I spent most of my life feeling dead inside -- until I met Peter Pan and the Lost Boys.

It wasn't until Pan and Neverland that I finally felt alive.

But things are not all full of magic and sunlight on the island. There's something darker and more sinister haunting the forest.

And worse, the fae queen and Captain Hook are ready to fight for control of Neverland and they will stop at nothing to get what they want. Including using the one thing Pan never thought he wanted or needed -- me. I'm a descendant of the Darling family and now I belong to him and the Lost Boys.

War is brewing -- can the Never King get his shadow back and assume his rightful throne? And if he does, where will I fit?

Or will all of Neverland be in jeopardy right along with my dark, twisted heart?

NOTE: The Dark One is book two in the Vicious Lost Boys series. It is a dark reimagining of Peter and Wendy. If you like your enemies to lovers romance with hot, ruthless, morally gray love interests, you’ll enjoy The Dark One and the Lost Boys. You can expect hate kissing, fighting, bickering, and ‘touch her and I’ll unalive you’ vibes.

Alright, I know this series has become a bit of a guilty pleasure of mine. It’s just a really erotic and unique spin on Peter Pan lore. And I honestly don’t know what they put in that Neverland water, but Jesus Christ are these Lost Boys and the Darlings horny as can be. Like do they all just drink liquid Viagra nonstop? I think Winnie had some form of sex about twenty times in just over two hundred pages. You’d think she’d be pretty worn out and walking with a permanent shimmy, but guess again. Just graphic and filthy lovin’ all over the place, lol. But all joking aside, there is more to this than just the uncensored carnal pleasures that consume a good portion of the pages. The story was very much a direct sequel to the original book, but layered some much needed depth to the characters and Neverland. You have the different territories and they’re all at odds with one another, and we get some really good background as to who is related to who, why things are set up a certain way, etc. And it sets up a really exciting third book with the imminent arrival of a fan favorite character that has a score to settle with Pan and Hook. Not to spoil anything, but the clock is ticking. So as much as I hate deviating from my normal reading curriculum of horror, psychological terror, monsters eating unsuspecting hitchhikers and such, I am under the spell of the Never King.

I enjoyed this book more than the first one because it had more action combined with smut in places that made sense, but I think this whole trilogy could be condensed into one book if we're being honest.

The Dark One is a continuation of The Never King, and it really should have been one longer book. Ending every book on a cliffhanger, especially when said books are 200 pages long, is lazy writing. It's a cheap tactic to piss off your readers, so they feel obligated to buy the next book to know what happens. If the author had taken the time to storyboard and plot, if she took the time to edit and get beta readers and IDK, maybe do some research, this could have been a lot better. Instead, we're given something that should be available for free on Wattpad....honestly, more like Literotica. Both books contain fragments, grammatical/spelling errors, repeating one-sentence paragraphs, stilted dialogue and plot holes. There are barely any descriptions of people, places and things. While The Dark One gets a little better at describing places, that's all we get. Imagining Neverland is very difficult--in fact, that's one of the big reasons I dislike this book so much. Nikki is borrowing the world of Peter Pan, yet she's expanded it to give us several more islands, but we know next to nothing about any of them. We know one is called Everland, and one is called Darkland. (How original.) There is next to no immersion. The plot makes no sense, and the sex comes at the most inopportune moments. All the boys ever think about is how bad they want to fuck Winnie. I find it a bummer that Nikki only cares about writing sex. I expected to read a book about Neverland. I expected to understand the world and its magic but nope.

So in The Never King. Winnie Darling, a distant relative of Wendy Darling, gets kidnapped by Peter Pan. According to her mentally unstable mother, Merry (who is a prostitute), Peter Pan will come for her on her 18th birthday and 'break her'. Her mother never shares why Peter will come for her, and she never clarifies how he's going to break her. Peter has been doing this to all the women in the Darling family for generations. You would think Merry would tell her daughter what to expect. We later find out that Peter is kidnapping Darlings because the original Darling stole his shadow and hid it away. Why? Because Tinkerbell was jealous and convinced her to do it, somehow. Then, when she was finished, Tinkerbell killed her so he can't find his shadow and then Pan killed Tinkerbell in revenge. Peter spends the next however many years taking female Darlings from their homes when they turn 18 to extract memories from them...because apparently, they can retain their ancestor's memories.

Why age 18? Was it simply so the story could have that sexual undertone? Because there was a huge emphasis on Winnie 'just turning 18' in the previous book and like...yet another reason why this book feels supremely icky. Also, why is it only the daughters that get taken? In the original story, the daughters of Wendy's line fly with Peter, but that's wholesome. This makes no sense. What about Darling sons? If the Darling women are already aware of their fate, why would they continue to have children willingly? Did no one ever take a male Darling to Neverland to see if he might also retain his ancestor's memories? What if that was the problem all along? What is it about the female mind that allows them to have this quirk?? If Nikki had actually plotted this book perhaps these are things she could've addressed and explained.

When Peter takes Winnie to Neverland, he clarifies to all the Lost Boys that they're not allowed to touch her(in a sexual way, of course.) Peter says that fucking the Darlings is how they got into this mess in the first place. And it's later explained that Peter was in love with OD, so I assume this means they slept together. Naturally, that makes Tinkerbell jealous, and she goes about her shadow stealing. So Peter creates this rule that the Lost Boys can't touch the Darlings anymore even though the one who killed the OD in the first place is no longer alive. Then Winnie shows up, and it takes a grand total of two days for them to break the rule. And what happens? Nothing. There are no consequences at all. So what was the point?! Also, sex with the Lost Boys is so good that Winnie decides she wants to live in Neverland forever. She's known these boys a total of maybe 3 or 4 days at best, and she is ready to live with them FOREVER.

And that's it. That's your summary of The Never King, pretty much. Now we're onto book two. Now, if this had been one longer book, Nikki could have spent time fleshing out the different islands of Neverland. She could have spent time creating actual personalities for her 97 POV characters so that they didn't all sound like one single entity.

The Dark One begins where The Never King left off, which furthers my belief that it should have been ONE BOOK. Peter opens the box that contains his shadow and TWO pops out. WOW. So far, I've got no idea what a shadow does in this world. In Barrie's version, the shadow represents Pan's inability to age. And there are theories that it's supposed to mean that Pan is dead. But in this, we have both a life and a death shadow. So, who knows what that means? I know having a death shadow makes you Neverland's Dark One. Now, I was under the impression that Vane was Neverland's Dark One, but apparently, he is the Dark One on a different island. Can you guess which island? DARKLAND. Also, the Dark One makes me think of Once Upon a Time and Rumplestiltskin and how Peter Pan was his father. I'm convinced that's where Nikki got 95% of her Inspo for this.

I wish there were more information on the faeries of this world. I'm far more interested in the mechanics of Neverland than anything else. I'm curious as to how Neverland is compared to the real world. They live in a giant tree but have a working stove and light switches. They somehow can brew coffee with an actual coffee machine. I know there's a magical lagoon, I know that they find Hook in a place called DARLINGTON(lmao, what?!). That's about all I know because Winnie spends the rest of her time fucking the Lost Boys or thinking about how she wants to fuck the Lost Boys. And don't give me that excuse of 'this is a fantasy. It doesn't need to be explained." That's precisely WHY it needs to be explained. What's the point of writing a fantasy novel if you're not going to tell us about the world you've built? This book is only about fucking the Lost Boys(which, if you want to write all about sex, there is nothing wrong with that. Go for it. More power to you. But why choose a fairytale centered around children?) It's never explicitly stated if these things exist because of Neverland's magic, they're just there, and I'm supposed to accept it. When I read fantasy of any sort, I'm always wondering how things work. That's what happens when you read something, guys.

Back on track. Now that Winnie is permanently staying in Neverland, Pan and the Lost Boys, except Vane, are no longer interested in the other girls in Neverland. Or as they're so kindly called 'lost pussy.' And this all has to do with Winnie. They don't want her to see them interact with other girls because it'll hurt her fee-fees. But again, they have known her for FOUR DAYS at this point. Maybe a bit more. What is so special about Winnie that it's changing the personality of every single boy she meets? (Not that they had much character, to begin with, that is.) Kas is even willing to forgo getting his wings back for her. The answer? Nothing. Winnie has absolutely nothing unique or special except that she doesn't care that she was kidnapped and gang-banged. They think of her as fuck doll basically--if I have to hear them call her 'our Darling' one more time, I'm going to vomit. I know Winnie acts like it's all cute and like a unique nickname, but they called every Darling that came to Neverland Darling. If you wanted to make it memorable, they would call her by her real name. Or like Vane did exactly one time 'Win'. And like it's OK, I guess if you want to write about a girl just there to get fucked(I don't get that as a kink but whatever), I still don't understand why these boys are so invested in Winnie. I don't get why Vane, the meanest and scariest out of all of them, rescued her from having her mind broken. What was the point of even GOING to the fae palace? He repeatedly rebuffs her advances, tells her no, and tells her to back off, but she doesn't listen because she's determined to have him. She even goes as far as to start trying to unbutton his pants, and then when he attacks her for it, everyone acts like he was in the wrong. But in reality, she was the one who assaulted him. She's a repeat assaulter. She even shoved her hand down Kas and Bash's pants when they told her they weren't in the mood to entice them to fuck her.

We know nothing about Winnie except that she likes sex. We know that her prostitute neighbor was "the best" and taught her to use her body to get what she wanted from an extremely young age. Remember, by the end of this book, Winnie just turned 18 like a week ago, and she claims to have been having sex for years. So, she was groomed by this neighbor and nowhere is this depicted as evil. There's nothing wrong with enjoying sex, but THIS is not okay. I don't think there's anything wrong with having multiple partners, nor do I find experimenting as a teenager wrong. Winnie's behavior could be understandable if it were made clear that her neighbor groomed her, and it was not okay, but it's talked about if it's a great thing and only her insane mother was the problem. (Let's not mention that that was Pan's fault.) I understand that Stockholm syndrome happens, but it takes TIME to happen. Not two days. It's a gradual thing, ya'll. It's a psychological thing. If Winnie were trying to sleep with everyone as a way to one-up and escape, I'd understand that. But she's doing it because she is desperate for their attention, which I don't get. Like...Idk, man; I just don't get it. There's a point where Winnie feels literal envy for coffee steam because it's closer to Peter's face than she is????? She is so pathetic; I can't even.

Maybe it's just me, but I don't understand the desire to write about sex with "just-18-year-olds". As a grown-ass woman, at least write about ADULTS having sex. Not freshly turned 18 girls. It's the same as a man obsessing over 'barely legal 18 years old!!!' porn. Winnie is infantilized constantly. When they talk about her appearance, they call her tiny and weak and skinny all the time(yet, she murdered a pirate without even breaking a sweat and super quickly, too??) and then they call her a little girl all the time. It's disgusting. There is a hefty emphasis on her age in The Never King and how the Lost Boys are meant to look like teenage boys who are all supposedly super hot. The line was, "boys with the presence of men." Like...Nikki, you are married with a child. What are you doing?

EDIT: I deleted a paragraph because I thought the original Darling was Wendy, somehow, but it got lost in translation. I was mistaken. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ my b

Cherry and Captain Hook also get POV chapters in this. And they're also apparently siblings. Cherry is another Winnie POV because the only thing she cares about is getting fucked by Vane. She dreads seeing her bro but has to make sure she looks cute since she's going to be with Vane. She wears a dress and no panties to trek through the fucking jUNGLE. She calls herself the only girl amongst the lost boys even though there are 'town girls' at the Never Tree ALL THE TIME. And since everyone on Neverland supposedly never ages, she would have seen all the past Darlings when they came to Neverland since Hook kidnapped Wendy at some point and used Cherry as a bartering chip when Peter retaliated by kidnapping Smee. Also, Hook says Cherry was a child when he lost his hand, but...we're told people don't age in Neverland...so does that mean Cherry is a child?? Did this book actually hit the pedophilia mark? She talks shit about Winnie 24/7, which is so pick me of her. "Her boobs aren't as big as mine, and she's rail thin." "I'm bruised cuz he fucked me, Winnie is bruised cuz she assaulted him and made him mad, so he choked her." *smug grin* OKAY? CHERRY? WHAT'S YOUR POINT?

Winnie asks Pan how can she get Vane when he’s been rebuffing all her advances, and he tells her to stop trying so hard, and Winnie has an epiphany about it. OF COURSE, MAYBE I SHOULDN’T THROW MYSELF AT SOMEONE WHO HAS REPEATEDLY TOLD ME NO!? She’s so desperate to make sure all the Lost Boys are with only her that she’s willing to do whatever is possible to get the one who DOESN’T WANT HER. (yes, I know that he eventually gives in and claims he wanted her all along, but up until then, we didn't know that, and it reads as rapey af) I want to clarify that this is not a sexy thing to do. I don’t give a fuck if this is a dark romance and that it’s a woman pursuing the man. When you are repeatedly told no or ATTACKED because you don’t take no for an answer, then SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH YOU. IT’S NOT SEXY THAT WINNIE WON’T ACCEPT NO FOR AN ANSWER. IT’S GROSS. You have three other Lost Boys willing to fuck you, Winnie. Accept that and move on.

Winnie learns at some point, her mom was pregnant with her while in Neverland. (I have SO many questions.) Peter explains that Merry was someone he and the Lost Boys were fond of, which contradicts every internal thought they have ever had but alrighty. Winnie acts shocked that her mom never told her when her mom never told her ANYTHING. Now that she knows this, suddenly she's like, omg, you're right, Neverland felt like home from day one(what? where?), and he says...he says...that because she was there when she was a FETUS...THAT'S WHY WHEN SHE'S IN HIS ARMS, IT FEELS LIKE HE'S COME HOME?!?!? I want to leave this place.

Some stuff happens, Pan gets his shadow, and they all win--Winnie also gets a death shadow. THE BOOK ENDS. At least now, there won't be such a power imbalance between her and the Lost Boys. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Sex scenes...there's not much I can say without my head exploding, so I'm going to try to keep this short. Those of you who find this hot....are you okay? Do you need some help? Do you genuinely think getting your clit rubbed by a soapy rag feels terrific? (also, you shouldn't WASH YOUR VAGINA BRO. YER GONNA GET A YEAST INFECTION.) Do you orgasm in 30 seconds from a couple of thrusts and zero foreplay? Because I don't buy that for a minute. It feels like highway robbery that people had to pay for this.

There are points when she’s writing from Kas’ perspective, and then literally, she forgets whose POV she’s supposed to be writing from and switches to Bash’s. If you need to look for yourself, one example is in chapter 15. and then once again in chapter 18 when Winnie forgets that it was Bash who tied her up TWO SECONDS ago but said it was Kas.

Anywho...that's all I've got. With every booktok recommended book I read I am more and more inclined to not support authors who promote on booktok. Every single one has been of this caliber and it's truly depressing.

The Dark One picks up right where The Never King ended. We know Pan’s shadow, along with an unexpected second shadow, have been found. Likewise, Winnie has made her choice to return to Neverland and live with Pan and the Lost Boys. In TDO we come along for the adventure that ensues following the discovery. We learn where loyalties lie, we have questions answered, and new mysteries unfold.

I don’t want to say much because I don’t want to give anything away. I’ll tell you that I loved seeing Winnie’s strength in this installment. She gives as good as she gets and isn’t afraid to be vulnerable.

“…stop treating me like a fragile toy. I’m not. I’m a china cup that has been broken so many times that I’m never sure if I’m a cup or just separate pieces held together by glue and sheer determination, molded into a cup-like shape. I know how to crack and I know how to mend. At least with you all, I know I will never mend alone.”

We also see more than just the superficial with Vane in TDO and, if you weren’t sure about him before, I think you’ll swoon now.

The Dark One is not a Disney-esque Peter Pan retelling. Pan and his Lost Boys are dïckîsh, dėpravėd, a dash dėränged, and I want MORE! And I’m in a huff over the cliffy because WTA-FCUKING-F?!?!?! I mean, yes, we saw where it was heading. But 😳🫣🤬

Very very dark retelling of Peter Pan and his lost boys. This series is sexy, deliciously dark, full of lust and torment. Book 2 didn’t disappoint!

The Dark One

I couldn’t wait to start this installment due to it’s Cliffhanger. But The storyline picks up right where it ended in the last book- thank God – that Cliffhanger was over the top

I want you to close your eyes for moment and I bet you money that you do not remember Peter Pan and the lost boys like this ……
let's not fool ourselves and think that this is going to be sweet romance book…… just admit that this is dark erotic tale , and come on what do you think one woman is going to do with 4 adult sexy alpha males? That are basically starving for one woman’s attention. If I have to spell it out for you, then you shouldn't be reading this book.

So yeah, this is dark, twisted version of Neverland
… yeah, Neverland is full of magic and creatures. Yeah, the author was able to pretty much use all of the characters you remember from your youth, she just put her own twist to it.

Will there be betrayal?
Will there be people that we underestimate?
Will Peter Pan and the lost boys Be able to Find the ‘Shadow”?
Will Vane Be able to control his dark Shadow?
Will Kas and Bash return to their fae kingdom?

Fair warning.
And damn there was another Crazy Cliffhanger ……This one’s more over the top than the last one.

Its not one of the best written romances out there but so bingable and I completely devour the audiobooks. Short but not that sweet and I'm sad that the third one isn't available in my book app. The end had such an intriguing cliffhanger. I'm not one for cliffhanger usually but this has me very very curious

What happens when you mix a reverse harem with the fictional Peter pan and the lost boys who really aren't boys but good-looking supernatural guys with big dicks and even bigger darksides! The dark One is book two in this fuckfest and Nikki St Crowe held nothing back!!!! This was a whole lot of sex done dirty! Holy shit! I think Winnie could give Linda loveless some lessons on how to give head. No wonder these guys are falling at her feet. This is erotica at its best and the storyline isn't bad either. I do love how Nikki has to given each of these characters depth and back stories that makes you like them and even lust after them. This isn't about sweet words and actions its raw and in your face and the words and sex is really hard, dirty and at times over the top! But Nikki St Crowe is a awesome writer and she isnt afraid to let lose! This series is a total guilty pleasure so if adult language or act's bother you its not for you. Their was a twist on the last half of the book that I did see coming and all I'm gonna say is.... Love makes us do stupid shit! If I was Cherry I'd fucking start running now! Big mistake! Until next time Luv's💗💋

I’ve been dying to get my hands on The Dark One since I fell in love with The Never King, and oh my god it was so worth the wait!

I honestly don’t even know where to begin. Winnie’s character growth in TDO is *chefs kiss*. She finally stakes her claim on Pan and The Lost Boys, and I love seeing the softness she brings to the group. Also. I’m pretty sure I’ve fallen even more in love with Vane in this book, and I didn’t think that was possible.

There’s still tons of Neverland political drama, as well as some shady shit with a scorned lover, AND more secrets are revealed about Pan and the boys. I’m legit gagging for book 3, I need it after that cliffy 😩😭

“Maybe we’re all a little fucked up and vile. Maybe that’s why I feel like I might actually belong here.”

This series is the perfect unhinged escapism. I'm so addicted to these books and Vane. This was so much better than book 1. This only gets better as the story progress and the world building is also expanding as we move forward with the plot and the mysteries of Never land. There's still a lot to unpack but I am so ready for all the drama and thrill.

The smut was just so hot and delicious and it is one thing this series is famous for and I did started this series for that but I stayed for plot and Peter Pan and Vane now.

The relationship between the lost boys and Winnie feels a little forced when they all go to the emotional side of it because it all started with sex. But I feel some kind of different connection between Vane and Winnie and maybe it's because they both have broken pasts and they both are in need of some family of their own, but I highly ship these two.

➸ Vane: Give me all the broken hearted and dangerous man. Vane is the best character and my favourite in this series. He's brutal, unforgiving and vicious but he's also a man who hides so much of his true-self behind the 'The dark one' personage the people created for him. He really went from “I want to kill and ruin Darling” to “Let me take care of you and kill for you” in this book. I can't wait to know more about his mysterious and dark past.

Vane inhales and says on a growl, “Darling, who did that to you?”

“I am here,” he says, his voice raspy at my ear as he holds me at his side, his fingers trailing up my arm. “Do you feel that?”
“Yes.” I shiver beneath him.
“I am here and I am real and I’m not going anywhere.”

Do I really need to give you any more reasons for my obsession with him?

➸ Pan: He is dangerous and possessive but he's also such a softie inside for Winnie and his people. I liked seeing this side of him where he not only wants Winnie to be his and lost boys girl but also wants to take care of her and all her scars.

“He is an unholy sight. And I will never stop sinning for him.”

➸ Winnie: She's still oscillating between broken darling or horny darling. I seriously want her to pick up some other personality traits and we get it she has high libido all the time for all four lost boys but stop being a pathetic and whiny girl who only wants lost boys and their glorious dicks.

➸ Kas and Bash: The twins are the normal one in their group, well as normal as a person on Never land can be. They are merciful, sweet and caring but I still don't fully believe them. I like Bash though, but Kas gives me an ick.

The ending? Cherry seriously needs to go and fuck herself before Vane gets there and kill her by his own damn hands. I need to pick up book 3 soon because what the actual fuck was that ending?

If I had a £ for every time I shouted 'but that makes NO SENSE' while listening to this audiobook I'd be rich, rich I tell you.

I want to say this was better than the first one but that would be a lie. There's still no world building, no character development (in fact, more characters are added in here who make no logical sense) and only a vague outline of a plot. Again, it's a series of sex scenes with a thinly veiled plot built around them. The sex scenes aren't even that good to compensate.

Yet I'm still here listening to these books. I'm developing some kind of involuntary twitch every time someone says the word 'darling', and I want to scream into the void every time one of the blokes mentions Winnie's downstairs area but I just can't stop listening. I hate it here.

Well, we stepped up our porn game in this one. Good god, the twins gave me all the kink I could possibly want. Plus the raw intensity that is Vane. Of course we can’t live without Pan’s possessiveness.

Outside of the smut we discover almost everyone is related to a key player from the original story, interesting.

Winny managed to make an enemy of her greatest ally. Way to go you horny bitch! 🤣💀

Then Pan’s damn shadow, that thing’s slippier than a greased pig.

Overall another entertaining romp through Neverland.

Even though I still enjoyed this one, I didn't love it as much as I did with the first book, I guess with this one I kind of lost that connection I had with the characters as the focus seemed to be more on their sexual episodes which kind of lost me for a bit, but in no way am I saying it wasn't hot because yep the heat factor went up a notch.
Out of all of the characters Vane's book was the one I couldn't wait to jump into, the dark untouchable one, and he didn't disapoint.

If you're looking for a mind-blowing worldbuilding or a deep and meaningful fairy book, this is not for you but holy freaking hell! The spice is so worth it and let's not fool ourselves anyone who picks this is for the smut not sweet Peter Pan of our childhood😂

I liked The Dark One more than The Never King because there's more character development and the plot makes a lot more sense and it's more interesting than before and those last few chapters and cliffhanger? Unbelievable! I can't wait for the third book.

The dark tale of Peter Pan trying to reclaim the shadow that was taken from him by Tinkerbell. Winnie has decided to stay in Neverland with Pan and the Lost Boys. But as the tensions continue to rise between Pan and Captain Hook and the fae court, it is anyone's guess what shall happen next.

The sex was steamy and the plot was fast paced. I am loving this read.

“This is all so f**king stupid”
^^^ yeah….it kind of is.

This is a dark fantasy, fairy tale retelling of sorts, but what’s interesting is the most unbelievable part about this whole novel isn’t the magic or flying or eternal youth….it’s how these people could fall in love with each other simply because of sex. Insane. There is zero romantic chemistry or love potential there at all. Winnie is just majorly desperate for attention, approval, affection, she’s just bland. Needy, whiney, h*rny, and bland. She’s perfect for their harem though because she’s able to shift into whatever each man needs, because she needs to be whatever they want so that she feels wanted, I guess because her mother really messed her up.

So onto the story: it picks up immediately where book one left off and it’s honestly just more of the same.

Here are some questions I had reading this book:

-Why are they mad that Vane defended himself when Winnie essentially assaulted him? He told her no, she still touched him, and she got what she deserved.
-What is a brownie? (this question started in book one, and still hasn’t been answered by book 2 and I fear it never will be answered)
-Do the ladies of this novel have to be motivated by jealousy towards the Darling women? First Tink, now Cherry. They could just be dark and power hungry like the men are. We don’t have to always pit women against women for the attention of a man.
-Why do we have to focus on the twins’ hair? If we do nothing about it, then it was really filler material, as well as things like the random parakeet showing up.
-How is Wendy the great-great grandmother of Winnie if it was Wendy’s sister’s line that Pan was stealing the Darlings from? Or did Wendy have a kid before meeting Peter and he just stole her sister and then Wendy’s daughter when she was 18 and then continued with Wendy’s line? I am very confused concerning this.
-wait…so it wasn’t Wendy that helped Tink steal Pan’s shadow? I am very confused.
-okay, so if it was stolen pre-Wendy, then Wendy had a kid pre-kidnap? Me = Confusion.

So yeah….I did not love this one. It ended on a cliffhanger-ish again, where, sure, it’s a cliffhanger, but I don’t need to read the next book immediately, you know? Like, it was meh on the excitement level.

**Quick PSA based on content in this novel: please don’t ever put soap or a soapy washcloth near/in your nether regions, AFAB people. It’ll mess up the natural PH balance going on down there. Also, back door stuff? Spit is never the answer. That poor girl…Also, also, no safe words = no bueno**

The spice in this one😩 VANE🤌🏻🤌🏻🤌🏻🤌🏻

The Dark One is the sequel to The Never King. The storyline picks up right where it ended, and we go through the adventures of trying to get Pan’s shadow back along with more background info on our boys.

Honestly this was just spice with some plot. The plot we did get was really good though, and I love how confident Winnie has gotten in saying what she wanted. The ending was predictable but I still enjoyed it. Can’t wait to see what happens in the third book.

I love Vane

4.5 ⭐️

This one was SO MUCH BETTER than the first. Still spicy as all hell but I’m digging it and Vane is hands down my favorite. The plot was way better in this and I’m intrigued about what’s happening next!! But yes. It’s legit 🌽 ….. but I like it.

That cliff hanger 😳

Ok so this is the typical outcome of a story I really dislike.

A girl appears in an environment full of men and boys and out of nowhere, everyone is attracted to her and wants something from her.

There is this one guy that doesn‘t like no one but Peter. He doesn’t really talk and is closed off. But when it comes to Winnie he somehow is all over her and wants to protect her.
During that he is still this brooding guy.
I don’t like that and I don’t want that. Because there is only one girl other than Winnie who is kinda in love with this weird guy, they don’t have a good relationship what I think would’ve been pretty cool and fitting for this story.

The ending was kinda obvious at some point. I still hoped it would turn out different.
Also, every character that is mentioned in the two books has a POV. Why?? For what do we need that?

The second installment of The Vicious Lost Boys series felt like the first two should of been one entire book. Instead of breaking it up to 200ish pages.

Wasn’t expecting a lot considering how poor the first one, still disappointed. The writing style in book is very poor. There is frequent fragments, excessive one-sentence paragraphs, stiff dialogue. It was like I was reading something off a young beginner writer fanfiction on wattpad. I feel like if you are going to publish your work, then at least have a team of editors to help you. The editing process just did not seem evident.

The pacing is poor. Constantly jumping from one idea to another and different conversations just seem to come out of no where.

A lot of characters lacked a personality. Winnie, still has no personality expect maybe being horny and stubborn.

Vane’s character made very little sense to me. There is a scene in a lagoon, where he invites Winnie to come in the water. Then his next line is, I came in here to get away from you. Which basically just backtracks him inviting her in first place. It felt we were constantly going back and forth of “does he like her” or “does he not?”

The smut was just okay. Nothing really exciting. I felt like a lot of the time, it just happened randomly. No real build up. Maybe it’s just me but it felt like they would just randomly just go at it.

There was also a weird scene with a vine and started touching her in places. I’m just going to leave it at that. Found that a little odd. Maybe it just wasn’t for me.

Overall, I don’t think I’m going to continue the series. I think in general, the plot idea is there. But the lack of editing and depth just isn’t enough for me.
