The code at the end to get a free copy on smashwords of a coloring book based on this story is a nice bonus. It would have been good to have pictures to color of the Dark Lords, Shadow Wolves and the witch.

The watchers is an amazing book about a unique young girl living in England in 1200AD. At first she doesn't realize what she's capable of until she has to protect the ones she loves.

This book has a great love story, beautiful mythical creatures, evil villains, and ever lasting friendships with unexpected people. Even if your not too fond of fantasy books, this is still a great book to read.

The watchers is also a family-friendly book with no curse words or sexual content. This book is great for Tweens and young teens, and adults.

I can't wait till the rest of the series comes out!

I received a review copy of this book, and I absolutely LOVED it! The author wrote a short, heart-felt story of a girl struggling with her identity and dealing with tragedy, while including fun fantasy aspects that made me wish I were the heroine. I don't know how she packed all the emotions and wonderful themes into such a short book, but I can't wait for the rest of the series!

The characters and relationships were built remarkably well in a short period of time. There was also a wide variety of characters ranging from a incredibly strong heroine, cute/lovable pixie to a putrid villain. And the love story! Wow, I still can't get over it, and I've already reread this book!

Even people who don't like fantasy will enjoy this book. It's a historical fantasy, taking place in England in 1200 AD, and while there are fantasy aspects, the author gives us a well-researched a glimpse at that period. The book focuses more on self-discovery than magic, dragons, and fairies (which are in this book.)

This book's content was super clean, with only one remotely violent description (of a monster who is killed), and NO sexual content or profanity. This book is appropriate for young readers, and they're going to love it. My kids (ages 8 and 10) watched the book trailer (love it, by the way!) and keep asking me when they get to read it. :) I'm excited to share this family-friendly fantasy book with them.

I was immediately hooked on this book, even though it's a fairly short book you grow to love the characters very quickly.
Auriella is a young girl living in England in 1270 A.D. She goes on a life changing adventure to discover who she really is after she discovers she may not be all that human.
In a magical world that seems so life like with mythical beings some friend some foe, like Rubert a dwarf that has taken on the task of protecting Auriella and a pixie named Cassi who also joins Auriella on her journey and also the terrifying Hazella who kidnaps Auriella and makes her a slave. But she isn't the meanest thing Auriella comes across there are worse things!
I would recommend this book to YA readers or the young at heart. There is some minor gore nothing drastic. And with a little bit of a cute love story it's bound to grab the attention of a few different readers.

Knight of Light by Deirdra Eden, Book One of The Watchers Series, is an epic fantasy that hooked me from the very first sentence. The action intense at times, the writing always thoughtful, is the story of young Auriella, an orphan girl in her fight for survival in a world of witches, demons and Shadow Wolves.

Eden’s rich descriptive language allows the reader to plunge willingly into a world fraught with peril, adventure, and even a little love as Auriella overcomes all odds against her, and learns her true identity as the Lady of Neviah, predestined to overthrow the Shadow Legion.

Knight of Light came to a satisfying end, although I must say that I felt a little sad as I turned the last page—that, to me, is the sign of a good read!

It's been a while since I enjoyed so much reading a fairy tale. Well, fairy tale in a way regarding the characters and the creatures that we encounter in the world created by Deirdra. A world in which England’s medieval and chilvarous time is combined with the Celtic fantasy world (and many more). A world where evil happens, the brutality that was characteristic to medieval times is not spared, prejudice and loss being found their place in the story and offering to it realism and motivation.

The rhythm varies according to the needs of the scenario, and those that seem to be moments of respite, the romantic part, are fleeting ones, but motivate the reasons for changes in direction. I hope the next volumes will bring their fruition and what seems now lost forever to be just that, a phase. I liked that the author did not forget to sneak figures of speech and descriptions that emphasize the moments and moods of the characters.

The heroine is not exempt from pain and anguish. In addition to her main fear to be what she does not want to be, she will have her fair share of losses and suffering that will feed her emotions and will influence her future decisions. The secondary characters are varied, attractive and fit to be loved.

Another thing that I liked was that the names of places and people used by the author made me to look for explanations and correspondences in Christian and universal mythology.

Having in view that I read with much pleasure this first volume of the series The Watchers even if I am not a young adult reader anymore, I can only tell you one thing: try it!

Family Friendly Fantasy (Audiobook)
This book covers Auriella's teenage years and the discovery of who she is (or was). Despite adversary and fear (hers & others) she manages to hold onto hope, joy and a willingness to help make the world better.

I was confused about how the title "The Watchers" played into the book, but once I listened to chapter 19 (audio chapter 20) everything fell into place. I definitely want to learn more about Neviah in future books.

Julia Farmer did a fabulous job immersing the listener in the world and giving each character a distant voice and personality. I especially enjoyed her portrayal of Cassi, the pixie, which added extra energy & some humor each time she spoke.

My favorite idea from this book (paraphrased) is that things change not by one person doing millions of things, but by millions of people doing what they can. For the latter to happen, Auriella is the perfect inspiration.

I was asked to review this book by Tomoson Promotional Services. I had no expectations one way of the other.
I found myself pleasantly surprised by the quality of the story. The tale is set in medieval England. Believing the wrong thing, or, simply being different, can mean a death sentence.
The heroine, Aurellia, has special powers. In spite of this, she is very believable. She is neither a damsel in distress nor a butt-kicking femme fatale. She is a young woman with a strong moral code. She is determined to do what's right. She is, however, understandably worried. She could be burned at the stake for what she is.
Eden's writing style is easy to read, but not "dumbed down" in any way. The story is engaging, the main protagonist is likable.
I'm happy to say that this book won me over! I look forward to reading more of Ms. Eden's work.

I won a copy of Knight of Light via a goodreads giveaway and let me tell you, I am so happy I did! I absolutely LOVED it! It had me completely engrossed from the beginning. The fairytale Deirdra has created is unique, complex, and full of adventure. You can't help but love the main character Auriella as she grows and finds first love, life long friendships, and her true identity. I highly recommend this amazing new series!

Deirdra Eden has created a wondrous tale for an epic fantasy that keeps the reader engaged from first to last word. Knight of Light, the first novel in The Watchers series is filled with fairies, dwarves, pixies, dragons, demons, monsters, and a witch. Accused of witchcraft, Auriella discovers incredible, but dangerous powers within herself.

This is a Young Adult Fantasy read. Something for young readers to start to read with minimal violence and gentle love. It has it's slower moments with details, but this is where Auriella makes her friends and falls in love with an area and family. It feels as it's a build up to more to come. We finally get an explanation to what Auriella is about four hours into the five and a half hour book. This is the beginning of battles to come.

We are now set up for the battles to come, the fights that Auriella will have to face, and maybe find more like her along the way.

****FULL REVIEW****
*This audiobook was provided by the author, narrator, or publisher at no cost in exchange for an unbiased review courtesy of AudiobookBlast dot com, at my request.

Auriella learns she is something more powerful than a witch, and the Shadow Legion wants her, when she runs into a burning house to save trapped children and her skin is unblemished by the fire. She hides for her safety, but that isn't as safe for her either. Auriella will have to face and learn what she is and what she's to do. The path she takes will be one of her own timing to get there.

Julia is a new narrator to me. I found I liked her voice. Her voice is soft, gentle, like a whisper-y sound but not quiet. She speaks each work clearly. She has a slight accent that feels to suit Auriella. I liked the small, higher pitched voice for Cassie, it fits for a pixie. Julia does different voice sounds and tones for the many characters we cross here, which is always a great bonus. The quality of the narration is well done, clear, and enjoyable without distractions.

This story is of Auriella as she grows as a person in this world. After the first four chapters I felt like Auriella didn't have a direction in life. She's not planing on going anywhere, any plans or wants beyond getting away. She ran from the Shadow Lord, the people who believe her a witch, and then planed to run from the cruel witch she served. But there was no ideas after that. No drive other than away from harm. When Auriella finds Cassie she has more direction to save them both. In chapter ten, about two hours in, we get a strong purpose for Auriella. This is when she finds out what she is but still has to verify it. This is something Auriella has to come to accept to move on with what she was sent here for, time will help her accept this as she ages and grows. It's close to the end when she knows what it is she wants to do, and goes for it full steam.

This story feels like a prequel in a sense to me. It brings Auriella to where she needs to be in mind and body through all she's lived through.

Knight of Light was an interesting combination of history and fantasy adorned with religious trappings that left me wanting more. Knowing Eden’s penchant for fairy tales, I didn’t even read the blurb before deciding to read the book. So even though the history came as a surprise, the details of the medieval period along with the characters’ behavior felt authentic, making the fantastic elements more believable. There was more than enough fantasy to hold my interest, and the main character Auriella’s plight made it easy to identify with her.

The story starts just before she is falsely accused as a witch. At first, her blossoming powers aid her escape, but they’re nothing compared to the real witch’s powers or those of mankind’s enemy, the Shadow Lords. Eden’s best strength seems to be her ability to weave fiction, fact, and religion into a coat of many colors with hidden pockets of surprises. In one pocket, Eden mixes religious symbols from the old world and new. In another, she separates mankind’s spiritual and physical aspects to invent a new mythology. Neviahan history gives Erebus and the Shadow Lords roles similar to Satan and his followers.

I liked the interplay of Auriella with her magical friends. The humor lightened and leavened the parts where Auriella was mistreated and tortured. However, the clunky writing annoyed me before I got hooked on the characters: sentence after sentence with similar structure. For the sake of flow, please turn around more sentences in future books. The other thing that pulled me out of the story was Auriella often mentioning her hair and/or skin color, even in situations where survival should have been uppermost in her mind. It came across as vain in a personality that seemed otherwise self-effacing.

Everything else was in place, even the weather. Along with the vivid settings, it’s remarkable to find a debut where natural phenomena affects the characters this much. The plot includes well-developed turning points and setbacks that kept me turning pages. I also appreciated the pacing as Auriella’s character went from timid orphan to strong and confident warrior with considerable adversity barring her way.

Overall, Knight of Light is a fairytale with enough depth for all ages. Well, maybe not men who consider women inferior. No content warnings other than violence: there were only one or two kisses and no swearing. I would have no qualms handing the book to a preteen with the emotional maturity to handle deaths of loved ones and the level of violence common in medieval times. 3 stars for an engaging debut I liked, but 4 stars for tweens/teens. I was provided a free copy in exchange for an honest review.

The Watchers: Knight of Light audiobook, and I have the digital copy, is read very well, clear, with nice voice changes by the reader, Julia Farmer. This is a fantasy adventure written in first person viewpoint from the main character of the story. It has all the wonderful creatures, magic, and evil that makes for an exciting fantasy adventure you love to read or listen too.
The story centers on a young, orphan girl named Auriella and she has to leave the only home she knows due to being accused as a witch. The time period is 1270 A.D. and is in England so being accused as a witch is not a good thing. She ends up indebted to a evil witch that saved her life whom terrorizes he as she keeps her enslaved. Auriella learns she is more than she seems and has a power she was not aware of. Then she escapes with help of her friends, a pixie and a dwarf then she cant start her quest in self-discovery. She does not know what she is or who she may be and does not feel she will meet everyone's expectations. This story grabs you from the beginning and keeps you on the edge of your seat then slows a little into the adventure as she prepares to take part in a role where she is more than a poor orphan.
This is great story for young adults or adults as it has adventure, friendship, creatures, villains, humor, and interesting characters and is an easy read or easy to listen too. There are no difficult concepts or inappropriate content that would not be suitable for young adults. I enjoyed the story and it feels like the beginning of an fun and exciting new adventure. There are parts that feel a little unrealistic as it 's a little too easy for Auriella as she meets new people, creatures, or receives help. Things just seem to go a little too smooth in her quest after she was tormented at the beginning. Auriella's angst should be increasing, not decreasing in the story. Yet this is just a first of a series and meant to be more of a prequel of a new and exciting story that really has not begun yet and we are being introduced to the world, characters, and our heroine. I gave this book a 4 star rating as I was expecting a little more based on the editorial review and it did not really provide the action, drama, or angst I was expecting after the first third of the book. Overall, it was still a great read and I loved listening to it also. It is good in either format.
**I was invited to read and listen to this book for free and provide a honest, unbiased review. My opinions are 100% my own.**

Positive Points
This book reads like a traditionally published novel. I'm impressed by the nearly perfect grammar (well, except for the witch's dialogues, but that's how she speaks).

The voices are what made me keep reading. Auriella, the witch, the pixie, and the dwarf all have distinct, original voices. Well done. Quite a variety of interesting characters too, as you can see. Ruburt the dwarf is my favorite.

The story starts with a lot of action and kept me interested until the end. I kept wondering who Auriella was. A witch? A watcher? (What's a watcher, anyway?) ... Something else?

Negative Points
There were quite a few scary parts (including whipping), some kissing and light romance, death, blood, but also a fairy tale feel that would appeal more to younger kids. The main character is fourteen, which places this novel somewhere in between MG and YA: too scary for MG, but maybe a bit too young for YA. I wasn't quite sure who this book was intended to.

There is a lot of front matter before the story begins (table of content, acknowledgements, other books in the series, ...). I would suggest moving those items at the end so the reader doesn't have to scroll through 7% of the book before starting the story. The version I received had two tables of content and some nearly empty pages, but these issues seem to have been corrected, judging by the preview on Amazon.

What makes this book unique
This could be described as a fairy tale for older kids. There aren't many novels with fourteen-year-old main characters because they are hard to sell. I was reading blog posts about this just recently. Some authors decide to change the main character's age to either twelve or fifteen-sixteen to be able to sell their books to a publisher.

Overall Impression
I would think this book would appeal to twelve- to fourteen-year-old kids, and to anyone who likes fairy tales with a kick. Upper MG? Younger YA? You decide.

original review @ JC's Book Haven.

"I know who you are," he hissed, sounding more serpentine than human.
Who did he think I was? I stumbled away from him, walking backward until my back pressed against a nearby cart. The corner of his his lips turned up in a dark smile, and his snake-like eyes went wild with hunger.
He turned to the crowd. "I tell you, she's a witch."

The Good
For the most part, I'm a fan of our heroine Auriella. She has some sweet abilities and knack for getting out of trouble (and getting into trouble but they do kind of go hand in hand). Plus, who doesn't like a wide assortment of mythical creatures to adventure with and run into as well as knights and a band of mercenaries. A wicked witch and her cabin in the woods being a terror for our heroine gives the story a Brothers Grimm feel for me in a good way.

The Bad
Remember I did say for the most part with Auriella? Well, if I have a complaint it's the fact that she embodies Charlie Brown so much for so long in this book. I found myself wish she would Woman up one too many times. I understood her being that way for a while, I just felt she embraced it a little too long is all.

The Romance
Auriella does find love and it's a key part to her growing as a hero. Can a Dwarf and a Pixie fall in love? Guess you'll have to read the book and see.

Conclusion
Amazing fantasy book really. Had plenty of magic, monsters and fights. It had feel good moments coupled with heart breaking events that made you feel for our hero. Plus, there's a dragon. What more do you need than a dragon (besides and the other stuff I mentioned)? I totally recommend this book.

#thewatchers A Right Mix Of Enthralling Fantasy Adventure

This is the story of human watchers. The Watchers: Knight of Light by Deirdra Eden is a right mix of everything you would ask for in a fantasy adventure. The story revolves around somewhere in England during the period 1270 A.D. You will find fairies, dragons, demons, dwarves, monsters and what not, whatever you could imagine. Whatever you could imagine, this book is going to take you beyond all imaginations to produce a different kind of adventure. This book is a part of Watchers series. The theme of the series is Braveheart meets Supernatural.

There is a touch of spiritualism and mysticism with a scriptural flavor in the story of The Watchers: Knight of Light by Deirdra Eden. The Watchers though exist in the form of human beings but in fact, are supernatural beings. They have a singular purpose of existence. The purpose is to stay alert to guard and protect human beings from the enemies living in darkness. But tragic part is that some of these Watchers forgot their purpose of protecting mankind and started deviating to a wrong path. The book is so well written in a fairy-tale style that it takes you along in the journey of a young girl discovering extreme powers within her.

In The Watchers: Knight of Light by Deirdra Eden you will find an impounding storyline that hooks you throughout right from the first page. This is the story of Auriella and Neviahan. Both have immense power and are strong enough to handle any kind of situation. Overall an interesting and powerful story for any age.

I really quite enjoyed this book.

The beginning had me by the throa. Eden really didn't hold back with Hazella. I LOVE that in a story. The dwarf and the fairy were a lot of fun without being overbearing. One of the best things of this books is the fantasy elements like dragons, fairies, dwarves, etc. They are well introduced and just a lot of fun.

The only reason I don't give it a four star is because the book seems to shift after Hazella. There's tons of tension about the Shadow Lord chasing her, the fairy queen helps, then Auriella just stays in one place. Uh, really? After that, the focus of the book shifts to her becoming a knight. I was like, wait? What about the Shadow Lords?

It seemed a little too "convenient" to provide a romance, so I was disappointed that the tension at the beginning didn't continue. Also, Auriella was a little too perfect. She got everything really easily (except for at the beginning with Hazella, when she really struggled). She'd just run into people that accepted her and paid her way for things and gave her stuff. The ending seemed rushed as well, but that might have been because the plot had just taken a totally different course that didn't fit with the beginning.

All that being said, however, I still really enjoyed the writing. There were some places in this book that I just thought, "Ah! That's great!' One other good aspect is that it really could be read for a younger audience because it's pretty simple. I'd recommend this for middle grade kids.

Auriella is a young orphan girl, who wants nothing more than to be normal and to belong somewhere. She has no choice but to run away from her village after an incident that had them believing she was a witch. Her story is full of danger, darkness and heartbreak, but also love and unexpected friendships.

I absolutely love how dark Knight of Light is! It not for the faint of heart, there are moments of torture, brutal fights and heavy losses. We follow Aurellia as she goes through many life changes, from an abandoned orphan to a captive slave, then to a lady and finally to fulfil her destiny as a Watcher. The story has everything! It had me hooked from the start, incredibly fast paced and action-packed!

The story takes place in England, however it is an England full of magic, shadow lords and shadow wolfs, elemental powers, horribly wicked witches and magical necklaces. Aurellia goes through so many hardships, I couldn't possible endure half of the things she went through. The witch Hazella will forever haunt my nightmares, I hadn't felt afraid while reading in some time, Deirdra Eden truly knows how to write an appalling villain.

Knight of Light has also many beautiful moments of true friendship and a slow-burn love. One of my favorite side characters was Cassi the pixie. All of her dialogues were fun and adorable!
" Cassi might walk into a spider's web, then what would we do? What would we do? "

I will start book 2 right away! Thank you so much to the author for gifting me a copy for review.

I was pleasantly surprised by this book. I have become tired of the fantasy story where the guy is the hero and if there is a female she is a love interest/ accidentally along for the ride.

Auriella is a normal girl until her family dies in a horrible fire. At the start of the book she is working odd jobs in her village in return for food and clothing and a place to sleep. Suddenly she is forced to make a choice that saves the lives of children but brands her a witch. She is forced to go on a journey alone as she finds herself kept as a slave, then escapes with the help of a dwarf and pixie. Meanwhile she discovers that she has powers that mere mortals do not have. Auriella needs to find her place in the world that she lives in, a world that needs her to accept her powers so she can save it.

I would recommend this book to middle school readers. It may be a bit easy for high school readers but is still a fun read. There is so much allegory in the book of a young female finding her powers that IMHO all girls going through puberty need to know. That yes it is a confusing time but you will come out as a strong woman.

I will echo the complaint that there were parts that seemed to happen to easy- especially towards the final chapters.

This is an incredibly short book that packs A LOT of story into a very small space. If it would've been longer, I would've definitely rated it 4 stars.

I would not rate this book as a YA book. This would be a teen book in my opinion. (young teen) The ideas and dialogue were very simple. Very straightforward. There is very little violence, some romance, but nothing more than a kiss, and no bad words. It also has a lot of "I'm an ugly orphan. No! You're a beautiful, special, and gifted girl!" Everyone thought she was beautiful, except her. We get to hear about that a lot. She also happens to fall in with just the right people at just the right times. It seems too orchestrated and after her imprisonment by the witch, everything seemed to come so easy to her. I was annoyed by her perfection and constant doubt.

The idea behind the story is a good one. I like the premise and want to know more about the history of the Neviahans. More about dragons, fairies, dwarves, pixies, and Shadow Lords. Especially Erebus. The book was rushed and touched on all these topics, but we really didn't get to learn much about any of them. If there was an editor, I think they might've been too heavy handed, cutting out too much.

All in all a quick, fun read. I liked it enough that I might be tempted to read the next book, but it's not exactly high on my priority list right now.

This is the first book in a new series that I think might work best for tweens or teens given the topics covered -- murder, war, slavery, magic, love, betrayal, etc. The language is a bit flowery at times but not complex, you won't need to look for a dictionary if you've gone through sixth grade.

The plot lingers on some parts yet sprints forward in others. For example we get a lot detail about our heroine Auriella's captivity to a nasty witch, Hazella, yet very quickly get her from completely illiterate to helping negotiate political matters through her literary in the course of the second half of the book. I think her education and enculturation at the estate of Lady Hannah needed more time and her grand war adventures could have been pushed back to book two, for example.

Auriella is very well crafted, otherwise, and you feel for her, you cheer for her, right from the start. Her sidekicks Cassi and Ruburt -- pixie and dwarf -- are entertaining while Hazella is just outright nasty but not particularly complex. The supporting characters vary greatly in their depth but honestly they don't need to be complex; I'm so tired of books with too many flipping characters developed deeply only to be cast off. This story keeps the plot moving along.

I received a free copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

This was a fun, fluffy, quick read. It's definitely written for a younger audience. It's not a long book, has short chapters and the writing is fairly simply. That's not to say that the subject matter and story falls short. Quite the contrary.

The story is set in England in the 1200s and revolves around Auriella, an orphan girl just trying to scratch out a living in a small town. When a fire breaks out, she runs in the cottage to save the family and comes out unscathed. She does not know why the fire didn't burn her, but rather than being thanked, she is immediately deemed a witch and must flee to save her life. While running through the woods she is attacked by wolves and wakes up a captive of an old witch.

During her captivity Auriella realizes that she is not like other girls and has powers she doesn't understand and can't control very well. The rest of the book details her journey to discovery who she is, what her purpose is and what she needs to do to find her place in the world.

While over-simplified and uncomplicated, the book is an entertaining read and I would be interested in reading the next book in the series.

The Watchers : Knight of Light by Deirdra Eden

I had just started reading this story on Wattpad and was really enjoying it, when the author, Deirdra Eden asked if I would be interested in doing a proper review.
There was absolutely no hesitation on my part for I found The Watchers to be spellbindingly well written. From the brilliant dedication at the beginning of the book to the awesome powers of description, this story is amazing. Right from the very first page, you cannot put it down.
The Watchers is all about Auriella and the world of the Neviahan…strong and brave celestial beings; evoking every fairy tale you have ever read and coming up with something really special for all age groups to enjoy.
I especially enjoyed the chapter where Auriella has to be transformed from a grubby orphan into a lady and has to take a bath! Such wonderful description.
Deirdra writes like a Disney movie, so many magical characters and elements and you end the book with delight when you realise it is the first book in a series of six. So there will be plenty more to come, and I for one cannot wait!

The drama starts right off from the start and keeps going till the end. You find out about Auriella at the same time she does. She faces many foes, she is scared but does what she thinks is right. Along the way she has come across some good friends too.

The characters are a range of bad Shadow wolves and witches and pixies, dwarfs and dragon. It is basically a fight of dark and light too save mankind or to take over mankind.

You can see Auriella get stronger with each trial she faces as she learns about who and what she is. She is I believe 14 when we first meet her from a small village. She is a orphan. She risks her life to save some kids from a fire. Someone called her a witch and the village turned on her because of it.

The setting is 1270 England

This is a clean fantasy, I think this is a good family friendly book. YA

This a easy fast read. I did not put the book down till I had finished and I want to read the rest of the series in the future.
I was given this ebook to read for the purpose of giving a honest review and joining The Watchers: Knight of Light book tour.

A thrilling YA Fantasy read, this book kept me enthralled from the very first line. With a solid plotline that flowed well, it wasn't difficult getting lost in this tale of bravery, friendship and dedication. Very much a coming of age novel, this book had plenty of emotion and was quite brutal at times. My heart ached for Auriella because it seemed that no matter which way she turned there was some danger lurking.

I was intrigued by the powers she seemed to possess and there was obviously something more to her than just being a simple orphan girl, and I was excited to see her grow in many different ways as the story progressed. With an unusual band of travel companions, she was able to face her reality and to face her fears. I thought it was mighty brave and honorable of her to accept her destiny, and to go in search of living Lucas' dream of being a knight.

A tale filled with magic and adventure, this was a brilliant page turner that has left me wanting more of this series. I have a feeling there are many more surprises in store for Auriella and the other great characters I had the pleasure of meeting on this journey.

I don't usually listen to audio books because I have had some bad experiences with the narrators in the past. Well let me tell you I will listen to Julia Farmer narrate The Watchers: Knight of Light by Deirdra Eden any day of the week. She has got a voice that can bring to life any type of character. Through out the entire book she never got the voices wrong once they are introduced. The voice for the little girl and pixie is just too darn cute for words. The witch on the other hand you can actually picture what she looks like and she is a character all in herself. If you are into audio books and love fantasy this is definitely for you.

Knight of Light, More than a Book for Young Adults

I am writing to tell you about a wonderful new book I just read. I really enjoyed the book, ''Knight of Light'', the 1st in the Watchers Series.

This adventure story targets young adults, but is entertaining for all ages. The setting begins in England in 1270 a.d., and our hero, Auriella, is a young girl who does not realize she is more than human. As she matures, Auriella conquers adversity while learning her powers as a Nevian, she is captured by a witch, battles the Shadow Legion, makes unlikely allies and ultimately becomes a knight and protector of the King. I would give more details, but don't want to be a spoiler.

Pick up this book, you will definitely be glad you did. The book is a real page turner! I read it in one sitting - I just didn't want to put it down ... I am really looking forward to the next in the series!

This has the potential of being a major motion picture with its descriptive text, and wonderful nail biting battles.

I downloaded it at Smashwords.com and I got it free for my honest and unbiased opinion.

This book is the first new author/series I have read in a long time. I tend to gravitate towards classics and stay there but I was offered the chance to pick this book up and I didn't put it down. Finished the whole thing in about 8 hours. It's very easy to read but it has great descriptions and well written narratives. It's easy to follow and enveloping.

#thewatchers characters are ones you can identify with even though there's not a lot of backstory initially. The first little bit did take I think the longest to get through just because of that fact but it left you with enough that you wanted to know more. Good hooks and plot devices, some guessable outcomes but overall it was a nice fresh book and I look forward to finishing the series. My wife is a Middle School teacher and always looking for good new books to recommend to her students to read. She has become the unofficial librarian to many of them and I am sure this is a book that will fly off of the shelves of her recommendations as well.

I received this book free in exchange for my honest opinion. I keep it objective and only compare this book to previous similar novels I have read.
