Devious Little Liars

“Everybody lies, Princess. Some of us are just better at not getting caught.”

He murdered my uncle then covered it with fire. A fire that should have killed me, too. Instead, he hauled me from the floor while flames licked the walls, strong arms holding me close.

He saved my life.

Now I want to know why. I never saw his face. All I know is the letters on his shirt. SVH.

Saint View High.

The worst school in a hundred miles. Full of drugs and despair. Breeding ground for future criminals. Armed security guards and weapon checks at every door.

A far cry from my privileged life of money, private school, and fancy vacations.

With the police doing nothing, I take matters into my own hands. I enroll in a school I have no business being at.

But the Untouchables are quick to let me know exactly how big a mistake I’ve made. They’re the group of boys even the teachers are scared of.

Colt. Banjo. Rafe.

Every teenage girl’s dream. Good looking. Popular. Powerful.

And determined to break me.

Thing is, I’m not that easily broken. And I’m coming for them, too.

Devious Little Liars is the story of three bad boys and a girl who knows how to stand her ground. It is a mature high school/new adult, reverse harem, #whychoose romance, meaning the main character has more than one love interest. This book contains enemies-to-lovers and bullying themes. It is the first book in an ongoing trilogy.

Devious Little Liars is the first book in the new Saint View High series by Elle Thorpe. This is my first book by this author and certainly won't be the last. Told in multiple perspectives, this bully RH book was packed with all the suspense and angsty goodness that my little heart desires. Get ready to meet Lacey, Banjo, Rafe & Colt.

Here were are introduced to Lacey who is mourning the loss of her uncle. He was murdered, and the killer then tried to cover it up with a fire. A fire that would have killed her too except for some reason the killer carried her out of there ultimately saving her life. She never saw his face, only the letters on his shirt, SVH. She soon finds out that those letters stand for Saints View High. A school from the wrong side of the tracks. One that's a far cry from her privileged life in private school.

In order to get down to the bottom of her uncle's death, she persuades her aunt to enroll her there. Once there, she meets the Untouchables. Three sexy, popular and powerful boys who rule the school. They are quick to point out that she doesn't belong there and very determined to get her gone. But what they don't know is she is not one to cower down. She is strong and can play these games with the best of them.

This book was a pleasant surprise. One that I couldn't peel my eyes from. It hooked me from the very start and never once let me go. This gripping story is centered around murder and mayhem, sadness and grief, lies and deceit with a heart stopping ending that left me begging for more. 5 stars and so many more for Lacey, Banjo, Rafe, Colt and Devious Little Liars!

ALL MY REVIEWS CAN BE FOUND ON MY BLOG: ABSTRACT BOOKS

Devious Little Liars is the first book of the Saint view High series by Ella Thorpe. Told in dual perspectives , this was dark bully RH book for all the twisted minds out there!!

This was my first book by this author and I absolutely loved the hell out of it!! I am on my way to stalk her other books , because she clearly deserves a lot of appreciation. Bully Romances are my dose of addiction and of you add Reverse Harem to the mix , then let's just say it becomes one super hot bangin show for me!!!

Here we meet Lacey , who has recently transferred to the Saint high school. She may appear an innocent student from the outside, but she has her own hidden agendas. She needs to track down her uncle's killer and there is only one clue she has for that. The night her uncle was killed , her uncle's killer saved her. The only thing she saw that night was the logo of Saint High on his clothes. So here she is , to track down that killer and to avenge her uncle's death.

When she enters the school , she has the fortune or should I say misfortune of meeting the Untouchables. The untouchables are a group of messy rugged hot boys that can sweep you off your feet. However they all are also huge bullies and seem to have been involved in stuff that is no child's play. They are namely Colt , Banjo and Rafe. All of them have different personalities but are somehow perfectly fit with each other.

In her search to find the killer , Lacey delves deeper and deeper into the Untouchables , since they are the ones handling all that stuff of the school. The more she gets tangled , the more she realises that there is more to these boys. They all have their own depth and aims.

She somehow thinks that they will lead her to her uncle's killer. What she doesn't know is that the boys have games of their own to play. They know much more than they are letting on and by the time they are done , there will be nothing left of Lacey.

This story sucked me in right from the start and had me questioning my morals throughout the book. Ella Thorpe has done an amazing job with this RH Bully romance theme and has given yet another great book to add to my bully shelf!!

This book is recommended to all the dark Romance lovers who are addicted to themes like Reverse Harem , mystery , erotic romance and suspense!

BOOK friends, I’m mad at you. Why didn’t anyone get me reading Elle Thorpe sooner?! Because HOLY CRAP- this book was amazing. Can’t stop reading, call in sick to work, obsessing over every little detail, book hangover and want to immediately re-read AMAZING. Elle brings us an interesting and complex storyline but she also infuses it with so much interesting characterization and character connection- I was RIVETED and read this is one sitting.

Devious Little Liars sets the tone and pace for this novel straight from the start- we’re immediately thrust into a suspenseful, intriguing, and heartbreaking opening act that sets our heroine Lacey’s world on fire- and not just figuratively. An unexpected fire kills her guardian/uncle and almost kills Lacey- if not for some mysterious man wearing Saints View High football shirt pulling her from the blaze. She never sees his face, and the police are dubious of her story with limited supporting evidence- but they do know one thing, her uncle was already dead from a stab wound when the fire started. Wrecked with grief, she’s determined to do right by her uncle and look for clues as to who killed him and/or who saved her- and the only place to start? The school on her rescuer’s shirt. The public school on a different side of town- a totally different world from Lacey’s privileged reality, a world where she has no allies and no friends. But she quickly captures the attention of three of the Untouchables- the boys of SVH that rule the school. Colt, Rafe, and Banjo- each with their own quirks and their own interests in her, but all equally sexy and captivating. They are mostly cold and unwelcoming at first- determined to make her leave. Why? Lacey isn’t sure- but as their paths cross, some of the Untouchables start to open up and embrace her.. What unfolds is a story full of so much heart and heat, jam packed with suspense and interesting characters and so much mystery.

This harem is EVERYTHING. Elle really captures what I love most about reverse harem books- the intimate exploration of chemistry. Yes, seems odd that a genre about multiple love interests is, to me, really a celebration of romantic chemistry- but that is what makes RH work- the embracing of multiple, meaningful connections to another. And Elle NAILS the chemistry- the delicate RH art of both creating group chemistry and identity and then the intricate act of weaving each individual together, too. Since this is book 1, the Harem isn’t yet fully in play- but we see the start with Lacey beginning relationships with multiple boys and even some SCORCHING menage action. Elle really focuses on the emotional connections first, though- beautifully so. All of the characters are so well developed and complex- with character dimension and depth to unpack, and she brilliantly finds several sweet, tender moments to bring Lacey together with Banjo and Rafe- scripting smart dialogue and catalyzing emotive moments that solidify an intimate and natural connection. The relationships evolve organically- thus at different paces, which feels more authentic and also lets each pairing shine. I was swept away by these boys- especially Banjo.

And Lacey is incredibly likable and relatable. Despite her privilege she’s so open and compassionate- she’s patient, kind and forgiving, and surprisingly grounded despite her upbringing and recent tragedy. She has a vulnerability and emotive quality to her character, but she’s also strong and determined- the kind of heroine you root for. I felt for her SO much.

The pacing here is pure perfection- a just right balance of action, mystery elements, and intimate (both emotional and physical) moments of character connection woven together for a heart pounding journey. There are plot twists and shocking moments galore, some lighter bullying, and we have some AMAZINGLY written steamy scenes (the kind that zing electricity through you. What I love most about the narrative construction, though, are the twin parallels, the juxtaposition of how Lacey is trying to crack a mystery as she also starts to crack what makes these boys tick- and how those two elements influence one another and alter Lacey’s path makes for some very interesting dynamics and a captivating character journey.

This was truly some incredible storytelling and character work- I LOVED every word of this and could not put it down, and now I’m anxiously awaiting book 2 and stalking Elle’s back catalog. And that cliffhanger ending? My jaw and stomach are still on the floor. The way my heart broke only speaks to the wonderful writing that invested me so greatly in these characters. Can’t wait for more! PICK THIS BOOK UP NOW- you’ll love it!

Heroine is willing to lose her virginity to a bartender on the day of her uncle’s funeral - the uncle who she thought of as a father since she was 5 years old.

Heroine is a orphan but grew up as a rich girl because of her uncle and aunt.

I did not care for the heroine. Situations seemed forced.
Good luck. Not for me.

DNF, but you may love. Reading is subjective.

”Everybody lies, princess. Some of us are just better at not getting caught.”

This is my first book by Elle Thorpe but definitely not my last.

Meet the Untouchables. They guys from the wrong side of the tracks that are clearly caught up in stuff that they aren’t meant to be. Lacey transfers to Saint View High to track down her uncle’s killer. All she has to go on is the letters SVH that she saw on her rescuers shirt.

As Lacey delves deeper into a world she’s not familiar with she falls deeper for each boy. Colt, Banjo and Rafe. Each boy completely different but complementing each other in the best ways possible.

I was completely drawn into this story from the first page and couldn’t put it down. Each page had me on edge suspecting somebody different and just as I thought that I had figured out the mystery Elle Thorpe came in and threw a curve ball leaving me completely clueless again.

If you love RH, high school bully books that keep you guessing then check out Devious Little Liars.

Holy moly. This was unexpected… in a good way.

It was a dark, gritty, suspenseful romance with the perfect whodunnit moments that had me on the edge of my seat. Like holy shit, why haven't I heard of Ella Thrope before?!

It blows me away that I have finally finally found a bully romance that I actually like despite the *gag* reverse harem trope. Besides that, this story sucked me in and for the reasons listed above, obviously I would highly recommend this to all dark romance readers. You'll be in for a wild ride.

This book OMG!!!! I have been reading Elle's work sine her debut release but Devious Little Liars is going in a whole new direction to her previous novels. It's a bully romance at it's core with some suspense, mystery and menage action in this book (although the series is set to be reverse harem).

Right at the start we are thrown into the plot of the book with the heroine Lacey determined to discover who rescued her from the fire that was used to cover up her Uncle's murder. She can only remember one detail, that the guy was wearing a shirt from Saint View High's Football Team. A local school from the opposite side of town, where the rich kids never go. So what does Lacey do?, well she enrolls herself into the school to find out who saved her life the night of the fire.

The male counterparts in the story are Rafe, Banjo and Colt 3 of the 'Untouchables' of Saint View High. Colt and his girlfriend Gillian are the bully protagonists in the story and boy do they try to run Lacey out of school; but I was pleased to see that Lacey does not back down so easy. Colt is definitely the Alpha male, moody and brooding are his key traits and he is prepared to push Lacey to her limits, but why? They have a connection, a draw to one another but this is not unique to them. The chemistry between Banjo and Lacey was electric I loved these two together, the ease of their friendship and Banjo's caring and light hearted nature is a contrast to the feel of the book. Add Rafe to the mix and OMG things get hot as hell.

If you are a fan of bully romance and love some plot twists and suspense to your books, then you do not want to miss this book! It is well paced, has a complex, multilayered plot with well developed characters that make me want to know more. The interactions between the cast beyond the heroine are great to read and Elle's writing is at her best here. I am obsessed with this world, I want the next book as soon as possible! I could not put it down and that ending!!!!! My jaw actually hit the floor with what went down, I want to shove this book in everyone's face and tell them to read it, it was just that damn good!

It’s been a long time since I last read a high school bully romance, and that definitely helped with my level of enjoyment with this one lol

There were some cringe and rage inducing moments, but overall this was a fast, easy read. And the mystery kept me interested enough to want to read as fast as possible.

Of course my favorite was the meanest of them all lol but in my defense I’ll say, I really liked how the mystery linked back to him. I just want to know wtf is going on.

As a warning, there’s some OW drama. The mean guy has a gf but nothing remotely romantic happens between him and the main protagonist anyway. Of course his gf is your classic Mean Girl. And that’s one of the two reasons why I’m lowering this rating.

The other reason and let this serve as your TW, there’s an on page assault towards the end of the book. Another guy tried to rape the main protagonist in the most brutal way possible. He gave her a black eye, bruised ribs and more. It made me feel sick and the book ends right in the middle of the scene, so you don’t even know what happened to her…

And even though that scene was too graphic and left me feeling sick, there’s a scene before that made me feel even worse. The same guy drugged her drink at a party and brought her home. We know he touched her inappropriately while she laid in her bed but then she lost consciousness and we don’t know how far he went. And that’s never explained. Just the anxiety of not knowing, the hopelessness while reading the scene… god, it was awful for me.

But the romance with the other two guys in the harem was really sweet and I liked their personalities a lot.

Onto the next.

I picked this up randomly after seeing nothing about it and I liked it more than I thought I would. Nothing too original but executed in a way I enjoyed. I definitely had some issues but I generally liked the characters and how they interacted. There really isn’t too much bullying in this because it really just comes from one of the guys so don’t expect to much of that. I really liked the POV chapters from the guys. I always want insight into their thinking in an RH book but I don’t usually get it because a lot of them aren’t multi POV so I’m glad we at least got a taste here. This is set in high school, which I like less and less as a romance setting as a get further away from high school. They’re also 17 years old for most of the book, including for the sex scenes so if that is an issue for you don’t read this book. I didn’t love it and really would have preferred a college setting but it wasn’t a deal breaker for me personally. I’ll definitely be continuing on with this series soon.

There’s not much I can say for this book other than the fact that I hate it. The misunderstanding trope is heavily prevalent and it grinds my fucking gears like nothing else. Please for fucks sake get a new plot point.

Her getting attacked over and over again, perpetuated by the same person and Lacey suspecting some of the few people who actually care about her and not the bitch who fucking regularly tries to intimidate her??? Fucking annoying.

Also, the unnecessary level of smut in a book about minors that is deeply descriptive is so fucking weird. It will never not be weird to write about underage people having sex when you as an author are a grown fucking woman. Please get a hobby.

Not to mention ending on a sexual assault scene where she’s having a supposed internal girlboss monologue of what she’ll do when it’s over... get out. Leave. Absolutely not.

This book will take you on a roller coaster ride of emotions. High school at it's meanest. After her private school for girls is closed due to a fire that her uncle/the principal dies in, Lacey chooses to go to a nearby public school instead of the private boys school the rest of her school will be attending. Her motive, find the boy who rescued her from the fire, and most likely started the fire.

She quickly realizes public school is nothing like private school. Her clothes.....wrong. Her car.....too expensive. Not to mention getting on the wrong side of the cheerleader and her boyfriend....otherwise known as king and queen of the school.

It's not all bad though. She makes an awesome best friend in Jagger. The boys at the school are crazy hot. Banjo, Rafe are both interested in her, she likes them both too.

What secrets are hiding though? Colt seems to know something Lacey doesn't, or he thinks he does. He has an instant dislike for her. There might be some attraction there too though.

"What scared me was the fact I wasn't scared at all. What scared me, was the fact his words did nothing bu turn me on."

This book has characters you will love. Characters you will hate. Some that you want to hate, but also want to love, and will just have to follow the story to see which way it will go. It is a book you will not want to put down.

The only downfall.....

Seriously though, book 2 can not get here soon enough.

Devious Little Liars is book one in the Saint View High series. This is my first Elle Thorpe book and it definitely won't be my last. The twists and turns that Elle puts in this book kept me turning the pages.

After the disappearance of her, parents Lacey moves in with her aunt and uncle. Years later and her uncle passes away under suspicious circumstances. Concerned with the lack of initiative taken by the police investigating into the events surrounding her uncle's death Lacey decides to take matters into her own hands.

After getting a lead on the case, Lacey switches school to Saint View High to investigate further. However, what she finds is far from what she was expecting.

Audio Review:
Saint View High #1 is a mature high school/new adult, reverse harem, #whychooseromance. This trilogy features enemies to lovers romance and bullying themes. This first audio is fast paced and keeps you intrigued till the very end. I'm so ready for audio two. Intricately intertwined with a murder mystery. A good start to this trilogy.

Dual narration performance Kasi Hollowell and Michael Gallagher brings out the characters and their story to reality. This is told in mostly Lacey's pov so Kasi does most of the audio. Kasi's inflection is poignant and age appropriate.

Did I love this book? No...Did I like this book? Yes..

Lacey's world is turned upside down when her uncle, the only father type figure she had ever had, dies in a fire at her school. Lacey somehow survived the fire when a mystery man pulls her out of it, saving her. When the police tell her that her they believe her uncle was murdered, Lacey decides to go to a high school in the shady area of town, Saint View High, where she hopes to get answers. The only thing she can remember about the man that saved her is that he was wearing a Saint View High football shirt. When she arrives it's immediately clear that she is not welcome there and that there are people who will do anything to get her to leave.

Now overall I liked Lacey's character. She's gone through a lot of shitty stuff in her life and is a strong independent person. But my god does she make some dumb decisions. Getting involved with two different guys who are friends with the guy that obviously wants you gone is just a move that no sane person would make.

I didn't hate the two guys Lacey begins to fool around with, Rafe and Banjo (yes that is actually his name), but I really liked Colt. He's got that whole emo, dark side vibe happening and I'm here for it. I have found myself rooting for him even though he clearly has no interest in Lacey through most the book.

The book is written in mulitple character POV's and there is tough subjects so check TW before reading.

I have mixed feeling about this book. Like I kinda enjoyed it. The whole solving the mystery of who killed her uncle and who saved her is what hooked me. I have 2 suspicions. Either Colt was the one who saved her and he's hurt that she doesn't remember, or that her uncle really is all those bad things that were written on his picture and Colt saved Lacey. Something like that. Maybe her uncle hurt his family. Anyhow this story also annoyed the hell out of me. I really hate books where HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS are supposedly Gods and every adult fears them. Like really? They are children who don't know what consequences are? And don't get me started on character where there is that one mean girl who insists on ruining the FMC life just because a boy doesn't want her. Like babe, be hurt but don't be a bitch. Men really ain't worth all of that, especially when he is treating you like shit too. Also, what the fuck is up with these children always posting child porn? Like you're releasing someone's sex tap. That's illegal. And Hella disgusting. Grow the fuck up. Me and everyone I know what that age would never do something so stupid and heartless. I get its fiction but it's still annoying as hell. I don't even care that it's smut with teen characters. I'm in the age group and the sex isn't that unrealistic but everything else? I feel like these children just needs common sense knocked into them.

Oh. My. God!! This book was wild!

I’ve been jumping into books without reading blurbs/reviews lately & I’m so happy I did that with this one! The reverse harem trope was a great surprise! I’ve come to really enjoy reading that trope.

Some of these scenes are SO FREAKING HOT!!! Like beyond & I was looking forward to so much more but than that ending came out of nowhere! There are so so many secrets & I NEED the next book immediately because I need to know what happens next. There’s so much left unknown! I’m rambling because there’s just so much & it was just so amazingly good!

Basically you need to read this! If you like reverse harem, hot hot scenes, secrets upon secrets & a little bit of murder than you will love this book!

P.s. I hate Colton & I never trusted him for a second, I’ve got my suspicions...

I received an arc of this book in return for an honest review.

Elle Thorpe is a very talented writer, so it's no big surprise how well-written this book is.
What might surprise you is her change of genre. Having written some great contemporary romance, she now ventured into the realms of darker, more suspenseful, and dirtier romance with the start of this bully- and reverse-harem-themed series. And again she did a great job!
Now I'm dying for the next book because, fair warning, this cliff-hanger ending leaves you breathless.
Thumbs up, Elle Thorpe, keep it coming!

Do you ever finish a book and then sit there and contemplate reading it all over again because it was honestly that good!? Well then you’re obviously not reading the right books!

This book had me devouring it in one sitting and not wanting to do anything but find out what happens. It follows Lacey, who after surviving a fire that covered up the murder of her uncle wants to find the person who saved her from the fire and her only clue is the letters on his shirt - SVH which stands for Saint View High

When Lacey discovers what the letters mean she goes to that school to uncover the truth and find out what happened to her uncle. Lacey didn’t think she would along the way meet 3 guys - Colt, Rafe & Banjo, all mysterious guys with whom she would end up being distracted by and potentially throwing a spanner in the work for her little plan.

This book was such a page turner that you wanted to devour it but then once you got to the end you were screaming because you’re like no, it can’t end like that, Elle, what have you done!?

I must admit that this book is now one of my favourites! It had everything I would want in a story, drama, passion, hot guys, romance and of course the suspense! I love a good book with suspense that has you wanting to flip those pages until you find out what happens but then not want the book to end because it’s just that amazing! I can’t wait for the next books in this series and I have a feeling they are going to wreck me just as much as this book has

I highly recommend this book! It’s a 5 star read for me and definitely one i’ll be buying a physical copy of!

Wow! What a wild ride! Full of lies, mystery, suspense, steam, and did I mention, lies? Lacey is in an unfamiliar world and doesn't know who to trust. Will she solve her uncle's murder? Will she fall victim to the school bullies, or will she stand up to them with gumption? I can't wait for the next book! I need to know what happens next!
