4/5 stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐

I think it's safe to say that I'm officially Shadow Series trash™! 😂 While I enjoyed Shadow's Kiss- Shadow's Touch was even better! This completely exceeded my expectations, and I began to appreciate the main character even more. I also found the overall plot/story-line to be far more interesting, and couldn't believe it when I found myself at the end of this one-because I absolutely flew through it!

This is me getting out of the book rut I have been in since…… oh, I don’t know….. feels like 8 months.
description
”There is a seductive quality to the dark. You are unable to see all and are forced to feel more.”

This book was an unknown for me. It came up on my FB feeds, so I did the sample, read the first page and was completely hooked. Like sucked into it hooked.
I honestly had no fucking clue what was going on half of the time. By the end I was still guessing and questioning myself.
To understand book 1, you HAVE to read book 2. I guess you could go out of order; however, that is NOT RECOMMENDED.
When you open the first page you are thrown into a scene of a girl running in the woods, she has no clue who she is, where she is or why she is running. She blacks out and wakes the next morning in a house, only to be threatened with death. As the book moves on, Violet tries to remember her past, before it catches up with her.
I am in such a weird spot, I can’t really talk about characters without giving shit away. So just know all the characters in the book are badassery.
This is one of those books that I seriously wish I wouldn’t have started until the series is complete, now I am stuck in book purgatory and will have to patiently stalk wait for the next installment.
description
I have only ever stalked 2 authors, and when I say stalk I mean blow up their email boxes, I guess I’ll be adding a third to the list.
I do have some negative things to say, like 2 things.
1. I would get an editor or a beta reader to help with the grammatical errors. It wasn’t like “Holy SHIT, I can’t read it” bad, just here and there.
2. The author jumps, as in one-minute Violet is riding in a car and the next she is in a jet, with nothing in between. I also questioned the time period, I wasn’t sure when exactly this was all unfolding, I figured it out when Elijah whipped out a cell phone.
Even with the two-listed crap negative things, I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves NA Para Rom. T.M. Hart really did an awesome job on the series so far. I cannot wait to see what else she conjures up.

Mixed feelings on this one. I pushed it a bit and gave it three stars.

I mean, having flashbacks in books is okay, but having a whole tale of her past all in one single freaking book? Confusing. I literally thought that the original characters had been wiped off the face of the planet and only some survived, but then realised it was all her memories.

Also, kind of weird, she met the shadow king and he gave her memories, and when the BOOK ended she was just in the same place.

It would have been a lot better broken into flashback chapters, rather than the entire past being the second book, or at least this could have been published as a prequel.

It's like if Stephen King published It in two separate copies, and actually published the one where they were adults first and the one where they were children after. Confusing.

Saying all this though, I did get introduced to a love interest that is just SO MUCH BETTER than Elijah. We have here an element of childhood love, a second chance, and enemies-to-lovers.

However don't think will be picking up book 3.

EXCELLENT

That was one hell of a story and explains so much. This is heartbreaking and gutted me. Holy smokes, I honestly am at a loss for words and don't know what to say. I just want to get to the next book because there is alot happening and I just cannot see, in any shape or form, how this is going to move forward. I'm trying to piece all this together and I'm at a loss here. Gotta keep going!!

3 stars - this book has me so frustrated because I I see the potential, but it just doesn’t do it. Most of all, it’s the writing and the relationships. The writing, especially the dialogue, are just a bit immature (there is a witch called Balcalis who ‘akkurs’). Second, the relationship between the prince and the mc is just not developed well. She becomes wet the moment he is near, but their conversations are 99% shouting at eachother. Real romance isn’t really there.

This book is second in the series was definitely more enjoyable as it revolved mainly around Violet the female protagonist in the story. Less of Elijah, which I was personally more grateful for. I had a hard time liking his character due to his ways of being and treating Violet. Violet’s story keeps you intrigued through the book and things are starting to make more sense with reasons behind each event. This book you also see a lot more of the Shadow Prince; he’d become such an intriguing mystery with little appearances in the last book. The cliff hanger is a good one too, I was glad I am reading this book with all the series already out and immediately started on the next book

*SPOILERS*
4.5 stars

Ok I really liked this book. And it's interesting because I rarely like flashback books, I'm usually like ok let's get on with the story. But I really enjoyed reading about how Violet and The Shadow Prince met.

My favourite part of this book (aside from seeing the prince and Violet interact) was the lack of Elijah. The man was not mentioned a single time except for a little annotation at the end. I have a lot of questions about Elijah though, but I will talk about that later.

In the first chapter we get a flashback to Violet when she was eight and we see that she is very close to an orphaned boy named Zagan. Immediately you probably assume that this Zagan boy is going to become the Shadow Prince because he was never mentioned by anyone in the first book.
(I got a small heart attack when Zagan called Adriel "aunt" because like hello? I was full-on ready to ship him and Violet as adults. But false alarm, they're not actually related at all)
We learn that Zagan leaves at the age of eight and Violet never sees him again. (Well for a couple of years at least)

Over a decade later, a proposal is made to the Radiant court on behalf of the Shadow Prince, to establish peace between the two courts through a marriage. So basically Violet and the prince are to get married. Violet goes to this creepy mansion where the prince supposedly resides but she doesn't find anyone there other than an old lady called "the crone" (how charming)
For quite a while, the only people Violet talks to are Killian (a little at the start) and the master of arms (I think?) Of the the Shadow court named Maxim.
We get a little backstory for Killian and Violet's relationship and it is very clear that Killian is fully in love with Violet. She, on the other hand, doesn't feel the same way and even reveals to him that she never has felt any attraction to anyone or has never been turned on by anyone. She therefore thinks that she cannot experience these types of feelings.
This felt very strange to me because, from what we saw in the last book, she definitely had plenty of sexual attraction to Elijah. And I thought that they would've already met at this point. But then again, since she never mentions him perhaps not.

Maxim is entertaining, I really liked his presence and it compensated for the lack of G content that we received. Again, from the impression I got from the last book, I thought that G and Violet had a much deeper relationship than the one that was explained in this book. It felt like G was just this archangel that worked for her mother and occasionally saw Violet. Really not much more than that.
Regarding Maxim though, I feel like he's hiding something? Violet keeps referencing these revolution posters throughout the book and when she asks Maxim about the court and the revolution, he tells her a story about the Shadow King who allegedly abandoned everyone and just left because he was sick of his job? (That's the impression I got anyway) He also has these two lackies, Stefan and some other dude who's name I forgot.
And when Violet stumbles across a group of revolutionaries chanting "welcome to the new age" over and over again like they're in some kind of maddened cult, the lackies stop Violet and tell her that she shouldn't go get any closer to the cult members. (Seems like a reasonable thing for them to do)
Violet asks the lackies whether or not Maxim knows about this and they just share a look and boom we just move on.
Hold up? Can we just back up for a sec? That was super suspicious.
Violet: "Hey does your friend know about this cult?"
The lackies:👀👀
Is that a yes? Because to me it sounds like Maxim could potentially be the leader of said cult.

Also another really strange thing is when Violet asks Maxim to invite the Court to a dinner at the creepy mansion. He literally tells her "yep they accepted the invite, they'll be here tonight" and then a random dude glamoured to look like Killian shows up and gets in a fight with the Shadow Prince. Then it's revealed that the court were never even coming in the first place? Like what? Maxim my dear, are you secretly evil? Are you working with the new villain?

Which brings me to villain. The Contessa I think she's called? Basically she is said to have raised the Prince and completely messed him up. It's revealed that she's the one who issued the marriage proposal because she wanted Violet and The prince to get together so she manipulated their dreams to get them to be attracted to each other. I mean you and me both bestie, I'm rooting for them too but why do you want them to be together? I don't understand.

And now let's talk about the Shadow Prince. So at first, he seemed like he wasn't even there but he was, he was just watching her from the shadows (creepy much?)
And then whenever Violet would try to get close to him or talk to him he would just tell her to leave.
Throughout the whole book, it is very apparent that the two of them have this undeniable attraction to each other (which is a first for Violet and probably for him too)
Violet seems ready to jump in bed with him and get to know him but he keeps trying to push her away.
She asks him questions like "what's you name?" "Where is your family?" And he just goes "I don't have a name or a family"
Ok so clearly he doesn't want to have anything to do with her.
They keep having this back and forth where he tells her to leave and she doesn't listen. We eventually find out that the reason he doesn't want her to stay is because he feels like he won't be able to control his feelings for much longer and he doesn't want his dark side to ruin her. Basically he sees himself as a monster and she's all like "no you're beautiful" (yk all those touchy feelings)
Then out of nowhere she tells him "there's is good and light in you, I know it, I've seen it, I saw it a long time ago" and then she just calls him "Zagan"
Like I'm not surprised that he's Zagan but since when does she know it's him? It's never explained how she found out or when but I guess she just does? I don't know.

They end up sleeping together, although the only reason it happens is because Zagan thought he was dying (from his fight with fake Killian) and that he would never see her again and therefore, wouldn't ruin her. But shortly after, he tells Violet to leave (I swear that's the only thing that man can do)
As Violet prepares to finally listen to him and leave, the crone stops her and tells her she must stay and "help the dying Halfling find the Light again"
This is when we find out that Zagan is both a child of Shadow and light (which would make sense considering Violet thought Zagan was a Radiant when they were children)
This is also why The Contessa wants him, because as a Halfling, Zagan is the most powerful being. (Why she wants Zagan and Violet together though, I still don't know)
A few minutes after this revelation, Violet gets attacked by the Contessa and Zagan tries to save her. The Contessa reveals that Zagan and Violet are connected through the Vinculum and are the next millennium's fated mates pair. This is why they only felt attracted to each other. Now this is where I got really confused and where all my questions about Elijah come in.

I thought Elijah and Violet were fated mates and linked together. If Violet can only feel an attraction to her linked partner, Zagan, why does she feel so attracted to Elijah? (I'm assuming her real partner is Zagan because they were born on the same day and Elijah revealed in the first book that his original fated mate had been killed)
So why does she feel equally attracted to the both of them when clearly, Zagan was made for her? Why does she even have a connection to Elijah if he was the previous millennium's prism? And most importantly, what even is Elijah's purpose to the story?? Like I'm sorry that your partner got killed off as a baby but Violet is already paired off, go find someone else.

At the end of the book we join back to the moment in the timeline that began the first book, Violet lost her memory and ended up in Elijah's cabin. That means that Violet and Elijah had never even met??? Why did it feel like they had had a previous relationship in the first book?

And one last thing that confuses me about the first book are the flashbacks. (Yk the ones she got in her dreams)
When I first read them I thought they were flashbacks, right? You know the one where she was running through the halls searching for HIM and when she found him he told her she shouldn't have come and that he wouldn't be able to control himself. Or the one where she says that she loves him and he still thinks he's unworthy of her love. Or the one where she knows he's watching her and she pretends she doesn't know he's watching and all she's thinking is how she wants him.
Those flashbacks are obviously about Zagan right? But we've seen the extent of their relationship from their introduction at the start of the marriage to when Violet finally gets her memories back. None of those things ever happened.
And even if these were somehow about Elijah and not Zagan, we've seen the extent of their relationship too, which only began when Violet knew nothing about her previous self. Again NONE of those things ever happened.

And now I'm scared because am I gonna have to go through a book full of Elijah and Violet? Because at the end of this book, Violet subconsciously left Zagan to go to Elijah. And I know we've already read what happens after but maybe it's some sort of foreshadowing?
I hope not because I can't go through that.

Wow just wow! What an amazing and brilliant series, I couldn't believe how wonderful this story is. I send my praise to the author because this book had me glued to every word. I have read a lot of books and I always enjoy finding a book that keeps me on my toes. I love the depth of these characters and especially after reading book one, you just change your deception. I can't wait to read the next book which hopefully will be soon. EVERYONE read this.

Disappointing

I read the first one and was only half interested. I continued but I mostly skimmed through this one. It was all filler. So much unnecessary exposition. Just like the first one there are characters that are mentioned briefly but don't add to the story and then don't come into play again. It was super disappointing and it didn't answer many questions. Just like the first book you don't really know what's going on half of the time. And then there still needs to be a lot of editing.

Reread

This book was an absolute great accompaniment to the first. Starting were it had left off. I have never read much like this series. In the first book you are learning as Voilet does, just miniscule things about what she has forgotten. In this story though, you are plunged head first into her memories.

Still the world building and dark cold atmosphere is there. The music again latched onto me so I could not leave this world. Helping construct the Author's intentions and moods for the scene. I'm reeling from the story and the music is still in my blood.

Goodreads Rachel Beamin said it best. I am stuck in book purgatory. Although I can still read the next installment, until I do I will be unfit for anything else. The characters, their past, their arcs. Honestly I can't think of anything I didn't enjoy.

Stories where two people are destined. Drawn to one another. It's relationships we as humans dream of, but also fear. A straight ticket to hell if you ask me but the ride would be incredible. I love the magic in these words. The weather changing the mood. Agnst tearing my heart apart. Even the hurt as the worthy believe in their suffering.

As the past meets the present I could feel the ice and echos of sorrow as she dove into the Prince's room. The aura he has spent years building there drowning Voilet. The loneliness was all together too real. Everything surrounding him dilapidated and broken. It broke my heart. I felt too much.

Shadow's Kiss was given to me for Christmas, I finished in a day. Of course who has time to wait on a shipment I bought the next on kindle. A day later I need the rest. This story has sunk it's claws in. And really the music....how did the Author do it? They were perfect. If a scene felt right and no other music was offered I would replay some of these or some from the last book. It was amazing and subversive you have to try it.

“No matter where I go. No matter what I do. I cannot escape you. How much more am I to take? You win. I will do whatever you want. Just release me of this.”

The corners of his mouth were tilted ever so slightly. It was the closest thing to a smile I had seen on him. He believed I was the angel—he did not deserve—come to grant him final peace. Come to grant him death.

“I will always come for her.”

Zagan the Shadow Prince

*****Spoilers*****

This second book is the story of Violet and Zagan and goes back in time from the first book. Zagan, also known as the Shadow Prince and Violet have an interesting beginning. They share a birthdate and grew together as children until he disappears suddenly and isn't heard from again until Violet learns his identity. She's offered a marriage to the Shadow Prince, sight unseen in order to unite the light and shadow and agrees to the union. Only, Violet has a plan to kill the shadow prince once they're married and the marriage is announced to the world at large. After that happens, Violet plans to use his death as a rally cry to get each side to stop warring against one another. Unfortunately, Violet is unaware of subplots and destiny because she has the same kind of bond with Zagan as she does with Elijah from book one. The question then becomes what's going on with the prophecy hinted at and the one male for one woman prism bond? Hopefully the next book will shed light.

I liked that Violet was more herself and had memories in this book, it cut down on the frustration tremendously. I'm not sure how I feel about this book being told second though. I wanted the book to pick up where the first one left off with perhaps a quicker rundown of the past, instead, this book is a complete story of that past so it doesn't move the present any further. There's no indication as to why Violet lost her memory though we learn what happened with the light and dark inside of her. Violet blasts all but the tiniest spark of her light into Zagan to keep him alive and then takes off to where that spark resides which is how she got to Elijah where the first book starts.

Most of the book is building Violet and Zagan. Violet trying to figure out why she's living in a manor with only the Crone and Zagan. How Violet can complete her mission on top of puzzles and tidbits she learns along the way. Zagan trying to stay away from Violet despite the bond. Violet's preconceived notions about the shadow people being shattered, and learning more about the true evil she's facing. I enjoyed it though I had to have patience through the beginning since I didn't think I wanted the whole backstory.

6I had come to realize the dark could hold things which were too fragile for the harsh exposure of light."

Anotha one! (DJ Khaled voice 💁🏻‍♀️)
Again, this author did not disappoint! This book was so freaking good, I couldn't put it down, and believe me, I tried!! The world building in this story is on point. I'm so glad we got the back story to everything, and it really makes you appreciate the main characters in a whole different way. This book takes you on a roller coaster of emotions, one minute you're laughing at Violets outbursts and in the next chapter your heart is breaking for the dark prince.

Violet is such a strong character, and I love the fact that she was written in a really well rounded way. She was a tad bit on the hot headed side 😉 but that's part of her charm to me. She was relatable in all aspects of life. I also love how much she swears 🙊

The dark prince... I'm going to say it, from the beginning - CALLED IT!!!!!🙋🏻‍♀ You'll know what I'm talking about later if you haven't read the book. I really liked getting to know him better. He's such a complex character, and we haven't even scratched the surface as to who he really is and what he has been through, so I'm looking forward to the character progression with him!
Belcaris - That chick is a riot. She is hilarious with a dash of bitchy, and I was here for it. Her over use of the word "gurl" did make me want to slap her though.
Maxim - Meh, 🤷🏻‍♀️ I don't trust him. I may be wrong, but I think he is a snake in the grass and I'm not here for it. He is a hilarious drunk, but I think the author wrote him so agreeable in that scene that we would like him, just so he could screw us over later on and we wouldn't see it coming. Dirty, I tell you.

The Contessa - I'm really wondering what her whole deal is here. She seems like a scorned woman who is causing a war between 2 races to see her plans come to fruition.

The Crone has her moments, I like her grumpy old ways. Violet trying to interact with her is hilarious. I feel like there is more to her, it starts with an M, but I won't say more than that 🤐

First, I listened to the audio version of Shadow's Touch, and the narrator does a great job. I'd recommend listening to the audio if you can. I enjoyed the performance.

Really loving the uniqueness in this story! So far, these 2 books have been an entertaining, fun read. This book is the 2nd book in the series, but is actually more of a prequel book. I'd recommend reading the first book before this one, so you can enjoy the mystery of what happened to Violet. This book tells more in depth what Violet was up to before the events of the first book. I enjoyed reading the story unfolding. I do feel kind of sad about some of the events in the 1st book after reading this one though. I also wish there was more development between Violet and the Dark Prince. I really enjoyed their connection, and it felt more genuine than the mystical connection from the first book, so it'll be interesting to see how that story unfolds. Love all the magical, dark and spooky elements to this story! The thing that didn't connect with me was that Violet got on my nerves quite a bit. She was too much of the haughty princess. Way too rude, only thinks of herself, doesn't listen, and even though she says she isn't naïve, she totally is. She also doesn't use her intelligence to her benefit. Multiple times in the book, other characters even mention how dense she is. It was a bit too much at times. Overall, I'm really looking forward to the 3rd book! I find this story engrossing!

“𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝗮𝘂𝘁𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗽𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗹𝗼𝘃𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗵 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗰𝗼𝘀𝘁𝘀“

In my post on Saturday I did say I was jumping straight into book 2 in this series.

What I didn’t expect was to have finished it so quickly...

I am currently loving this series, and everything that is unfolding within it.

There were a few places in this book where I felt like slamming my head against a wall and screaming “get on with it already” definitely a slow slow burn but my god was it worth it!

What I didn’t expect though is for this second book to take you back and be set before the 1st one.

I’m actually in love with the fact it was done this way because you are able to get a better understanding of everything that happened and why Violet lost her memories in the first place.
Rather than people trying to explain it and piece it together in snippets during the original timeline. If that makes any sense.

This book also ends right where the first one started so I’m officially all clued up and ready to start the 3rd instalment!

𝗣𝗦𝗔 - If you can’t tell from the cover just like the 1st book this one also contains spice. So if you are not of age, or do not like that sort of content then I advise giving it a miss 😊

Rating - ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Holy crap. This just did an 180. Finally we get a heroine that supposed to have some clue what with the amnesia not having happened yet and her knowledge of this world she has been brought up is just so lacking. It’s like she never had any curiosity or asked any questions growing up. Or observed any kind actions around her to come to any kind of educated conclusions of her own. She claims to be a smart resourceful can-hold-her-own-strong-woman that does not need no man to protect her from the big bad world and YET she is constantly lured away in obvious traps, gets easily mistreated by the weakest of villains and takes forevaaa to recover afterwards after of course having to be repeatedly rescued by our brooding hero. Ugh. I thought this was a trilogy but I cannot find a third book in the series and yet it seems even that one ends in a cliffhanger as the ever so illustrious love triangle must continue on in its grand saga ways. Yuck. Honestly lost faith in this having any kind of closure giving ending and unless the ending explained drops into my lap I don’t think I will be continuing with the series.

Hmmm interesting

This whole book is a flash back to what happened to Violet before the events of the first book. It explains who she is, what her life was like, how she ended up married to the prince of darkness. The prince of darkness is as much of a prisoner as Violet is in the dark court and she has known him almost all of her life even though she thought he had been lost. It also explains how she is bonded to both him and Elijah and what caused both bonds.
I feel like both courts are the bad guys now not light vs dark and I'm not sure how this revolution is going to fix anything.
The book ends essentially where the first one began but now we know that the prince has been broken and has given up on seeing any light in himself. I feel the most helpful character was the crone and the little girl from the forest.
There are new characters introduced in this book that we had no mentions of in the first book and I'm intrigued to see what over arcing roles they might play as well as learning what they might have been apart of.

I feel as if this series was written out of order, this feels like it was meant to be the first book. It does not start off where the first book left off, rather it starts off with the events that occur before the first book. I'm not sure what the reason was for this, you could have wrote this as the first book, and then left the cliffhanger at the end of her losing her memories. It felt more like a prequel novel/novella than the second book in the series. We do get a lot of information on what she was doing before she lost her memories, who the shadow prince really is, and who is one of the villains. I am a little confused to how she can have a vinculum to both the shadow prince and Elijah? I feel like there is some inconsistencies in the book itself. I felt like the first book had a lot more drama and plot going on, while this book she mainly just sat in a mansion. Also, how long did she know that the shadow prince was Zagan? Did she recognize him right away when she first saw him?/

I am consumed by this series. Is it T.M. Hart's prose that binds me to it? The frustration I have felt as the world attempts to shelter from COVID for basically a year resulting in a need to release deep emotions in a crazy world? Fueled more by my anger because, just yesterday, a group of white supremicist anarchists stormed the U.S. capital in an attempt to stop our lawful, democratic processes? All of the above and a whole lot more? It doesn't matter why... I need to keep reading. The only reasons the third book isn't also finished are my required attendance at a doctor's appointment earlier and parenting duties. Seriously.

There is a bit of beauty in the beast here, mixed with a spark of Buffy badassadry (or insert anything other badass woman here). The psychology of nature vs nurture comes to mind as well. I fully expect to have difficulties sleeping tonight while I play a few scenes over in my mind.

Well done! I cannot wait to read the next books!

This book was sooo much better than the first. SOOOOO much better. Fuck Elijah, who is Elijah, I don't want my girl Vi to EVER look at Elijah or the Radiant court ever again. Dem are some bitches over there.

My heart flutter so many times over the interaction between Violet and the Prince of Shadows. I want to hold him, and love him, and put him my pocket where he will be safe and loved forever.

And Cardi B!!!! I know that's who a particular character is fashioned after. I mean hello she has her legal name in the book. This book just had everything. Before reading it I thought okay this is solid I guess I could push through. But now I want to devour the next book. I purchased it within seconds of finishing the last page.

Highly addictive and is a must for any paranomal lover's bookshelf.

Wow. Just effing WOW.
First, I LOVE character driven books and this book is NOT lacking in the character department. I hope that many of the side characters in both books get a spin off series of their own. The large and complex universe that Hart created demands to be explored.
Second, I was blown away by the level of knowledge and understanding it takes to write a character like Shadow. He is the most tortured and hauntingly dark character that I have ever read, and the author does not deviate from it-- which is beautiful and rare for authors now of days.
Third, I adored the small details that really brought to life the world that Hart created, from potion making to certain humorous moments to the diversity of the characters that she introduced.
Highly recommend!

Couldn’t Finish it

I thought the first book went downhill after Violet met Lilly but saw that there was a second book so I was willing to finish Book 1 and start on Book 2. I skipped the first two chapters because I was bored with the storytelling but then the following chapters were flashbacks that I don’t think were necessary. I stopped reading.

Based on Book 1 we know that she’s married to the shadow prince and that she attempted to assassinate him, therefore whole chapters dedicated to this should have been Book 1 instead of Book 2. By Book 2, I wanted to see more strong female character personality traits building and the blossoming relationship between Violet and the male lead (forgot his name already). Yeah, disappointing.

“It is more difficult for someone to say no to you when you’re touching them.”

I really struggled to get into this book. I was so excited to get the backstory of everything that led up to Violet’s memory loss in the first book, but everything just felt slow and I just kept wanting to get back to the present. I struggled with Violet and the Shadow Prince. I like her with Elijah, but I also like her with the Shadow Prince and I’m frustrated that I have to choose at some point. I felt that the revelation of who the Shadow Prince was was not handled well and it felt forced and inorganic. My favorite part was when Violet was raging to herself saying that she had had enough. The rest of the book was just okay, but enough to keep me needing to know what happens next.

3.5 ⭐️ I really liked this book but would have loved it more if it would have picked up at the end of book 1! Or some how integrated flashbacks to the present. This WHOLE book is what happened to Violet BEFORE she got to Elijahs cabin. Elijah is also not the only love interest. I like the new love interest of this book more! It makes more sense but you won’t get most of the whole picture until about 80% of the way through. So that’s frustrating as well. I liked the back story and history, but I would have liked to have known before hand what I was getting into… aka no pick up at the end of book 1’s cliff hanger. Luckily these are free on KU otherwise I’m not sure I would have wanted to invest my time and money. I’m curious where these will go with these 2 love interests though so onto book 3!
