The Fae King's Curse

Rate this book
Kirian and I were just twelve years old when I pulled him from the icy waters of the creek behind my house. As he looked in my direction with unseeing lavender eyes, I quickly realized our age was just about the only thing we had in common. He spoke with an accent, he had pointy ears, and he was so beautiful it made my heart ache. Oh, and he claimed to be a fae prince cursed by witches who stole his sight.

I thought he was crazy from hypothermia. Turns out, he wasn’t, and for some reason he keeps coming back. But a day in my world is a year in his. Every time I see him, he’s older. Wiser. Hotter.

Over the past six years, I’ve tried not to fall in love with him because the terms of the curse are clear: If he doesn’t wait for his fated mate in all ways, including an innocent (or not-so-innocent) kiss, he’ll be blind forever.

So when Kirian kisses me and pulls me through the portal to his realm, I make it my mission to do some damage control. It’d be a whole lot easier if he wasn’t determined to marry me... And if someone wasn’t trying to murder me every step of the way.

The Fae King’s Curse is book two in the Between Dawn and Dusk series by Jamie Schlosser. I have been so excited to get started on this book, to read Kirian’s story. And wow! This was amazing! Jamie Schlosser has a hidden talent for writing paranormal romance. This world she has created is both beautiful and treacherous. If you haven’t read it yet, I highly recommend reading the prequel, Between Dawn and Dusk. Not only is it amazing, it will introduce you to this world and also to Kirian.

The first born son of every king has been cursed with blindness until they find their fated mate. If they kiss any other, then they will remain blind permanently. Kirian is the son of the king of the Night Realm. Once a year, on his birthday, he is gifted a portal. He is twelve years old when he was pulled from the water in the human realm by the girl with the beautiful voice. He was drawn to her. One year in his world is only one day in the human realm. So each year he waited for his birthday so he could return to her.

Quinn Prescott couldn’t believe it when she saw the boy floundering in the water. They became best friends that day. And each day she returned to same place where they would spend time talking, fishing and forming an unbreakable bond of friendship. Only she remained a girl but every day, Kirian was older, bigger, stronger, and more beautiful than anyone she had ever seen before.

East Coast Queen

As the years pass, Quinn falls hopelessly in love with Kirian. But she knows she can never have him. She knows he has to find his fated mate to get his sight back. Only Kirian has other plans. He is tired of waiting. Quinn is eighteen now. He has waited thousands of years for her. She’s the only woman he wants for his queen.

Once Kirian and Quinn are in the Night Realm, they quickly realize that not everyone is happy he has chosen his queen. Someone wants her dead. In order to get answers, they must journey to the Shadowlands to speak with a witch. But the journey turns out to be much more dangerous than either of them realized. As they travel, though, their bond strengthens, their love grows stronger, and their resolve to be together is unbreakable.

male fae - Google Search

This book was simply amazing. I could see it all happening in my head as I read the words. Kirian and Quinn do get their happy ending, but, there are still other issues to be resolved, namely Kirian’s cousins, Damon, the king of the Dream Realm, and Zander, the King of the Day Realm, both of which are also blind by the same curse as Kirian. They are also searching for their mates, while trying to rule their kingdoms and right the wrongs of their fathers. Damon’s story will be next. And I can’t wait until it gets here.

Safety information at the end of the review
It was kind of Hades and Persephone's re-telling (?)

Well, not the "actual" retelling (More on this later)
But this was so good!!! I mean, just what I needed after a bad month of reading
It was trashy, but it was GOOD trashy.
I am trash for this lol

The Hero is definitely at the top of my book boyfriend list
He's #BfGoals
1)He loves to read books!! Oh goody!!! He is a bibliophile

2)He is  foody

3)Is Loyal af (Dude remained faithful to her and "waited" for her for 2000 years!!!

(4) The grumpy trope. He's not a brat, he's just grumpy (We stan grumpy people here)

5)heads over heels in love with heroine

Tropes in this book
Friends to lovers
Kinda slow burn
Grumpy and sunshine
The Hero is blind, so he's the first to fall in love with the heroine's personality.

Childhood sweethearts

Our MC's  meet when they're 12 and become friends
Their first interaction was adorable if you ask me,
Now here comes the twist... 1 day in the earth realm means 1 year in the night realm (H's home)

DO THE MATH!! I am NOt doing it lmao
Luckily, it wasn't weird

The Hero pissed me off when he "kidnapped" the heroine.
But honestly, I was reminded of Hades lol

It's really problematic, but she wanted to go there.
She had insisted on it first(read the book...you will understand what I am saying lol)
Whatever, it didn't bother me a lot.👉🏽👈🏽😅

They had a wonderful chemistry
It was a little dumb of her to leave her life behind.
But they were completely bonkers about each other
I mean, he almost gave up his kingdom because of her. (They were the same level of crazy lmao)
As I said before, this was absolutely cliché, but sooooo entertaining.
I highly recommend this!!

Honorable mentions:
1) There are gnomes in this world, and they are lovely little people!! I want the gnomes rn!!😭😤
2) The MC is insecure about her appearance, but it is treated in a realistic manner.
3)This is definitely OTT, and Hero cares only for the heroine
Which was a kind of irresponsible imo
But he's choosing her over his own people.😂
4) The "villain" was quite predictable.
I don't know how the MC couldn't make the connection!

Safety
Dual virgins
NO OW/OM drama
The Hero waited for 2000 years (Hats off to this dude)
Both are faithful to each other

Beloved Realms, Royalties, Witches, Shadowlands, Landscapes and Creatures, thank you for introducing me to the fantastic story of Kirian!! 👏👏👏

Kirian was the son of Zella and Keryth. Now, King of the Night Realm.
He had inherited two powers and could control the weather and nature.
He met Quinn, a human girl, when they were both 12 y.o., had an amazing connection and became best friends. But as they were growing up, their feelings started going deeper!! 💘
However, Kirian was cursed with blindness and the only way to break this curse was to find his fated mate!!
When Kirian decided to take Quinn to his world, through the portal he used to come to earth, hell broke loose and the adventures commenced!!

Kirian and Quinn’s journey went through scheming and conspiracy, betrayal, battles, sorcery. The fae world was filled with people who had powers and wings, various creatures as witches, trolls, griffins and gnomes.

Their love story was amazing, both characters likeable and engaging, the bond they shared was out of every realm, enthralling!
«From dawn ‘til dusk, from dusk ‘til dawn, I’ll never love another.»

The author’s writing and storytelling had me fully engrossed, I simply couldn’t stop reading!

The one and only issue I had, was with the sex scenes. Their narrative didn’t seem suitable to me according to the book’s world style.

After Kirian and Quinn’s hea, there are two more kings in search of their fated mates. King Damon of the Dream Realm and King Zander of the Day Realm.
King Damon’s story is next!! 🤗 👑 🤗

My Review

This is fantasy romance with the majority of it set in the fae world it’s the story of Kirian and Quinn and If you’ve read the prequel you’ll know that Kirian was cursed with blindness by the witches in retaliation for the day soldiers actions towards them.
All the firstborn of the various kingdoms were afflicted with this fate and each also has a riddle that has the potential to break there curse.

“She is marked by the sky at night, you’ll know her by love at first sight”

This is Kirian’s riddle for finding his fated mate, there is also a stipulation that if he even kisses anyone other than his true mate his blindness will then become permanent.

So this story is actually quite instalove, usually, that might be an issue for me as I’m not big on that but here as we get to see these two form a bond over time, first meeting as children and then growing closer it didn’t actually bother me as they were friends first and then potential lovers second in fact I liked there dynamic together a whole lot.

Quinn’s life is limited she has no friends and is teased a lot because of her freckles she lives quite an isolated and lonely existence.
Kirian due to his disability is used to proving himself he likes that he can just be himself around Quinn and she treats him no different than anyone else.

So Kirian and Quinn first meet at twelve when she fishes him out of the creek they form an instant friendship and every day Quinn meets up with her new mysterious friend and over time he becomes her whole world.

But a day in Quinn’s world is a whole year in Killian’s so while Quinn is slowly ageing the time is passing much faster for Killian.
Each day she meets up with him he’s a whole year older.

At eighteen Quinn decides that she needs to set him free so he can find his fated she’s in love with him and feels she needs to distance herself by this time Killian is actually over 2000 years old and he knows exactly what he wants Quinn, even if that means staying blind forever.
So he kisses her sealing there fate and spirits her back through the portal to his world.

So this is essentially where our story takes off this one isn’t particularly angsty these two love each other deeply and are not afraid to show that both wearing there hearts on there sleeves.
The drama actually comes in the form of outside forces that will do whatever they must to prevent these two from being together.
Someone wants Quinn dead and Kirian is the only thing standing in there way but he also has no idea where this danger is coming from and just who is threatening his new mate's life.

There’s plenty going on here that kept me turning the pages I liked both Kirian and Quinn a lot and found their candour and easy friendship incredibly refreshing.
I also thought they worked as a couple and they’re had a lot of chemistry together.
I found the fae world portrayed here ever so interesting and this was also very imaginative but I did guess beforehand who the betrayer might be.
Saying that it didn’t take away from my enjoyment here one bit and I raced through this fairly swiftly.

This was well written and dual POV which is my favourite and I’m looking forward to reading Damon’s story which is up next, he did intrigue me greatly here so I have some high expectations in regards to his story.
I enjoyed this one very much and do recommend it if you like fantasy romance.
I voluntary reviewed a copy of The Fae king's Curse (Between Dusk and Dawn #1).

Yeah...this wasn’t good. The concept had potential but the plot holes and the weird ages...not my cup of tea.

I was intrigued in the first quarter but after that I wanted to put it down cause I felt no connection to the characters or the story :(
I really wanted to like this but the writing style was...different to what i usually like.

I was going to DNF this but I had to power through to add to my read list. I’m sad to say i will not be continuing this series.

REVIEW: 4 STARS
"She'll be my palace, my fortress, my home."

This one was a bit of a departure for me. Not only was Jamie Schlosser a new to me author, but it was also a completely different genre than I've ever tried. I was dipping my toes rather reluctantly, even though I've been wanting to try the fantasy genre (eventually), I was still a little leery. I'm so glad I finally gave in. I got a message from her to try it, so I wanted to check it out before I went all crazy on my page. Well, rest assured - she opened up a can of worms. But, by no means am I an expert on this trope, or what should be written, or how things are done, but I do know that this one book took me on a magical and fantastical ride and I smiled throughout the entire thing!

The attention to detail was pretty neat. The powers, the wings, the magic - it was neat to learn about a whole new world. I was definitely wide eyed because there was a lot to take in - and I like that it was forcing me to pay attention to all the little nuances and how things slid into other meanings. There was a certain nonchalance in her style of writing and there weren't any tricks up her sleeve. No crazy word usage - just straight forward storytelling. It was a VERY easy read. Very enjoyable.

As I said, I don’t know this trope or genre very well, but this book hit the ground running and we were in immediate action. I started with the prequel, and with that one, the cadence felt a little different - a little stilted. Maybe it was the author - maybe it was the trope, all I knew was it was different . The prequel was a little choppy for me, so I wasn't too sure how I was going to fare with the full length book, especially if this one already felt off for me. Well, I'm happy to report that by the time I got to the full book, I couldn’t stop reading. I was intrigued. Quite curious. Definitely wondering. Not only was Schlosser painting a vivid world, the story held my attention the entire time I was reading it. For me to feel like I was looking at everything for the first time, experiencing new experiences, with my mind tabulating all the newness of my "surroundings" - I loved that I was completely curious and reading with wonder while I was engrossed in this new world.

So while I felt that the prequel almost felt like some things were an afterthought of an ability and not truly a forethought, as in "we knew it before hand so it came in handy at that time," The Fae King's Curse was a whole different ballgame. Huge difference with the full length book, actually. By the time I fell into the fae world, I had adventure flying at me left and right (no pun intended), and wondered soon after how many more books I was going to be getting in this world! I seriously smiled throughout the entire book while reading this one. It was just...fun. It was fun and light, it was easy and entertaining.

But the fact that Schlosser got me so excited about a world I know nothing about, and fairies that I would normally raise an eyebrow at - that tells me something. It was obviously a departure from my normal heavy reads, and maybe this is a good thing, but I loved reading this story. I loved Kirian and how much he ‘felt’ when he was around Quinn. I loved the riddle that I got to solve, yet the curiosity didn't stop there. I loved the possibility of the magic, the wizardry and the love. It really was entertaining and I cannot wait to go back and visit this world again. And, needless to say, I will be keeping a fresh eye open for more books in this genre because it was amusing. It was entertaining. It was just.... neat. I really enjoyed it. I can't wait for more!

"I often found myself reaching for her when we were together. Not for comfort. Just because I wanted to touch her."

3 big ol' 'eh' stars.

The idea and plot were interesting, but I was only half engaged with the flowery writing. This had the same tone of voice as a Disney special; overly cute and a tad obnoxious. The romance between the MC's wasnt bad and had its moments, but the switch from platonic to romantic was so fast it gave me whiplash. So overall, just ok.

3 stars. Love, love, loved the beginning. Then it got kinda,.... weird. Weird in a way where it felt like two different people wrote the book. One the beginning and one middle and end.

It could’ve been great. In the end I did enjoy it because it was a great way to deal with the eventual age gap and how the difference in the passing of time happens between the fae world and the human one.

So yeah. Liked it. Was entertaining. And yes, I’ll be reading the next one.

4 stars. Cute, Low angst, won't be for everyone but I personally like a lower-angst read. This felt like brain bleach. And the hero was just... *chefs kiss* perfect.

Quinn and Kirian met when they were children, and have been best friends for years. However, Kirian is not from Earth. He is from a fantasy land! Kirian is the future king of this land and was cursed as a child. Witches caused him to become blind, and he is not able to get his sight back until he meets his mated mate. Through the years of their friendship, Kirian and Quinn have fallen for each other but have never admitted their feelings. Quinn comes to him one day to tell him that she is moving away. He ends up taking Quinn through a portal to his land, in order to keep the woman he loves. Through their journey, they might realize that they have been mates all along.

If you love book two in the ACOTAR trilogy, you NEED to read this one!!

This was so entertaining y'all! I thought that the concept was amazing, and thought that this book flowed quite nicely. The characters were great and I loved their love story.

I cannot wait to read the rest of the series!!!

TROPES: age-gap, alpha heroes, childhood crush, different social classes, fae, fantasy romance, fated mates, longing, romance books with disability representation (hero is blind), romance with magic, royalty romance, sweet heroes.

Mehhhh. This felt almost like YA to me, and I am not a YA fan. There was almost no steam (no sex till 73% and only one scene) and I could not get over the fact that Quinn was only 18.

This is hard to rate. If I rate based on the genre… 4 - 5 ⭐’s. But If I rate based on my actual enjoyment… 3 ⭐’s. Since this is a complete “Jac thing” I’m going with a 3.5 roundup with the caveat that this is a not for me situation.

The Fae King’s Curse is a well written, YA-ish- bordering on Disney feels, fluffy romance. It’s super-sweet with dedicated, faithful (like the dude stays celibate for over 1000 years) double virgins that are uber in love with each other. This will be perfect for readers who crave the fairytale romance… cuz I can’t stress enough that Kirian is the perfect book boyfriend. It’s totally safe without a trigger in sight. But if you get cavities from sugar, or desire angst/feels/drama, or like some spice in your romance (PG rated sex at 76-ish %)… you’ll probably be bored.

The blurb sets this up, the two meet when they are kids and form an instant connection. Kirian returns to visit her every day, but a day in Quinn’s world is a year in his, so he’s waiting around a lot to see her… and matures much quicker, but don’t worry he’s a total gentleman waiting for Quinn to mature.

Bottom Line- This is a solid fluffy romance with a side of cheese and a hint of cringe. “Holy shit,” she whispers. Taking that as a compliment, I smirk. “That good, huh?” “I knew it was big, but wow. That’s a lot of dick.”
I needed more action/drama and found myself bored at times. I also found certain parts inconsistent… like, At times I felt the author struggled with what she wanted the tone to be. The majority of the book reads like a YA novel, (the h is 18) but she throws some more adult themes in the mix. (rape, violence, attempted murder)

For the most part, I loved this book. However… the setup of Quinn fighting against Kirian’s declared feelings turned me off from pretty much the start. I found it hard to get on board with their happy ending when for so much of this book, Quinn was being silly. You’re in love with the man. He’s already proven that he doesn’t care about the curse because he chose you. Why then hurt him by denying him what you both want?

I wasn’t trying to read a children’s book.

If it weren’t for Kirian and his cousins and all of their awesomeness, I don’t think I would have enjoyed this story as much.

Kudos to the author for writing in this subgenre and allowing me to enjoy the world created. Will I read the next book? Ummm yeah because I really need to see Damon get some!

I had to do some serious skimming to get this one finished. The book started off really strong, and I loved the first interaction between the MCs, but I just lost interest really quickly.

This one didn't hold that well on its own as a fantasy for me -the use of modern dialogue in the fae world, mixed in with a lot of inconsistencies and unresolved plotlines, didn't add up to a good fantasy.

I didn't really enjoy the romance either 💀- apart from the beginning of the book, there really wasn't that much chemistry between the two. I really wanted to like this one, but it wasn't for me.

5 ‘ I Choose You’ Stars

Aaaawww… The Fae King’s Curse has completely blown my mind! The perfect communion of the most enthralling of fantasy reads with the most passionate and perfect of romances! One of my top reads of, not only the year, but EVER!!!

First of all, I’ve got to point out I’d never in a million years know by the exquisite writing that this was Ms. Schlossers’ first venture into PNR/Fantasy, because, as an avid reader of the genre, I can honestly say TFKC was masterfully executed.

“Why?” I demand, panting. “Why would you do that?”
Gripping my shoulders, he leans down until we’re nose to nose. “Because I can live without my sight, but I cannot live without you.”

“You,” she whispers the answer. “You know I’ll always choose you.”

Quinn and Kirian first meet when they are twelve years old, and since them they have been basically inseparable. Well, as inseparable and two beings from different realms can be, lol. They have been each others friends, confidents, and slowly, day by day, with each daily visit via portal by Kirian, they not only grew together – well, Kirian faster as one day on human realm equals to one year in the Fae realm – but each day their relationship blossomed more and more, until their love could no longer be denied. There was just one problem. Or should I say, the bigger problem, that Kirian, now the Night Realm’s King was cursed, and just one kiss from Quinn could forever keep him blind…

“I hope to own your beautiful heart, your sweet lips, your perfect face, your soft hair, and your body.”

“I’m sorry,” she says between kisses. “I’m so sorry. So sorry.”
“Stop apologizing.”
“I can’t.” Kiss. “I’ve doomed you.” Kiss. Kiss.

Omg, how these two stole my heart! Their slow building love, their connection, their devotion… Sigh… These two are what romance reads are all about: deep characters completely and utterly IN LOVE with one another! The way that Kirian took care and cherished her, even knowing what was at stake, it was EVERYTHING! And Quinn, poor Quinn, how she lobed Kirian, her suffering for believing she was not the right person for him. Gah… These were just so PERFECTLY written, I would not change one single thing about these two! Now one of my fav OTP!!!

Quinn is everything to me. I’ll choose her. Always.

And I’ve never loved her more than I do right now. She’s my best friend, my partner, my everything.

Everywhere I go, I see him in everything around me. Because it’s not the location—he’s embedded so far into my soul, I know he’ll never leave.

Jamie Schlosser truly created a brilliant Fantasy Romance in The Fae King’s Curse. Not only was its universe beautifully crafted, so rich and complex, but so easily enrapturing, that completely transported us there right along with Kirian and Quinn. Every detail was magnificently described I felt THERE, seeing, smelling and feeling what they were feeling. Part of that experience was due too, to the extremely well written secondary characters, in every little appearance we could feel the care it was taken into account in that character, because we could not only ‘see’ them but ‘feel’ them. This book indeed was a masterful written fantasy romance of the highs quality I’ve ever had the pleasure to devour, and addictive to the point I’m begging the author will give us Damon’s story as soon as possible. One perfect HEA was not enough, I need all these three cousin’s curse, aka, books NOW!!! <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

“I told you you’re mine.”
“I think our hearts knew it the whole time.”

I’ve always been his, and he’s mine.

Sometimes I get to read a beautiful fairytale love story, one where I get to fall in love, chapter by chapter, line by line, word by word, this one happened to start at 12 years old. So beautiful, it made my heart ache with all the sweet feels. There is not enough stars for this book, so I’ll give it infinity stars...I know, right. Jamie Schlosser creates a fantasy world….I want to go and go I did. This book was everything, these two were everything. I have been done with this book for quite a few days, but I wasn’t sure how to put my book love into words, and I know that my review cannot possibly do this book justice. Truly one of my favorite books...ever. I loved it that much, I actually debated on whether to read it again right after, see, that good.

These two meet when they’re 12, Quinn saves Kirian, starting a beautifully epic love story. After their first meeting, Kirian comes back everyday to spend time with Quinn. One day in our world, is one year in his. Ok, so the math on this puts him at over 2000 years old by the time she turns 18...to say he was an older man...pfft...is an understatement. Anyway, he comes back yearly to see her, which will make you swoon, he even says, “There’s nowhere else I’d rather go,”. He gets one portal a year for his birthday, to travel through, and he uses it to see her, every year. I know, I know...these two...all the dang sweet feels. Despite his curse, he wants her to marry him and be his, when she turns 18, he takes her back to his world and this is where their journey truly begins.

This was a safe read. With 2 virgin fated mates that will have you falling in love too. These two had my heart and they were definitely the definition of relationship goals. Beautiful and sexy times. Every emotion you can feel, I laughed, I loved, I cried...every single emotion, this book had it all. Great storyline, fairies, realms, portals, witches, magic, gnomes...oh, I adored the gnomes, with light humor and of course a bad guy...because it wouldn’t be right without one. An great epilogue and hea. Uh...next book please...hopefully there will be a next book????

This is the first book in the Between Dusk and Dawn series. I read the second book before I read this one. I'm not sure how that happened but I enjoyed the second book way more than this one. I would say Schlosser fine tuned the world and her characters by the second book. This story was about Kirian and Quinn.

We first meet Kirian as a young boy. He goes through a portal to the Earth realm every year and ends up meeting Quinn when she thinks he is drowning. Quinn and Kirian strike up a relationship quickly and he comes back every year to her. However, a year in his world is only a day in her world. Kirian tells Quinn of his blindness and how only his fated mate can rid him of it. He tells her of his kingdom and its beauty. Over the years Quinn falls desperately in love with him but knows she can never have him. Finally, one day she decides it will hurt too much to never have him so she tries to set him free. Kirian has other plans and ends up taking her to his world, fated mate or not. Once they're there, someone tries to take Quinn out and we spend most of the book dealing with that and realm business.

My first problem with this story is that their relationship went from platonic to romantic in 2.5 seconds and so I couldn't connect to them as a couple. My second problem was he never recognized her as his fated mate! She had to tell HIM! And then he was like heyo that's great! Let's have sex now. I don't know...I found their relationship lacking. But Schlosser writes steam real well. My third problem was with Quinn and her constant self bashing. I get it, people have insecurities but I really only want to read about it a few times. My last problem with this story was that it read very cheesy sometimes.

I know what you're thinking...well did you like it then? Yes, I did. Despite its flaws I appreciate this author taking the time to create a fantasy world like this. It's not an easy task and I do expect these books to get better as she writes them. Schlosser has a unique writing style and sense of humor that I'm starting to recognize and I applaud her for it. I will 100% read the rest of the series.

Hands down my favorite thing written by this author and that’s saying a lot since I adore her other books! An entirely captivating world built with relatable characters, I was hard pressed to put it down! Beautifully written in terms of how perceived disabilities/differences are handled and how they affect the overall character development. My only regret, although this is a complete standalone, is that I have to wait for the next in the series...I don’t want to wait! It’s so good! I’m entranced and captivated. Easily one of my top 5 books of the year!

Really liked it! This story is quite unique and I just loved how Kirian and Quinn met when they were kids and practically grew up together. They had a beautiful friendship that turned into undying love. They are true soulmates. Love them so much!

Jamie Schlosser knocked this fae romance out of the park!

I absolutely adored this charming story with characters who captured my heart. A handsome fae king cursed by a spell, and a uniquely beautiful heroine whom he chooses to be his mate.

As I read the words, I was there. I swear I was. The superb storytelling of this author transported me to another place and time. To a world so vivid and colorful and oh so amazing. Everything was described perfectly with fascinating detail. I felt as if I was on the sidelines, feeling the heat from the fires, viewing the bright stars in the skies of the Night Realm, feeling the breeze from the flap of every wing.

The author weaves an enchanting story of magical lands with star dust and fae kings and magical spells and trolls and dark & eerie Shadowlands and adorable gnomes. Yes, gnomes! I want ALL the gnome hugs.

Kirian and Quinn met when they were 12 years old. He traveled through a portal once a year to the human realm. Even at their young age their chemistry was strong. I loved watching them bond over the years, feeling their love grow.

Once they got to Kirian’s world, the adventure began. There was magic and witches and suspense and love and passion and betrayal and loyalty...and more sexy fae kings.

I loved EVERYTHING about this book. I couldn’t love it any more if I tried. And I cannot wait for the other stories in this series!! The supporting characters were equally amazing. I’m just going to go ahead and claim Damon as MINE right now.

⭐️1.4⭐️ IMO this one was pretty bad, but to it’s credit I skimmed to the end rather than DNF. For starters the plot was pretty disjointed and underdeveloped. But my main problem was how juvenile the characters and dialogue were. Truly eye roll worthy most of the time. The author was unable to capture the “voices” of any of the characters. The 12 year old characters sounded like middle aged adults and the 2,000 year old Fae King had the personality of a petulant teenager. Just a mess.

The Fae King’s Curse by Jamie Schlosser

5*

I know Jamie wrote a prequel for this story but I don’t think we truly got the full comprehensive look at just how talented this writer is, especially when it comes to switching over from her usual quirky contemporary romance stories to an action-packed, supremely imaginative and butterfly-inducing epic fantasy love story. It’s a testament to how talented authors actually are when they are able to cross genres and not only that, but do it with passion, creativity, flair and aplomb. That is precisely what author Jamie Schlosser had accomplished here.

Right from the very start of The Fae King's Curse we are reeled in instantaneously. I loved that time moved at different speeds in the two separate realms. I loved that Kirian was brave, arrogant and oh-so-very royal, just as I loved Quinn in her innocence, her heartbreaking solitude and her infinite courage. I loved how both hero and heroine met in those meadows year after year, forming an unbreakable bond of friendship. To be honest there really wasn't much about this book that I didn't love. It was spectacular.

I admired that it also wasn’t a case of instant love for these two, it was a beautiful magical connection. A melding of the human world to that of the fae, of the mystical and powerful, the dangerous and intriguing, more importantly it was a meeting of two souls, learning to trust one another, to cherish stolen moments and recognise that they have something beautiful together. Something that was forged over years.

‘Gripping my shoulders, he leans down until we’re nose to nose. “Because I can live without my sight, but I cannot live without you.”

Oh, those words. Those beautiful, wonderful, perfect words. I want to ask him to say it again. I want to beg for another kiss.’

Jamie finds a really terrific balance between all of the fantasy elements and the romance side of things. The immaculate world building, sterling characterizations, the engaging side players, the good, bad and naughty in-between characters, they all combine into a truly exciting, addictive, whirl-wind fantasy adventure. And mixed in through all of the royal games, enemies, angst and drama, is this immensely powerful, sweep-you-off-your-feet love story between Kirian and Quinn. You never for one moment doubt that these two belong together.

Jamie’s writing is exquisite throughout this book. Her dialogue is equal parts passionate and stirring, as well as funny and entertaining. She can bring forth action scenes remarkably well, with a few perfectly scripted lines, as well as add the passion and heat that whips up between hero and heroine. There is never a dull moment or lull in the entirety of the story and to me The Fae King’s Curse was nothing short of utterly perfect. It ticked all of my boxes. I’m desperately excited to devour the next instalment of these kinds of books.

Author, Jamie Schlosser's THE FAE KING'S CURSE is an addictive beginning to what I'm guessing must be one heck of a series!

- Fated Mates.
- Fluffy romance in an enthralling world.
- FMC and MC I love!
- Side characters who keep the book engaging from start to finish.
- Sweet, sweet, sweet! ✨

Quinn is a female lead you can not help but like. She doesn't fit the bill for a naive character but neither is she a snarky minx.

But the author somehow manages to make a normal & rational Quinn the "it" character who gives life to the story. She's always there for Kirian and hell yeah! Kirian is always glued to his Quinn at the hips. (Alpha Male alert!)

Everything about this novel is perfect to me. ´꒳`

Five fairydust coated stars!
Fantasy romance heavy on sugar and spice and everything nice! I've never read fantasy romance with such a comedic twist (in the best sense of the word). I was snickering and laughing throughout the entire book, including a happy sigh at the end. The Fae King's Curse felt like a trip into Fairyland...and for someone who grew up on Enid Blyton's stories (think The Faraway Tree), it definitely strikes a reminiscent chord. If you want a fun, lighthearted fantasy read filled with sugary sweetness and some serious steam along the way, pick this one up. Pure escapism!

This one didn't work so well for me as the prequel.
When the Hero and heroine meet they are 12 or 13 but in his world a year is equal to a day on earth do each time he returns he is obviously a year older and she a day.
Nothing happens til she's of age but I just wasn't keen, him returning as a man and her still a teen-ager.
He doesn't act or recognise her as his fated mate til much later but it just made me uncomfortable.
Both the Hero and heroine are virgins.
No intimate scenes other than the Hero and heroine.
HEA.

I loved the start of the book ! The friendship between Kirian and Quinn was really sweat. But then the story took a weird turn and I didn't care about the characters anymore. Also, it's almost a copy of ACOTAR. Kirian, the king of the night realm, a fae with wings, centuries old, takes by force the human. Rings a bell ? Oh, and the realm's name is Valora. Quite close to Velaris. I get that you can be inspired by a book you love, but this is a lot of coincidences.

Aside from that, the story was original. But the writing wasn't the greatest. So yeah, I have mixed feelings about this one.

4.5 Stars - Fantasy Romance

I enjoyed this book so much!! I thought seeing the two main character as friends first and then grow into lovers was so perfect. I love Kirian so much and I love that Quinn accepts him for everything he is.

This was such a sweet fantasy romance where both characters are fighting against everyone else.
