Welcome to Angel Academy. The only way to be accepted is to die.

My name is Kaitlyn Lightson, and I can see ghosts.
Despite my weird ability, that no one but my best friend knows about, my life is pretty normal. In a few months, I will be at university and far away from my small ghost town I've lived my whole life in.
But one deadly car accident changed everything.

Death was not the end for me, because instead, I became an angel. Guardian Angel to be exact and my only job is to protect important humans in dire need to pay back the debt of our second life.
Only if I can survive Angel Academy that is.

Turns out Angel Academy is deadlier than any school I've been to before...

I have to choose a side, light or dark, at the end of my first year.
Light angels are good, kind and the choice my best friend is sure to take.
Dark angels are evil, seductive and they call me to me more than I want to admit.

Seduction is a game in this world, and dark angels know how to play it better than most.
And I want to play.

17+ RH bully Academy Romance.

description

This book needed more work and editing done before it was published. Unfortunately, what I read felt like a first draft instead of a finished product and I'm sorry but that's not enough for me.

While the beginning hooked me and it had some goods ideas, everything about this book felt way too rushed. The plot jumped around, nothing made sense and it frustrated me so much especially since I could see the potential behind the sloppy execution. The relationships (if we can call it that) with the guys that might end up in her harem didn't work either. Her first kiss came out of nowhere and because of that, it didn't make me feel anything.

One of the things I hated the most was the direction the author chose to go with Riley, our main character's best friend who clearly had feelings for her even though they always said they didn't see each other that way because they grew up together. The tension was there and all of a sudden, Riley changed personality. He became violent and horrible and I just didn't recognize the character we saw before that. They were inseparable for I don't know how many years and just like that, he turns into someone else ? No way. I didn't believe it and I was mad.

Honestly, I don't know if I should give more chances to G. Bailey. I've tried it before but her writing just isn't good enough (in my opinion). I don't know if I'm going to read the next book. I am curious but is curiosity enough? I guess we'll see.

Okay, now I'm hooked and I need to dive into the second book.

Descend will introduce you to Kaitlyn and Riley. They have been best friends for like ever and they know each other's secrets. Especially the one where Kaitlyn can see ghosts. Unfortunately for me, they end up dying in a car accident. Luckily for them, they are now angels attending a whole new school: Angel Academy.

So long high school life.. now it's time for them to get a Pegasus and wings. Let's go!

Throughout this book, they attend two classes per day and get to study over the weekend. Along the way, they get to learn about light and dark angels since they get to decide what they want to be at the end of the year. Long story short, it doesn't really matter if you are a light or dark angel - you can still be a douche canoe.

At the beginning, I liked Riley but then that likeness went downhill so quickly after he became an angel. He became a jealous jerk that just rubbed me the wrong way. Then we get to meet Kaitlyn's potential RH mates.. and I'm still not one hundred percent sure how I feel about them. Everyone seems to have secrets and I'm not learning that much about anyone.

Then there's that damn cliffhanger ending. I'm not really sure how I'm supposed to feel. For one, I'm pissed because Riley basically forced her into being an angel she didn't want to be. Second, Ren is alive.. but he's the vampire king? Yeah, I'm a little confused and have a ton of questions. Three, I'm just annoyed with how it ended.

I'm wondering if she can still somehow become a dark angel? Or maybe the fire didn't do anything to her because Ren went with her? I'm not sure. Again, I have so many questions therefore I need the next book ASAP!

3.5ish+ stars. Such a creative and unique new world we find ourselves in yet another new and unfinished series by G. Bailey here. My KU recommended feed had both this book and book 2 on the list leaving me oh so bereft when I realized that book 2 hasn't actually come out yet. Tricky, tricky.

Not our typical afterlife, supernatural world here. It seems that angel training isn't all love and roses.. though those things are definitely present. Unfortunately angel training is dangerous to your 2nd life health in all the ways and Angels have just the same problems as humans with jealousy and power hunger. Unfortunately for Kaitlyn, our FMC, she seems to be caught all kinds of in the middle of a war that has been playing out for centuries... and no answers seem to be coming only more and more questions.

CLIFFHANGER alert... the book ended with the answers just in range but no dice. Have no idea really where this is headed and how we are going to get back to where we were.. We have really fallen off here in the middle of a shit storm, up shit creek with no paddle in sight. Rode hard and put up wet... My recommendation? Wait for book 2 unless you just like being left hanging!

Let me start of by saying G Bailey could write the most terrible piece of trash, and I would still probably love it. She is definitely one of my favorite authors.

Kaitlyn was just a normal, not so normal small town girl. That is until she dies and becomes a guardian angel. She is thrown into life at the Angel Academy, where if you fail you die. On the outside the school is kind of perfect, but as Kaitlyn digs deeper she quickly realizes everything is not as it seems. As if things weren't complicated enough, the popular bad boy seems to have taken a liking to her, a hot vampire ghost keeps randomly popping into her room, and the kind gardener wants to be more than friends. Welcome to angelhood.

I loved this book so much. Ren was the villian that you couldn't help but love. But even then he isn't really the villian. He is a dark soul with a heart of gold that is set on vengeance for the death of his kind. What he did to Kaitlyn was seriously messed up though. I can't wait to see how he redeems himself, and watch their relationship grow. All of her men were amazing <3

Riley, my dude, you are seriously f*cked up. Being a controlling jealous asshole is definitely not the way to go. Besides, she has friend zoned you many many times. Slut shaming her, then going and sleeping with half the school. Yeahhh, not a hypocrite at all. Anyways, I hope you fall off a cliff.

This new series begins with a book that makes me love G Bailey more than I already did. Set in the same world as Tales and Time and Demon Academy, Descend is without a doubt, the best book yet. This Academy of angels is full of secrets and intrigue. Unputdownable, slow burn, tension filled and gearing up to be one of the best paranormal, reverse harem series of the year!

Ahh yes a girl who can see ghosts who dies and becomes an angel. This story follows a young girl who along with her best guy friend attend Angel Academy which is set in the same world as some of her other novels. The Angel Academy is darker and more dangerous than she ever expected but has come to find a group of guys to help her through. It is an RH romance.

3.5 rounded up

I always pick up books by Bailey, because the plots sound so interesting and complex - however, I am always thrown off by the writing style. It Feels a bit scattered, jumping in time and through points, while leaving large watches of description left unsaid. I do enjoy them, yet I struggle - and this book was no different. Love, betrayal, prophecy and drama.... is all here, mashed together in a way that makes sense, but still leaves something out.

First person, single POV, fantasy, Cliffhanger.
Character age range = 18+
Rating = Upper YA edging towards R.

Another great series started for G. Bailey. This one grabs you from the very beginning and doesn't let go even at the end. I have so many questions! Story was fast paced. Characters were likable. Ending was a cliffhanger of course. Overall loving the good/bad angel story.

Felt too rushed and disjointed

I typically am a HUGE fan of this author, but I have to say I was immensely disappointed by this book. To clarify, the plot and storyline are seriously fantastic and I liked the characters for the most part.

However, this entire book felt as if it was way too rushed. There wasn’t much character development or creation, which made it feel as if a lot of their actions just came out of no where with no real explanation. Everything just jumped around way too much, and didn’t make sense. I wanted to love the characters as they all had the potential to be crazy interesting, but the details just weren’t there.

I can easily see this book being a 5+ star read, if it was given a re-write and developed more throughly.

Kaityln can see ghosts. Her best friend is the only one who knows her secret. But one night on their way home from the movies, they both die in a car accident. When they wake it is to pain, a re birth. For now they are what is considered a guardian angel. But in order to be a guardian angel and watch over humans, she must first survive her second life at the Angel Academy. At the end of first year she is supposed to choose if she will be a light angel or dark. Things are not what they seem here at the academy, and as she meets new people, ones that she is getting close to, she struggles with who she can trust. Her life could depend on it.

In Descend we are introduced to Kaityln. I really liked her. She has a lot of spunk and is sassy. She is not afraid to befriend those she is not supposed to, simply because someone says she shouldn't. She is a loyal friend and looks after those she cares about.

The guys, I really can't say on who I like anymore. I started off really liking some characters and by the end not so much!! I will let you decide and judge for your self. The male leads are Ren, Thallon and Henry. Her best friend is Riley, and you will experience the same love to hate as I have I am sure.

I have really enjoyed this new look on light and dark angels that Gem has introduced to us. We also add a twist on vampires and you have an engaging plot that kept my interest until the end. That ending was shocking and left me screaming noooooo!!! I really cannot wait to find out what happens next in Silence. There is so much I need to know from the fall out of the ending.

I would rate G Bailey's new series' start with 4.5 stars! I really enjoyed the story, even though a couple things felt rushed but not like in past books where we didnt get much details/emotions/segue-ways. Descend did a good job filling us with background from the Angel Academy, about the guys, but especially Katy and her new bff Ves. I am super intrigued about the candy she devours btw! I feel so American haha.

So I have to say that Thallon is a dream!! I loved him from the beginning (I am an avid gardener so that helped seal the deal haha). I was on the fence with Red and was sooooo interested to see where things go by the end. Henry I knew had a soft spot for her but was crazy surprised with the twists at the end. I thought the twist was going to be with Thallon but boy was I wrong! The only reason I didnt give this 5 complete stars is I think the big reveal at the end didnt have enough ties/explanation beforehand. Like it came out of no where and the reader was sort left like...whaaaat? Like you don't have to reveal too much for everyone to guess, but you have to leave SOME bird crumbs/clues so when it happens people have an ah-ha moment. I didn't unfortunately. I had to go back and read passages to see if I missed anything.

Definitely think this series has potential to be one of G Bailey' best and cannot wait to read the next one (already preordered and dying for May to get here already or for Gem to release it early haha). Definitely recommend, has the G Bailey style that everyone loves. BTW totally want a Ayda in my next life ❤️❤️❤️

I found it to be an easy, enjoyable read until the end.

Good
1) The mystery-driven plot was intriguing
2) Female lead was likable, curious and able to stand up for herself
3) Wingless angel love interest was kind and sweet
4) Dark angel love interest was compelling

Mediocre
1) World-building was thin
2) Settings are pretty generic

Bad
1) This was not a novel, it was a novella
2) This was not a complete story, it was the first part of a complete story
3) Vampire ghost love interest's characterization was almost non-existent
4) There was no relationship-building between the female lead and the vampire ghost love interest so her attachment to him made no sense
5) The series arc is clearly about
6) But the worst and the reason I will not be continuing the series is: at the end

I keep reading this author's books in hopes of other great female leads like Evie from her A Demon's Fall series and Corvina from her Dark Fae Academy series but so far have been disappointed.

Reborn as angels and placed inside the angel academy are they.

A choice awaits them. Join the light or become one with the dark.

Which is more tempting, and will they choose the same side...?

Ooohhhh this is a very exciting start to a new series!!

I have a hundred questions begging to be answered right here, right now.

Angels, flying horses and four hot men all intetested in her! oh boy it doesn't get better than this!

I loved watching her make a connection with each of the potential mates and to be honest with you I don't know which way I'm leaning myself. My heart is most definitely singing to the tune of "why choose".

She's unique in her abilities and honest in her words, but they are all very different.

Riley hides behind their friendship and works in the shadows.

Ren is a mystery but is he trustworthy.

Henry is the king of the castle and spoken for, but also the temptation from the dark side.

Last but not least there's gardener Thallon. He's the sweetest of them all, but is that his truth..?

I cant wait to find out more of them and see where this goes. The possibilities are endless!

Five stars for the angels who dance upon my mind, and will parade in my dreams tonight!

Addicted!!

I loved this series so far more than the Demon Academy!! The secrets, the drama, the betrayal, it is all so fascinating to read!! I was hooked as soon as I started! I love how the author has created this entire world and has been able to create all these different series that piece together!

I am really enjoying the characters and their relationship development with each other. Riley and his behavior totally gutted me because I know how heart breaking it is to feel like you are drifting apart from your best friend and losing that close relationship. Ren was an interesting character and I actually liked him the most because of the air of mystery that surrounded him. He was quite an enigma...until the end and now I’m not entirely sure if I should like him or not... Henry was dark and teasing but I actually enjoyed reading about his character. Then their is Thallon who is sweet and is the perfect gentleman.

I am super excited to read the next book because I need to know more about everything!!! I highly recommend this series for lovers of Angels, vampires, drama, and plenty of sexual tension.

3.5 ⭐️

First I need to say something about this cover! Gem always has amazing covers for her books and this one is no different; it is absolutely gorgeous!!

Now this book is a bully rh academy romance which honestly, is a trope I’m getting a little sick of reading. I feel like I’ve just been overwhelmed with all of the bully academy books being released in the last like 6 months and I need a bit of a break from them. Despite this, Descend is a unique take on the academy trope that I really enjoyed! Angel Academy might sound heavenly, but it is ruthless and dangerous and very intriguing!

When Katy dies in a car crash with her friend Riley, they both are reborn and sent to Angel Academy. And while Riley seems to be drinking the koolaid, Katy is not easily pleased over her new life. She has questions and doubts and isn’t afraid to speak them. She also has a unique ability up her sleeve, she can see ghosts and has been able to from a young age. This ability introduces her to an interesting character Ren, who along with Henry and Thallon, appear to be some exciting new love interests for Katy.

Descend is a fun and exciting read that flows well from beginning to end. With a couple of Gem’s last books I struggled a bit to get into the dialogue and pacing of the books but this one seemed to have been given more time and attention which I liked. It does end on a cliffhanger, but Gem writes quick so I’m sure any questions will be answered soon with book two!

This book takes place in the same world as the Tales series and Demon Academy so I’m looking forward to one of Gem’s famous cross overs that I’m sure will be coming in a future book!

***I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.***
This book was way out of my normal "books I read", but it was totally worth it! I am not a huge fan of books about angels and nor would I normally read something like it. Honestly, if it wasn't written by G Bailey, I never would have read it!

This book follows a girl and her best friend who turn into angels, but these angels are not ordinary. They have the light or the dark side for all angel newbies to choose. Both sides have their pros and cons, but man are they cut-throat. You learn really quickly that you need to give it your all to survive. Of course there are some very sexy angels we come to love and others we love to hate. Oh and don't forget about Kaitlyn's secret friend!

This book ends in a huge cliffhanger! I needed the second book in the series like yesterday! I really cannot wait to see what happens because man that ending has me so confused as to where the book is going to go!

This book, while decently written, was meh. I felt like it was a Harry Potter rip off, for angels. Some inconsistencies as well (a student asked about light and dark angels not being able to have kids. 1: why would they need to have kids? They are angels when they die...unless I missed something. 2: the angels outside of the students seem to lead normal lives ie getting married, when they are supposed to be protecting special humans. 3: her best friend has a total 180 personality change). Also, why can’t the males or female students go into each other’s dorms? They are all over 18?? And the heroine is perfect at everything apparently; playing piano, gardening, flying her horse, knowing when not to fight, etc. And as one of the characters said: angel academy is just like high school. And it really is. So I DNF@53%. I’m pretty sure I have done the same thing with this author before, so maybe she’s just not for me.

I LOVED this book! Kaitlyn is amazing and this unique storyline is out of this world.

I love that Kaitlyn is drawn to the dark side and doesn't feel remorse or guilt about it. I love how she intrigued by Henry, because I definitely am. Ren is a mystery that keeps getting more and more mysterious. And Thallon is yummy.

Riley is a dick and I can't stand him. From the first chapter I've had a creep vibe from him. Vas is the bestest friend and I'm glad Kaitlyn has a close friend she can trust in this really crazy place full of enemies.

Angels are not as angelic as they seen to be and this academy proves that.

This universe G. Bailey created with this series and the Demon Academy series is becoming my absolute favorite and I'm kicking myself for not having read the Tales series first. Oh well, I'll get there eventually haha.

I am definitely recommending this to everyone I know!

G. Bailey's books never seem to disappoint! They suck you into the story and reaching the end is always a cruel torture....why does it have to end?

Kaitlyn must be thoroughly confused right now. Betrayals and secrets are making it hard to see the truth. Thallon, Henry, Ren....what's with them all? She wants them and is somehow drawn to them, but their secrets seem to be life or death. This academy is not all it's cut out to be.

I did not expect the book to turn out the way it did. It was bittersweet. I am torn between loving some characters and hating them...ok, so maybe not hating them but there is a definite dislike for some. I might be leaning towards hating the best friend, though. He is not my cup of tea. And that cliffhanger was explosive! I mean, there was some foreshadowing, but I still didn't expect it to turn out THAT way. And then that epilogue! Yeah, I am ready for book 2.

Even Angles Fall and bleed 🩸🤍

Must read!! Its so interesting from the very first pages until the last! i cannot express how awesome this story is from Gem!! I think is my new favorite! Katy recently died and goes to heaven... but its actually an academy. A very deadly one and you must survive to graduate. She is thrown into a new world she didn’t know existed like light angels and dark angels and everything in between. Plus her own secret shes been carrying her whole life: She sees ghosts. And the very first ghost she sees at the academy is non other than a vampire. Crazy. Secrets are painful and so its betrayal. Sexy harem you dont want to miss. cant wait for book two!!

A little unexpected!

To start this is a NA, slow-burn Fantasy RH. And if you have read any other Bailey books you’ll realise that this series is set in the same universe as the Lost Time and Demon Academy series.

For the most part of this book we follow our FMC as she navigates her second chance at life as an Angel in training. The expectations to succeed are high and fatal but at the end of the year she will need to choose whether to be a light or dark Angel. Obviously things aren’t that simple and we’re left with a cliffhanger that now leaves me with so many questions of what’s to happen in the next book - oh can’t wait !!

Absolutely a five-star read from the amazing G. Bailey! Angels and vampies, what will we next discover? I liked the academy setting and the lurking danger of death. It kept me on my toes.

This races by with action and burning questions left unanswered. I feel like we've barely hit the surface in getting to know the characters, and I truly can't wait to read what happens next. We've got such a spectacular world filled with possibilities.

So far, the potential love interests aren't all playing nice, so I'm intrigued to see how this will be resolved in true G. Bailey fashion. This is twisty and delicious.

Loved it!

I loved it, the whole thing. I've been reading G. Bailey's books for years now and I absolutely adore them. I love watching her grow as a writer and sometimes I actually have to close out of the book to see who the author is, that's how much she's grown! But the only complaint I have for this book, it's that Marijuana isn't a drug. It's a herb that is actually great for you, and I wish she would have done a little more research before publishing this. Other than that I'm pretty excited for the next book.

Captivated from the first page till the last, a great departure from the 'usual' Angel Academy stories. Love the main female lead, supporting cast is a fantastic blend of unique characters and the writing was such that it felt like i could be there in person. Highly recommend to all Fantasy fans. Have pre paid for book 2 on Amazon despite it being a KU book, well for my Australia zone that is, for me thats major as only ever pre paid one other time.

Intuitive

Kaitlyn and Riley have a close relationship but it looks like death separates them even though they die together. Kaitlyn's intuition is strong which probably comes from her ability to see ghosts. How she can be so wrong about Riley doesn't make sense. Maybe he is brainwashed after all. The guys that she is interested are all mysterious and sexy in their own way and I can't wait to learn more about them.

Did not see that coming!

Oh my word, I loved this book. Can't wait to read the next one. I was blown away when I got to the end, did not see any of the coming the way it turned out. I really didn't think Riley would hurt Katy like he did and turn on her, that just blow me away! This book was so good you won't be disappointed! Well done Gem!

This is one of the better books I’ve read lately by this author, next to Consequence. I love that it starts out strong and never stops. I love the guys and and am left with serious questions of how they will all come together. So great how it takes a dark turn at the end. I loved it and the ending left me needing the next one now.
