is not a big negative point though! I LOVED this book! And I am incredibly excited to see how the story will continue and what will happen after THIS ENDING!!!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

This was a very good start to a new series by a totally new to me author, Hattie Jude.
Traitor, told going back in time between present day and her earlier teenage years, tells us the beginning of Lennon’s story and the four boys who became a huge part of it. After being away from the guys for a while Lennon shows up at Loxley Prep only to discover that these boys harbor some serious hatred towards her and she doesn’t quite understand why.

Abel, Bishop, Wells, and Ronan are anything but happy to see their old friend, Lennon. After all that she did and the lies she told they want nothing more than to make her pay for all of that and more and intend to do just that. But why does she seem so confused by the anger they have towards her?

I don’t want to give any real details away because I think it’s best to just go in blind like I did and not really know what you’re getting yourself into. Plus spoilers suck so bad and I never will do that to anyone.

So I will say.
This book has a lot of things for everyone…

As soon as i stumbled across this book while scrolling through social media i instantly started looking forward to it! When i found out it was going to be an RH it had me even more excited to pick it up! I started reading it as soon as i could and got into the Loxley Prep world. I enjoyed this first installment!

Lennon's journey grabbed my attention from the get go! When she reunites with four people from her past, Abel, Ronan, Wells, and Bishop things aren't easy. I wasn't sure what all to expect in this story and i really liked how that got me into it even more. I enjoyed the way all of these characters had me feeling so many different things throughout.

It definitely kept me on my toes.

With Traitor, Ms.Jude has created such a good read! I am so looking forward to diving back into the Loxley Prep world with the second installment, Thief!

Gorgeous Cover and Great Story!

I initially picked this book up because of the gorgeous cover, and I’m glad I did. This is the first book I’ve read from this author, and I’ll definitely look into her others! The cliffy was 🤯😭 - I need Book 2!

The book is told in multiple POVs and incorporates flashback to a “disciplinary camp” where Lennon and her boys initially met. Having to endure the camp together, they all became very close… until they weren’t… and the boys believed Lennon betrayed them.

Present day Lennon has lost everything - her father committed suicide after losing everything (their fortune, their home). Although Lennon is 18, she lives with her aunt who became her “caretaker” upon seeing her father’s downward spiral. They moved from Texas back home to Minnesota - her aunt is looking to find love and Lennon is looking for answers. The boys, however, are NOT happy to see her, but she really doesn’t understand why….

I loved the twists and secrets… and really can’t wait to find out what else will be revealed. I have so many questions… what is Darby hiding? Who really betrayed the boys? What’s up with Brewster 🤯🤯🤯

This is definitely a slow burn - the focal point is on the plot and character development. I loved how the boys hate but clearly still have strong feelings for Lennon. The chemistry is real, and I’m here for it!

I absolutely loved every minute of this book. It has been quite awhile that I got hooked in a bully/friends-to-enemies-to-lovers/ childhood sweethearts kind of romance. And boy, this book pack a punch. This will have you turning those pages dying to know what will happens next and keeps you on your toes guessing what caused the fall out. I liked Lennon's sassy comebacks to the guys. While I adored the guys, how they are all intense and crazy about Lennon, I want to know more of them aside from those brief POV. As a first time reader, I liked the author's writing style, how she built up the suspense and the easy flow of present and the past that made a compelling storyline. With a cliffhanger ending, I hope that there will be more build up on the romance department in the next book.
