There's one place scarier than hell.

And we're in it.

There's a series of tunnels beneath the school that we must travel through in order to escape Tory's School for the Troubled.

But the world on the other side? It's a land of nightmares and monsters. A place where your worst fears come to life. A world of darkness and pain and suffering.

In order to return home, I must confront and conquer my demons. And with the help of five arresting men, that might be possible.

Beau, my childhood best friend. He may not say much, but I know he'll always have my back...even if he does break my heart.

Aiden, the cruel and vindictive ruler of the school who once blamed me for his sister's disappearance. Now, he can't decide if he wants to kiss me or choke me. The feeling's mutual.

Tanner, the flirty, passionate man who sets my skin ablaze, despite cutting me down with acerbic quips.

Kace, the man who has two sides to him I yearn to uncover. Stoic and intense one second, and exuberant the next.

And finally Heath, the psychopathic class president with cold eyes and a fake smile. He knows more about where we are than anyone else, but can I handle uncovering all of his secrets?

Death admitted us to Tory's School for the Troubled. Life might just be our only way out.

And for me and the psychotic men who now own my heart? It's into hell's depths we go.

This is book two of a horror/bully reverse harem romance. It contains strong language and sexual situations, as well as MM themes.

If you like your men a little broken and psychotic, your FMC a take-no-shit badass, and a plot that will leave you guessing until the very last page, then this is the book for you.

I knew early on I would likely enjoy this book mainly because of the setting. This time around Bianaca, her guys and a few others have to traverse the nine circles of hell. Not only will their will be tested but they’ll all have to face their own personal demons and either succeed or die. This was another fast read and by the end they only made it about halfway. Somewhere along their journey they do find time to explore the sexual tension between them all. I can’t tell yet if Heath will join the harem but as he’s their guide at the moment but also still keeping secrets. They need to start asking him the right questions. So far I’ve enjoyed how each level of hell seems to coincide with someone’s past in the group. At times they’re all separated but it’s not clear if everyone is experiencing the same thing or re-living someone’s else’s past. Regardless I still found it to be a bit crazy and exciting. Can’t wait to see what awaits them next.

this book was marginally better than the previous. I'm not giving it extra stars though because it still doesn't explain much.

Okay so now we know that they're purgatory. Or better yet trying to get out of purgatory. And judging by the ending, that doesn't seem like it's going to be possible. Maybe it will be. We shall see. Next year?

This is what I don't like about reading series. The amount of time that you have to wait in between books. A year seems like an extraordinary long time.

Personally if I was going to release a series, I would time it to be maybe 2 months in between. Personally I think that is a long enough time to make our readers wait, to build anticipation, to bring the promise of an ending to our readers. And also enough time to build suspense, without losing my readers interest.

If I had known, that I had to wait for an entire year to get to the end, I wouldn't have started this series. I would have left it on my TBR list, and revisit it in a year.

The longest I will wait for a new book from an author, is 6 months. 6 months is bordering on the lose interest idea.

I would love to find out what happens at the end of this book, since I have invested all this time. But I guarantee that I'm going to lose interest between now and next july.

It's just not worth a year's time of waiting.

No offense to the author of course.

This book ventured slightly outside of the realm of young adult. I would say the purgatory, for lack of a better word, between young adult and new adult. You know that area where they're just exploring what could be? Yeah that's where this all fell in. Granted the sexual scenes were a little bit more intimate than the previous book, but there was still that annoying young adult feel to it.

And before anyone asks, the reason that I read this book, was because it showed up in a feed that I am subscribed to under erotic RH novels.

To me there's a difference between sexual and erotic. Sexual is more of a gentle pressure. Erotica is more of a bulldozer. You know, rushing in and rubbing that intense sexual, erotic, lusting, passionate, hunger. That is erotic. Erotica.

This book was a gentle tease. Maybe I'm corrupted by all of the overly sexual books that I've read in the past.

And maybe reading three completed series by Alex Lidell has ruined me for everyone else lol. But even her books weren't too bad. They're pretty kinky but they weren't, you know, over the top.

I don't know what it is exactly. it's just that I couldn't connect as well as I would have loved to with this book. Or the other.

And now the fact that I have to wait another year just to be able to see what happens next, already I'm frustrated and not interested in waiting.

Also to give you a reason why a year is too long, after a year we're going to have to reread the previous book in order to understand the next book. Even with her little update at the beginning. I just don't like having to reread something in order to understand the next.

This is my first experience with this author, and out of 10 I would have to give it a four. And that's being generous. And the reason is, I didn't connect. As soon as I was about to connect it all just blew up in smoke. And also every time I start to connect with the scene, she threw in somebody else's story as if it was more important. That was a bulldozer right there.

And again I would really love to know what story everyone else is reading that gave it higher marks. Because I don't see it. The story is there, that's why I gave it one star and the connections are possibly there, they're just not feeling connected if that makes sense. Which was another star. And I could care about the characters, but not connect to them again lol. But I gave it a star. That's my three stars. I just wish I could have connected better. Basically all the stars that I gave, were on potential connections. Not actually being connected. If they all connected, if the weave in the tail connected everybody and the story, then I would have given five stars.

So once again for anyone reading this, I strongly suggest that when they're placing this on their reading lists, if they create them, label this between, LOL pun young adult and new adult.

I am not sure if I will give this author another chance. Part of my mind says to do it. Because I've already invested this time, I should at least look at one of her completed series, and see if it gets any better. The other part of me tells me not to waste my time, because I already have an impression, and it hasn't changed much between the two books.

If you're reading my review, chances are you've read other reviews of mine, what do you think I should do? Do you, the reader of my reviews, think I should try one of her completed series?

Also, knowing that I like the RH genre, can you suggest one that may feed my fantasies better than this one did?

Again as I said this author is new to me, so I meant absolutely no offense. I only wanted to share my personal opinion. My personal experience.

Last week I read between and it was love at first sight. To prevent a reading slump I always like to have at least a week between reading two books by the same author, but this week of waiting was torture! I was so curious! I was so excited! I just wanted to read on and discover the next part of the journey with these characters. So, this morning I couldn't wait any longer and started reading. And reading. And reading.

Because just like with the first book it was impossible for me to put down the book. That's partly because Katie May's writing style is just perfect for the way I want to read and experience a story and book. She's so focussed on the characters, their emotions, the way they're dealing with whatever is thrown at them. It's not about WHAT happens, it's about what the things happening do with those characters and how it changes them.

And there is a lot happening to our characters in this book. There is a lot of growing to do, a lot of learning to do, a lot of breaking down and a lot of putting themselves together again. And along the way we therefore learn more about those characters, what has landed them here and how their lives before they came here looked like. And this also helps the characters to see each other in a new way. And in some cases they needed that.

Because those characters are clearly coming with a history. Some of them are diagnosed with medical conditions that really make their lives harder, others have dealt with abuse or criminality. And those things do something with someone. And it's not simply making people stronger. That's not how it works. And May shows that. It means the characters aren't always nice or kind, they do mess up, sometimes even badly. And yet, I'm still rooting for them. Until hell and back.

Twisty story

I adore Katie May and her books! This story is very interesting. It's dark in the sense that the characters deal with dark subject matter. But its not the darkest I've ever read. When you start to think you know what's happening, things shift and you get a bit confused. I'm enjoying the character development for sure and the story keeps my attention. I took one star away because I absolutely hate when the FMC keeps something big from her men under the misguided thought they cant handle it. Annoys me to no end. I'm going to make the assumption its because of B's young age. I'm still annoyed with her though, haha. Some spice mixed in with all the crazy and I would definitely recommend this book!

Much better

I like the first book in a very general way. It gave me whiplash with how all over the place Bianaca was. And how the guys were so back and forth. This book flows better and I am actually glad I read the 2nd book. Because I was considering calling quits.

With this book you get glimpses of the inner workings of Heath. You find out his story. And I definitely want to know more. He intrigues me. Especially with that epilogue.

I am also curious as to how all of them know each other because it feels like they do. They have met in the real world. Like that seems to be the connection between them all. Why they are drawn to each other. Because they know each other and just don’t remember how they do. And this I can’t wait to find out either.

Short but good

This is the next installment and did it deliver, however, not enough. I give it a solid 3.5 but rounded up because the story for even better and the sexy scenes where hot! The first book was about 350 pages and this was close to 160 pages. I dont mind shorter books, however, I think this one could have continued and left off at a different point. There are a few more twists at the end which did make it enjoyable. I will read the next one, if I remember when it comes out. I put it on my list but the release date is next July 2022! I am not sure if I will pick it back up just because of that. However, it was a good book.

So much better than the first book. Once the story picked up, the action was nonstop. There was also a lot more ~spooky~ aspects that made this a great October read (the mannequin scene in particular gave me goosebumps). While a lot of questions were answered in this book, I’m now left with even more questions. I was able to predict quite a bit of this story, but I am actually not quite sure how this series is going to end. I had more thoughts, but my brain is tired. I told myself I’d read just a couple of chapters of this before bed and wound up finishing the whole thing, so that’s something.

One HELL of a trip!

I literally could NOT put this book down!! It is an amazing follow up to Between. It answered so many questions from book 1.. but also added so many new ones to be answered in book 3. Purgatory is one scary place.. i dont wanna go there any time soon.
In this book we learn more of the characters pasts when they have to confront their own demons. The plot twist was something I was NOT expecting but now thinking back.. I should have totally seen it coming!
I am super excited for book 3 and cant wait!! Keep up the amazing work!

Oh man!

I've been waiting for this book for a long time and man was the wait worth it! Katie knocked this one out of the park. I still trying to figure out what's happening! Every time I think I have it figured out, she throws me for a loop! I love learning more about all the guys as we go too. Seeing their pain, their passions and hurt...ugh it's just so so good. I highly recommend this series to anyone who loves a good thriller and loves to be kept on their toes!

Even better than the first!

I have to say that this book was even better than the first one. I feel I know the characters a bit better and am more invested in their survival. Beau finding his voice, really finding it, was awesome. I wish I got to read what happened to everyone else in the Wrath circle. Was it similar to Kace? I'm dying to find out how Josie is still around. So many other things I'm wanting to know and need to find out. Come one book 3, I'm so ready!!

Trippy but compelling

Yes, this is one of the more bizarre series I’ve read, filled with soooo many questions, just when you think you’re getting an answer you realise it’s either half of one or no answer at all. Love that each character is given loads of space to tell their story, and that Kelly and her men are tagging along for the ride...but what’s Heath doing...? Cliffhanger. TWs so pay heed. 5 stars. Strongly recommend.

All these questions

I've got so many questions, and new crushes to be added, where I found Heath annoying in book 1, I have a crush on him now, and I feel sorry for him.

But what a ride people, and it's pretty hard to read about some parts in the book, but I found if worth my while. So read read read and cry knowing you have to wait for book 3

Mindfu....

Huge fan of Katie May and have read many, many of her series. This one strays from her norm, but in such a good, twisted way. Her exquisite character and world development remains with a psychological mindf*ck layer that keeps you on your toes. While it's not my favorite series of Katie's, I devoured these two books and anxiously await the third.

Crazy adventure!

Wow this book was intense. The trials they faced and what they went through was rough. And knowing a little about Heath‘s history was like a bomb dropping! I knew something was off with him, but I didn’t think it was that. I’m curious to see where things go next and what happens if/when they get out of the rings.

Obsessed

This book is a complete and total mind trick. I don’t know which way is up or down anymore. But I’m loving every single page I read. Now I’m off to download the next book! Hopefully once I get to the end I can explain why I love it so much. There’s still so many questions.

I love this series and the worldbuilding that has gone into it. There are so many unanswered questions, but we’re getting answers to some of them. I love the way that Katie builds in flashes from the character’s past, allowing us hints along the way. Now, the real questions becomes what next? I’ll be diving into the next book as soon as possible to find out because I’m addicted to this series.

Really good.book

Really good book. Though not into guy on guy sex. Nothing against it just not into it. I wish she'd get closer to her best fire Beau . I like the first book much better. But sad it's over. Waiting for the next book.

What lay beyond these tunnels and gated walls?

Still a lot of unanswered questions... None of them can remember what happened before purgatory. During their attempt at escape, they are put through many trials. So ready to find out how this ends with all of them!

wow

This series is amazing! A total different take on everything I have ever read. Honestly I love the adding for the mental health issue. So many fight with that exact thing and to see it put into words, to see someone understand is life changing!

I keep getting more and more intrigued

I love how they are all somehow interconnected, but we don’t know how yet. Heath is such an intriguing character that has me wanting to peel apart his layers. I also want to know more about Kelly and her harem of guys!
