For the last few months, I’ve been looking for a good moisturizer that will do the job without clogging my pores or feeling like it’s “weighing down” my skin. I was able to receive a complimentary bottle of InstaNatural’s Retinol Moisturizer in exchange for my review, and I was excited to try it out.
On first inspection, the design is very clean and modern, and it gives me a sense of a company who takes pride in their organic products. This is a biggie for me because I have very sensitive skin that doesn’t like the extra fragrances and “fake” things in a lot of moisturizers you’ll buy over the counter.
Next thing I notice is when you pump the product in your hand to use, you probably don’t need a full pump. The first time using it, I used a full pump and it was just a bit too much for me and left my face slightly greasy. The next time I used it I only used half of a pump and it was perfect. It gave my face moisture without the grease.
The specific instructions tell you to use it at night before bed, and I have noticed that my skin feels softer and more supple the next day, which is huge for me. I have fairly oily skin, but after I cleanse, it gets quite tight and dry, so sometimes I use a small amount on my freshly cleansed skin and it helps get rid of that “it’s just the botox” feeling.
All in all, I’m very happy with this product and I will be continuing to use it. I look forward to trying their other skincare products, as well!
Wow. Where to even begin with this book? First off, this was my first Penelope Ward read…but I can guarantee it will not be my last.
RoomHate is the tale of Justin and Amelia, who were the very best of friends throughout childhood, but grew far apart after a misunderstanding coupled with teenage stubbornness. After fifteen years of not speaking, they are forced to live together due to unforeseen circumstances. There is plenty of animosity between the two–particularly from Justin toward Amelia–and the whole scenario seems doomed from the start.
While living together, old feelings start to resurface and confusion arises. Not only has it been years, but Justin has a girlfriend-and she’s living with them, too! To add insult to injury, Amelia has a surprising hurdle to get through, and it’s both encouraging and heart-wrenching to embark on this journey with her as she navigates new territory, with and without Justin. How will the two cope with their overwhelming feelings, and will they get a second chance? Well…you’ll just have to read it to find out 😉

Suffering from writer’s block, novelist Rachel Ames escapes to a lake cabin to calm her mind and regain a sense of herself. The location is perfect. Isolated. Beautiful. Inspiring. It even comes with a good-looking landlord who shows an interest in her. But she can’t shake the sense that something terrible has followed her to the lake, something just beyond her consciousness, something out on the edge where the sounds of a raging fire and sirens linger whenever she slows down to listen.
Determined to make the cabin work, she tries to settle in and give her new life a chance. But when strange things begin to happen around her, she wonders if she’s made a terrible mistake. As the darkness that’s followed her manifests itself in inexplicable ways, her concept of reality is stretched thin and she realizes nothing at the lake is what it seems.
As she fights to survive with her sanity intact, she understands too late that the location she’s chosen for herself is far from perfect.
I should begin by being completely frank: the genre this book falls under is not my preferred genre in the least. While I love thrillers in the movie genre, I tend to gravitate more toward romances in the book genre. Yes, there is an underline of romance in this novella (and yes, I am woman enough to admit that it thrilled me), the actual story is what kept me reading. In fact, once I started reading, I could not put it down.
Rachel is a tormented soul (hence the title), and the journey she begins at the lake is not only enticing and shocking, but it’s completely unnerving–and at times, downright frightening. Throughout the entire story, I was wondering right along with Rachel what secrets the cabin at the lake were hiding, and whether or not she could trust anyone. Honestly, I didn’t want to trust anyone in this story because I had no idea if I could or not! And the thing is, I absolutely loved the suspense! The whole thing played out like a movie in my mind. Gunhus has an incredible way of writing; he knows exactly how to describe each scene with an imaginative amount of detail and understanding.
This is a psychological thriller that will appeal to lovers of books of all genres–take it from the romance junkie! I cannot get this story out of my head (trust me, I mean that in a good way) and I’m dying to read the rest of his works now. I am so glad I found this novella!

I’ll be honest with you: the idea of a stepbrother romance really wigged me out. I love J. C. Valentine’s books, though, so I decided to give it a chance. I’m really glad I did. This book is nothing like how I initially perceived it; the main characters never grew up together, they had a very strong connection when they met as older teenagers (both were legal adults), and then their parents got married. There were several years between the day their parents got married and when they met up again when Vista–a physical therapist–comes to help Levi out, who had been injured in a soccer game. And when she gets there, the spark was most DEFINITELY still apparent.
Levi Black is–in my opinion–all things drool-worthy: tall, dark hair, bearded, tattooed…oh, yeah! His cockiness is a bit off-putting at first, but once you peel back a bit of those layers, you see an incredible man with a beautiful heart. If that doesn’t get you a little weak in the knees, then maybe you need to check your pulse! I mean, really. The model guy over to your left here? Look at that beard. Mmm, mmm. 😉
This really was a very lovely story. I didn’t expect to love this novel as much as I did, and I can guarantee you wholeheartedly that I will be rereading it several times until I am satisfied. There were a few moments I didn’t see coming, and there were scenarios that had me in tears. You will laugh, you’ll swoon, you’ll cry, and you’ll be thoroughly entertained all throughout reading. I really cannot say how much I enjoyed reading this story, and for that I was pleasantly surprised. 🙂 I highly recommend this novel for romance lovers everywhere!

As someone who lives with chronic pain every day of her life, anything that could possibly help alleviate some of that pain is more than welcome. So when I had the opportunity to purchase the tens unit from Santamedical, I knew I had to jump on it.
I had used a tens unit before, but I wasn’t too impressed with it, so I had never really thought they did much, but I was willing to try it again. I’m really glad I did, because it has truly helped me in ways I didn’t think would be possible. I have to take various pain medications, use pain management creams, and use heat and cold therapy in an attempt to lessen my pain, and this tens unit has helped relieve so much of my pain. It has given me more relief than I thought possible, and even though it’s most definitely not a miracle cure, it certainly has helped.
The tens unit has several different settings for different areas of the body, as well as different types of pulses it will send out. There are two plug ins available so you can place the sticky pads on either four different areas of your body, or you can share it with someone else. It’s extremely convenient and easy to use. I’m very happy with it 🙂
I most definitely recommend this product, especially if you struggle with chronic pain of any kind!

I used to be all about the earbuds, and don’t get me wrong–I still love earbuds! But sometimes you need a little fuller sound that draws you in deeper than earbuds can…and that’s when I love falling back on headphones. However, there’s a trick to headphones for me. I can’t just have any old pair of headphones; they have to be comfortable as well as have an incredible sound. I cannot have one without the other, because in this scenario, I’m pretty picky–and let’s face it, when it comes to our listening pleasures, we should be!
Enter the Sound Intone I68 Foldable Headphones. They feel like a dream over my ears–doesn’t make my skin hot or clamp down against my ears uncomfortably. The music envelopes me and keeps out any other sounds I don’t want to hear–all while providing a nice, comfortable cushion on my ears. And when I’m done listening, I can simply fold them up for easy storage! Genius. It also helps that they’re green…my favorite color 😉
I’m impressed with these headphones. Great quality without having to shell out a ton of money! I would be ready and willing to recommend these headphones to anyone who is in the market for them–or for someone looking to give a fantastic Christmas present! In fact, I ordered these headphones with the intent of giving them to my boyfriend for Christmas, and I absolutely cannot wait to give them to him! He’s been in need of some decent quality headphones, and I think I finally found him a pair he will be pleased with 🙂

To be honest with you, I have very little knowledge of Washington Irving’s The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, other than that of the infamous Headless Horseman and the names Ichabod Crane and Katrina Van Tassel. I knew bits and pieces of the story, mostly from Tim Burton’s take on the story in the 1999 film Sleepy Hollow, along with the few episodes I’ve seen of Fox’s popular television show of the same name. Neither of these adaptations compare with Dax Varley’s novel, written in the first-person in Katrina Van Tassel’s POV.
This is such a refreshing take on a legend that has been retold many times in many different ways. Varley brings life to a story that could be considered beaten to death, particularly shedding a new light on Katrina Van Tassel–a character on whom I had previously viewed as a spoiled socialite, intent on flirting with any man who showed her any ounce of attention, and playing the damsel-in-distress nonsense to new lengths to the point where she comes across as childish, selfish, and incredibly spoiled. While Varley’s Katrina is certainly rich and somewhat spoiled in her own right, she is certainly able to hold her own. Though she makes some questionable choices throughout the novel, her intent behind them is generally mostly pure. It is clear her relationships to her friends and family are very important to her, albeit to a fault in some circumstances. Katrina is independent, unwilling in any form to settle down, until meeting the strange and mysterious Ichabod Crane.
Ichabod Crane is the town’s newest teacher. He is highly educated and a firm believer in a new way of teaching the children, which catches the unwanted attention of the town’s council. He is everything a stodgy town set in its ways doesn’t want: energetic, eccentric, prone to trying new things, implementing a new curriculum, and a strong desire to teach the town’s slave children. He has quite an interest in the supernatural, particularly ghosts and witchcraft. Ichabod is not entirely likable to the “higher ups” of Sleepy Hollow, but he certainly catches the eye of a few young women; Katrina Van Tassel being one herself.
The events that transpire after the arrival of Ichabod Crane kept me highly intrigued. Not only was this book thrilling and at times quite mysterious, it was also quite romantic, exciting, and well-versed in the supernatural. I was actually sad for this story to end as I felt there was so much more to tell, which is probably why this is only the first book 😉 And let me tell you–I cannot wait to read the second! If you’re looking for a novel centered around romance, superstition, and the supernatural, look no further. This is a fun take on a story we’ve all heard in one way or another, and I couldn’t be more impressed with Dax Varley 🙂 I am definitely a new fan, and I will be reading more of her writings!

I’ll be honest: I’m pretty skeptical when it comes to things like this. My first thoughts were actually wondering exactly how my eyelashes would grow, and if that would even be possible from a serum like this. It doesn’t make sense to me how it should work…but it does!
First off: this product has no strange smell, nor does it have a weird color or texture. The serum is clear, goes on smooth (MUCH smoother than liquid eye liner!), and it doesn’t irritate my eyes. I have pretty sensitive skin, so I definitely view the last part of that description as a huge bonus.
After using it every day for a week, I noticed a fairly decent difference, especially considering you only use it once a day. My eyelashes appeared to be slightly longer, thicker, and they even curled a little bit without needing the use of an eyelash curler. Unfortunately shortly after this particular week, I got sick, so I have been unable to continue the treatment at the time being, but I am very excited to see more results! I would highly recommend this product. I’m loving how my eyelashes are looking!
